Habits are first cobwebs, then cables.
Spanish Proverb
Take a good look at your habits. Are you cabled to something that is keeping you from your goal?

Good morning! I always think of Wednesday noon as the beginning of the slide towards the weekend! I've got a very busy one coming up.

Breakfast will be a shake, lunch will be roast beef again, Dinner will be a ground beef patty with onions, peppers and mushrooms.

Hi, Carol-- well, I've about come to the conclusion that almonds are a cable for me. I am going to stop bringing them into my house period. I just can't keep out of them even when they are hidden in the cabinet. I have gotten into the habit of having "just a dab" --but every hour or so.(It seems) It adds up. So I am getting a great big cable cutter and freeing myself of this temptation. I don't need it.

Good morning Carol!

I think planning my food is a cable for me right now:D...exercise is still a cobweb:o. Whether I exercise or not is weak and breakable...but planning my food is SOLID-can't even cut through it with a cable cutter!

Speaking of, meals are planned. Exercise would be nice tonight...maybe walk around the park...but we'll see.

8am egg souffle, 4 turkey bacon, 1c Diet v8 juice
11:30 chili ebon with s.cream/cheese, 1cuke
3pm 1/2c cottage cheese, 2bran crackers
6pm 6oz corned beef, 1c sauerkraut
7pm 6oz yogurt

Sweets are certainly a cable for me, as evidenced by the past few days. I'm up a total of 4 lbs. over my goal weight, and all of it put on in a four day period! I know it's not "true weight", but it will become that if I dont get back on the straight and narrow, which I'm doing RIGHT NOW!

Am driving to Lubbock on Friday for two days of celebration and feasting as our new Bishop-elect is consecrated. He's a personal friend, so I'm particularly happy with his election. But the hosted breakfast, two lunches and dinner will be a real temptation. I'll decide which one will be a honey-tree feast for me, and then make the best choices possible at the other other two. Am also taking LC food for the motel so I don't get caught unawares.

Have a great day everyone. :)

Lots of good thoughts and comments today! :)

My breakfast plan changed drastically because I ran out of time to eat at home and still get to work on time. :paranoid: As luck would have it, our Culinary program has a wonderful breakfast buffet on Wednesdays, so I'm having Brunch: Eggs, bacon, ham, sausage and 1/4 cup of seasoned potato cubes. I'll get hungry around mid-afternoon, so I'll have my roast beef leftovers then.

Hi, y'all,

Thanks, Ammy for the link to the scones. Trail Cookies and Scones, breakfast is looking better allready for me.

Carol, great quote today. I like it so much, I might add it to my signature, if you don't mind.

I am thinking my cable is sf cookies, with exercise moving from the cobwebs into the cable. I decieded not to even purchase the sf cookies anymore, the real ones I buy for DH, I don't like, but he loves, so we are ok there.

I am off today, took a day off to catch up on school work.

The scale today said down 2 lbs from the "carb bloat" I had put on.
I think when I drop from 90% vigilence, I am so sensative to carbs, I will always go up on the scale.

Today's menu:
B-poached eggs, lc skim milk, tea
Planned:
L-chicken salad on lettuce, raw veggies
D-beef steak, green veggie, green salad, sf pudding or jello
S-reduced fat cheddar, pickled okra (don't gag, it takes like a dill pickle)

Have a great day, all, off to study.

Checking in: Trying to make this a habit again. My daughter and I are going to the zoo today. it is suppose to partly cloudy and 74degrees. I hope to walk and walk and walk. It's an 1 1/2 hours away but worth the drive!

Morning all.... I'm off from work today to attend a couple of DD2s things at the high school.

I put on 3 pounds from yesterday's binge. It's amazing how quickly it goes on and how slowly it comes off.

Breakfast was hard boiled eggs, bacon and cheese toast (was supposed to be cinnamon, but DH has apparently raided my egg stash and I needed more protein)

Lunch no clue - I have the makings for a wrap, some left over chicken and tuna to choose from. Will depend on when I get home and what state I'm in. I plan on taking some cheese with me in case I get the munchies while I'm gone

Dinner is chili - not fully LC, but not bad. 1 can of beans and 1 can of diced tomatoes and 2 pounds of ground beef, plus spices. It's simmering in the crock pot.

I had hoped to exercise this morning but my back/shoulder is bothering me again. I'm beginning to wonder if I have a pinched nerve :(

And other than getting the chili in the crock pot I have totally wasted my morning :o The time just flew by I guess - 3 hours of nothing. Well I'll chalk it up to "relaxation" or some such.

Now I need to start getting ready to go.

I decieded not to even purchase the sf cookies anymore, the real ones I buy for DH, I don't like, but he loves, so we are ok there.I'm lucky that way, too. It's a blessing!

Sounds like good weather for a zoo trip. You won't be baking as you're walking! Have fun.

Ooh, I hope not, Becca. Those things rarely go away on their own. Do you chiro?

