Some give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; while others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than ever before.

Do you see your goal in sight? Now's not the time to stop planning and coast.
Top o' the morning to ya! I'm up and at 'em and ready to go today. Finished a big job at work yesterday and that makes me feel ten pounds lighter! Back to normal now, or as close to it as I ever get. I like routine, and rarely get it.
Breakfast is a shake. I've been adding a couple of tablespoons of ricotta instead of cream and I love the richness that makes. Lunch will be leftover roast beef and a small V8 (low sodium). Dinner will be something made with ground beef, I think.
Have a great day!

I have had two incidents recently where someone was saying "can't you eat this just this once?"...and my response is that I'm too close to goal. Yes I may still have 20lbs (19 as of today) but that is too close for me to be messing with my eating for absolutely no reason.
Parents are here. We're going for brunch, then I have to head to work. It is nice this morning to have time to sit and read the paper and watch the news. I might like this "late start" thing...suppose I could convince my boss to let me work less hours but make the same pay????? :D:p

Good morning everyone!!
Ahhh..my goal is soooo in sight I can "taste" it!! This is always the most difficult time for me. When the end of dieting and maintaining come very close. It seemed much easier when the end was further away, but here we are and I am determined to make it and stay there this time.
I will be away for a conference for a few days...lots of food will be around. I am excited to get away, but not so excited about all of the temptations. I will keep that voice of reason on repeat in my head while I am gone. I am not going to blow all of my efforts this time. :D

I am not going to blow all of my efforts this time. :DI usually make Ottawa's trail cookies for breakfasts and take along a few foil tuna packs when meals are impossible. My conferences are usually on-site historical things and there's no running to the nearest grocery store in period clothing. Breakfast is usually the worst problem, but lately they've been cutting costs and it's very light on the meat. It helps to have emergency rations in the suitcase. Have fun!

As long as you produce the same, what does he care?
Tim Ferriss wrote basically a whole book about this. It's very convincing. I just haven't been anywhere long enough to start a telework conversation, a reduced schedule conversation, or really anything beyond a day off here and there and two weeks in Europe.

When the end of dieting and maintaining come very close.
Really, there is no end to dieting. Maintenance is dieting. Just with less restrictive rules. If anything, it is a harder road, which is probably why so many do not do well on maintenance.
As for me, we have wigs from DC in today, so my schedule is liable to be SN:AFU. Will get my breakfast for lunch, will get my shake, and then will probably spend the rest of the day in meetings and demos with the DC folks.
Will check in later, if I can. Have to do my 8 hours of work in the 40 minutes before the wigs get here.
As long as you produce the same, what does he care?

Carol, that quote was just what I needed to read! Am on the last lap, only 10 pounds to go and it is really the worst part of the trip. Have to really put that extra umphf to get it off cus those 10 seem to be hanging on for dear life.
Ottowa's trail cookies? WHERE? would be a nice change from the scones (Amy don't get me wrong I love em but I do need a new taste).
Things here are work work work but under a Ligurian sun which is cooking my skin and making me feel unthawed after our cold (for us neh?) winter. Even had to start watering cus the land is getting that dried-out look.
PP was good today:
Breakfast - ham and egg whites, 3 slices of lard
Lunch - meatloaf and tomatoe, 2 slices of lard
Snack - meatloaf , scone
Dinner - a bit of fridge cleaning - scones, ham, lard, beef rib (hardly any meat) and my canned peaches (yum)
seems that I am picking up on the calories just hope that it works!

ROWE is based on 4HWW principles... The author and Tim Ferriss are friends.
PS- Nothing against Irish heritage and all, but I hate St. Patrick's Day.

I hear you...I'm taking a break as well.
I'm thinking they will be weekend treats!! I like to have two at a time and they are 100 calories a piece, so I want to use the 100 calories (or should I say 200) on more MEAT! :D :paranoid: :o
Parents are gone to Chi-town and I am at work. Came back to alarms...when any computer thing goes awry (we are an internet company), peoples cell phones start making alarm noises. So all the offices around mine had alarms going off...but they were laughing, so it must have been a false alarm.
It was very TENSE though to arrive to alarms!

Ottowa's trail cookies? WHERE?
Right here, Puddin! >>>>>>Trail Cookies (http://www.proteinpower.com/forum/showthread.php?t=391)
They're fun to experiment with and are very nice to munch while sipping coffee when others are chowing down on pancakes and buns and such. Beats tuna fish for breakfast! ;)
I got different results than Randy (Ottawa) did. Mine were more crumbly, I think. Also, he had one that lasted forgotten in his backpack and my last one got moldy after two weeks, so perhaps my baking technique was off. I probably didn't follow the recipe--I rarely do. I did add ground nuts to one batch. Mine lasted the week of the conference, which saved me from diabetic coma, I'm sure.

Hi, everyone--
Happy St. Pat's day to all--I'm not Irish Catholic, just part Irish, but I enjoy it anyway.
I need to make some of those cookies (or scones) to get myself on track for breakfast. I have a hard time doing shakes in the wintertime.
I'm finally feeling good today (see long explanation in my journal). The head congestion from the flu and the drainage from the surgery have finally about called it quits. I'm still coughing a bit, but it's just good to feel good after four months of being sick.
I'm still following my form of maintenance. I thought I could go back to weight loss right after the New Year, but I just couldn't deal with it on top of everything else. I think I'm just about ready to take the plunge (I know--after I do, I'll be asking what took me so long).

Hi, ya'll,
Yesterday, was difficult, I went to my favorite unlces' funeral, his Sunday School class did lunch afterwards, so I did the best I could with the food.
Today, I am back on track:
B- two eggs, lc hood milk, tea
L-green salad w/ cherry tomatoes, lc Italian dressing,
small piece of watermelon
S- sf tapioca pudding, T whipped cream
D-ground beef steak, green salad w/ lc dressing, green beans, sf jello
Exercise: 1 hour Callanetics, will do cardio later in the form of walking.
Have a great day, all.
Say, Ammy, did you or someone ever post the lc scone recipe? Those sound so good. Need something different for breakfast.
Carol, your ricotta sounds delish in the shake, will have to try it soon.
Thanks for the link to the trail cookies.
Yep...here is a couple recipes

Afternoon all.... I was running around like crazy this morning and didn't get a chance to get here. Had an eye doc appointment and I was running late. Have to go Monday to another office for pictures of my eyes (did last year too). Apparently I failed my glaucoma test again :(
I gulped my shake so fast this morning I don't even remember drinking it. That may be why I've been SOOOOO hungry today (or could be other reasons). But I got hungry before lunch (which hasn't been happening lately) so had my cheese, then had lunch less than 2 hours later and less than 2 hours after that was hungry and wanting something sweet :( I saved myself from vending with a bag of peanuts tucked into my purse though.
Am starving again now, but this is normal tuna time (well past that actually) so I'm gonna go eat.
Chicken and broccoli for dinner.

Hi, Ruth! I'm so glad you're feeling well enough to join back in.
Claudette, how sad about your uncle. I understand how those funeral luncheons can be, too.
Becca, if you don't remember drinking your shake, maybe you didn't!:D
I had a change of plan in the form of a corned beef and cabbage dinner at the local service club. There were carrots also. I declined the potatoes. That was less than three hours ago and I'm not feeling satisfied. Probably the cabbage fermenting. :paranoid: On the good side, I don't have to cook dinner for the boys! ;)

Oh I did, the blender got put into the sink. But instead of a leisurely 30 minutes it was swallowed in about 5 minutes.
The day went very downhill. Caved to the brownies which then led to a "already blown it might as well have a bad dinner". I think there may be some hormonal influences, but that's no excuse for giving in.
So a mark in the no column for today. Will get back on the wagon tomorrow. The upside to these days is that I feel so lousy physically that I don't want a repeat any time soon.
Off to kill 25 minutes til Dancing.....

Hello y'all... I've been off the radar Since January I think. I'm busy bein' mom and lovin' it!

Calories: 1212
Fat: 72
Carbs: ECC: 20.2

A little on the low side and now that I sit here I realize with all the exercise I did today I am starving. I may have a bit of whipped up cream before I go to bed so I don't have the growly tummy all night.

Wonderful quote, Carol. I had been doing so well on maintenance, and then Saturday purchased a milk chocolate candy bar from Big Lots. I figured since I portion out the dark chocolate without problems, I could do the same. NOT! I scarfed down the 10.5 oz. bar in three days. :o Then at Bible Study ate two desserts rather than my normal "three bite rule". That was after fried chicken, salad and a biscuit. Talk about blowing it. I'm up 3 lbs. this morning -- and yes, I know it's primarily "water weight" but this is a trend I don't want to get established. Been there, done that. So the next couple of days will be at Intervention level to get myself back on the straight and narrow. I'm heading for Lubbock on Friday for church meetings which will be laden with off-plan meals/ snacks. Need to get myself psyched up for that temptation.
There is just no room for complacency in this WOE, especially in maintenance. :(
Calories were crazy high today because I was so hungry! I just kept eating more protein and fat!
I don't know my exact carbs because of the one slice of thick toast at breakfast, but I really reduced them for the rest of the day.

I believe the trouble you had the rest of the day might be from the extra sugar. Maybe not in your case, but it would have been a trigger for me. Now you're straightening up and will be flying right! :)