Cobwebs are in my head lately. Am so pooped from the work in the country that I'm literally wiped-out. Cables are nuts just like you Karol. I put them in the freezer and found out that they are even better frozen. Dumped the cashews. I think that I'll grind the filberts, walnuts so that I can use them in my breakfast puddings that I make with ricotta, eggs, cream, cinnamon and some canned peaches which I make in the summer (1 small peach for a 4 portion pudding)

I'm really frustrated though and I need to vent: Here's my meals today and there's still something wrong. I can't calculate in any of the US computer calculators cus the stuff I eat isn't written in. So just write the quantities and see if someone can see why I'm not dropping an ounce.

yesterday:
Breakfast 3 slices lard, 3 whites , 100 grams ham
Lunch 4 oz burger, small tomatoe, 3 slices lard
Dinner salad 2 cups, 100 grams ham, 3 oz cheese , 1 oz meat, 1 small peach
Snack: 2 scones

Today:
breakfast - 2 whites, 110 grams ham
Lunch - 80 grams cheese, 60 grams ham, salad
Snack 75 grams ham, 35 grams nuts (almonds filberts), 1/3 piece ricotta pudding (6.8P 0.9C)
Dinner don't really know cus I may have ham or just 2 pieces of breakfast pudding

Water in the two days was at least 2 liters a day...

Am really not getting PP straight lately. YEsterday's meals seemed perfect and today's were getting ok with the protein but I am not losing.

HELP!? So frustrating.

Puddin: Might cut back on the lard and eat something a little more proteiney. It's really extra calories at that point. Ditch it and eat the yolks and the ham.

80g of cheese is like 2.5 ounces? Some people stall on quantity of dairy.

What goes into canning a peach exactly? I feel like this is going to condense the sugar of something already sweet and borderline for a meal worth of carbs.

Lard. I'm sure it's good, but, if it is what I think it is (like bacon without the muscle), it's probably not hurting from a carb/protein perspective, but it's not helping from a calorie perspective.

Carol I don't chiro. Wouldn't even know how to find a good one truthfully. All this started in my shoulder and neck after I racked one Saturday, it has moved into a small spot right in my lats, between the shoulder blade and spine. Periodically I get tingling all down my arm. Finding a position to sleep in is fun too. I've been trying to do stretching to work it out and sometimes it seems to help, sometimes I wake up and feel like I can't use that side at all.

I did get in some physical activity of sorts at least. Lots of walking at the school going from prom blast to catapult and back, including some very steep stairs that I had to go down then back up later. My legs hurt, I must've done something ;)

I ended up having a shake for lunch (with two scoops of powder for a protein boost) before I left. Will have my tuna and almonds in a bit.

I put some pictures of DD1 in her attire (just what she wore for the show, not for actual prom) in the photo albums here. Taken from my phone which I'm still learning to use, so not too bad for me :)

Feeling all on track today, just still a bit bloated from last night.

Seems I have tripped over a few cables this week...one big one is treats people bring to work. It's hard not to feel deprived when everyone else is digging in and raving about the latest and greatest sugar bomb! :P

I could cut this cable by doing some better meal planning and having some healthy snacks to munch on when temptation comes to call, but that's another of my stumbling blocks. I don't make time to plan or shop for what I should be eating, so I'm grabbing a lot of what I should not be eating instead.

And exercise? I need to be better about walking on the treadmill or "playing" with the Wii Fit. (So sad when I step on the Wii Fit to weigh in and it says "Oh!")

I did an official "I'm back" thread but wanted to say hello here as well. I left to try Atkins, lost some inches but no pounds. I began looking at PP again and decided I like it better. I just hope it likes me better this time and I can get it to work for me!

I made the switch on Monday and one good thing - there's no carb withdrawals to have to go through :D !

My deah ---are you calling me a nut???:lol:(I resemble that) !!:D :D

Good luck getting rid of your nuts-- my almonds are all gone and they are not coming back for a long, long time.

Welcome back LM!

If you post your food/counts daily, we can try to help out. I know it works wonders for me!

Speaking of..I have been invited out for steak and red wine at a very nice restaurant tonight. The lawyers that helped us with our merger are taking the bosses and myself out for beef! Yipee!! I LOVE Manny's...
here is the menu...I would like a Caesar salad but can't decide on the steak.
http://www.mannyssteakhouse.com/menus/minneapolis/dinner.php
(by the way...I've seen this...Bludgeon of Beef 50 oz Bone-in Ribeye...it reminds me of the food that was delivered to Fred Flinstone during the opening of his cartoon).

So I will probably AGAIN overdo the protein and calories, but I will avoid the carby-extra's like the plague...(I hope).:o

Welcome, back, Itsjustmelm,

I, too, left for awhile to try SB, as MD was concerned about the sat fat.
Too carby for me after Phase I. I have moderated the sat fat in the PP I eat, so far, so good.

I see you are from Texas, where in Texas, I am in the North Texas Area.
Just curious.

Well, study break over, back to the books.

Glad to "see" you again, Yahoudi!

Hugs,
Claudette

Thanks, Claudette! It's good to be "seen." ;)

Have pulled too many disappearing acts when I've fallen off the wagon, but I need to hold myself accountable...I'm going to be here whether I've been good or bad, hoping that it will encourage me to be good!

:)

(Why am I smiling so big in my profile pic? I'm petting a tiger. Seriously. I need to find and re-scan that pic, since I'll probably never be foolish enough to pet a tiger again!)

I think I went to Manny's a number of years ago. I had a steak done blue. It was good.

I'd go, hrm... Either scallops benedict (skip any bread) or the carpaccio. But I like that kind of thing. Not for most midwesterners, me thinks.

Then, either split the prime rib (you should not have a problem finding someone to split it with) or have the bone in rib eye. But that's just how I roll. Someone is bound to fall for the tenderloin fallacy. Crab legs sound good too.

I hope the suits are picking up the bill.

Hi, Puddin. Sorry you're frustrated today. I'll let Max troubleshoot your menu, as I'm not good at visualizing grams. :o

Jill, I know how you feel about office treats. I am the odd man out when they get into smoothies or cookiefests. Lately it's been tangerines, so I could graciously accept one (and count it). I'm more tempted by the social aspect than by the food, but I choose life. My blood sugar is in the eighties and I will last a lot longer that way.

LM, I saw you tiptoeing in today....! ;) Welcome back! :)

Amy, how lush! Eat well. :D

Claudette, thanks for popping in with that testimonial!

Sounds like a good trip, Feelix.

Good night, Becca!

Amy I cooked the cauli/sausage casserole after dinner tonight to prepare for the rest of the week and I can't wait to taste it!!!! It looks and smells so good.

Good night all:D

yes, the suits picked up the bill...our company is not affected by the economy.

we started with lobster cakes (I had 1/2of one), shrimp cocktail (didn't have any), and the colossal australian lobster tail.
We each had caesar salads, then everyone choose the dry-aged bone-in ...um...which steak was it? I'll have to ask. It was incredible!
They added on asparagus, mushrooms, and hashbrowns (none for me).
They finished with a brownie the size of a cake, then whipped cream (or ice cream i don't know) on top, the they poured chocolate and caramel sauce over the top of everything. The mound was ENORMOUS!!
There were strawberries around it, so I grabbed a few of those. No chocolate for me.

Then the suits put a glob of cake on my plate after I said over and over that I would not eat it. Then they poured chocolate sauce on my strawberries...so i didn't eat those either.
I wasn't mad...I was pretty full...and we'd all had a LOT of wine...:o.
But I didn't have any cake.

I had some mushrooms, 1/2 my steak, 3 asparagus, 1/2 my caesar, 1/2 lobster cake, 1/4 slice of bread (I had too much wine and no food-I had to ahve something), and 1 and 1/2 strawberries.
I think I did well...

Oh wait...I didn't mention the 4 glasses of red wine.....:o...

I guess they were buying so they can be jerks like that with the desert. They probably don't know that you lost a ton of weight, so...

Probably the Ribeye. If it was good and beefy, and nice and optimally low carb (with a nice dot of fat a little off center), sounds like a bone in Ribeye, my favorite expensive cut.

I just checked...it was a dry-aged bone-in fillet. It was three inches thick. About the size of a softball.
It was truly fantastic....

I brought my leftovers today for lunch, I want to warm it up without cooking it too much. I did order it medium instead of medium well so that if it did cook a little it wouldn't kill it.
Any reheating suggestions? I have a full kitchen here at work. Maybe in the oven? Broiler?

Puddin: Might cut back on the lard and eat something a little more proteiney. It's really extra calories at that point. Ditch it and eat the yolks and the ham.
Good idea and did it today. Got some super ham at the store and am enjoying it.

80g of cheese is like 2.5 ounces? Some people stall on quantity of dairy.
1 Ounce is more or less 30 grams so you're right there. Will limit dairy and see what happens.

What goes into canning a peach exactly? I feel like this is going to condense the sugar of something already sweet and borderline for a meal worth of carbs.
since I made the peaches before PP I used 1 tbsp fructose per pound of peaches. Each jar contains one pound of peaches therefore 1 tbsp per jar. Peaches are put into jar, fructose on top of peaches, lemon juice, sealed with caps then boiled for 45 minutes in a huge pot. when jars are cold they get put into the larder. The liquid does get a bit thick but I would say that 1/3 jar (amount used for my pudding) doesn't do much damage. This year I will make them without any sweetener, only lemon juice. In fact, I am considering freezing them instead of jarring.

Lard. I'm sure it's good, but, if it is what I think it is (like bacon without the muscle), it's probably not hurting from a carb/protein perspective, but it's not helping from a calorie perspective.
Lard is exactly that. It has a little pink meat but it is mostly wonderful sweet piggy fat and you're right about the calorie perspective. Better I skip the lard and eat the regular fats around the ham where there is much more protein than white sweet piggy fat.
Again thanks for your help! Sure hope that the situation changes.

Ammy

But make sure you ARE eating enough protein though.

You move...a LOT...and because of that you need to get ENOUGH food...just be a bit choosier about what you are eating.

My suggestion...take what you want and leave the rest.
