We're almost at the end of the month, gang! So let's give it our all and finish the month out roaring like a lion, not bleating like a lamb ;).
My lineup for the week:
Sunday - Chest, shoulders & triceps followed by about an hour of brisk walking
Monday - Cardio, abs and another walk (unless I have snow to shovel instead)
Tues - Legs
Wednesday - Cardio & abs
Thursday - Back and biceps
I'm sure I'll get an additional 40 minute walk in a time or two later on in the week.

Today was a good run day, well not really as it was raining. Yep!! I hope it takes all our snow, however their have been flood warning already. I am glad I don't live within iminent danger.
Anyway, the #1 kidlet and I went for a run about 2 km. I ran about half and walked the other half. I need to work on building some endurance.
Goal for the week is to get that same walk/run in everyday. I will also have a lot of dance this week as we perform at a concert on Saturday. I think I finally have all the steps down, it's just to get them all put together.

Hi, y'all,
I'm for ending the month as a roaring lion!
OOOh, Jackie, I always admired dancers. I am so uncoordinated, I am not a dancer, maybe slow or waltz, but that is all.
Today, was a 35 minute hike in the state park. I really feel soreness today. I do need to try to get out there more during the week.
Later, tonight, Callanetics 1 hr. tape. Working on my shape, I am.
Hugs,
Claudette

Wee tiny bitty exercise today--- dh and I walked briskly for 20 min. and I worked some outside in the flower bed. Pulled weeds and etc. Nice lazy day really. Lots of nice sun so I got plenty of D .

Ohhh Claudette,
I am not a dancer either by any means. My children Ukrainian dance, so I decided to join this year with the hopes of learning some technique, but mostly to get exercise and exercise it is!!!! I find it quite intimidating as many in our group have danced since they were children so they have about 15 years experience on me. I am not alone, my friend joined with me. All is all it is fun and we get an amazing work out.

Jackie, I'm the same way with line dancing !! I have 3 left feet, but I am getting better. We still go to the beginners class but now I am beginning to remember the steps now so I really enjoy it. Great exercise and fun !!
I'm off to go for a ride. See everyone later.

Good job, Jackie! Just don't forget about the resistance training :). That will do a lot more than CLA to add muscle and decrease fat ;). I know you like cardio but all the cardio in the world won't make you strong ...

We rode the horses for an hour then came back and started right in on yard work (one hour also) that dh wanted to get done before it rains again. Whew. That may be it for the day.

Hello everybody, sorry for this late check in. Quite a busy day. After working in library, I wanted to go to cinema but it didn't work, I'm going tomorrow to see Revolutionary Road, finally. Still, I found some time for moving & shaking! I try to have some more cardio this week, so on Saturday evening I biked for 20 minutes and I did Tae Bo Core & 10 min Pilates arms yesterday. Today I had a rather unpleasant experiance with one of my cardio tapes - if you look for someone who is uncoordinated, here I am! I really liked Karole's expression about 3 left feet, I can easily recognise myself:D. Anyway, I suffered (& sweated) for some 12 minutes with cardio & followed it with QuickFix Abs (10 min). Tomorrow I hope to do 2 x Tae Bo (Get Moving & Lower Body). Will check in!

You are so right Billie.
Today's dance practice only went for 2 1/2 hours rather than 3 thank goodness. I am going to do some upper body again mostly arm weights to balance things out. My legs are quite weak from all the dancing so I better leave them alone. One of my videos has a great resistance exercise that is meant for arms but also works the obiques really well. I like killing two birds with one stone!!
Oh I am exhausted!

Good to hear how everyone is up and at it today !! If this keeps up, her Shadowness will probably have to put her whips away in moth balls (not) :D--just a dream of mine I think. Or delusion, or hallucination, or ....
Well, I did get a little 30 min. walk in for extra credit today !! My dd and dh and I went for a nice walk in the wind this evening. Boy, it was really gusting. But it was in the 70's so I'm not complaining.

Today, 67 minutes in my new (my sweetie's Valentine present to me/who needs flowers and candy) MBT shoes. I love them. No knee pain, no heel pain, and they look like (kind of) expensive running shoes so I can wear them to work without becoming the center of attention. Last year, I bought the Nike + which is great, but Nike doesn't seem to make a shoe that fits (me) as well as this.
Sorry, I guess this makes me sound like a gadget geek, maybe this belongs in community OT instead of mover's and shaker's.

Martha, there is life after running! I had to stop years ago and now I don't even walk much because of arthritic knees and feet, but resistance exercise is marvelous!
FYI, my foot and ankle specialist, who made me some orthotics, highly recommends Croc shoes. I searched and found they come in all styles, not just those ugly bubble things. DH swears by his!

Jackie - I am sure this is definitely contributing to your weight dilemma . How about you do yourself a HUGE favor and take care of yourself, up the potassium, drink LOTS of water, remember that magnesium and most importantly - STAY OFF THE SCALE UNTIL YOU FEEL BETTER!

Martha - We have ALL been there, so don't be so hard on yourself ;). The important thing is that you're doing something NOW. None of us can change the past - all we can do is muddle through the present :).

Well, I've been AWOL for quite a while:o, from my exercise routine as well as from the forum. Anyway, daily reporting is a real boost to motivation to get "Moving and Shaking," so I'm back and hope to do better from now on.
Just finished my upper body resistance. In addition to hand weights, I dug out my old Thigh Master:eek: (of Suzanne Somers fame). There are several upper body exercises that can be done with that, so all in all I had a pretty good workout.

Way to go, Karole :D! Oh my, soaking up some Vitamin D sounds wonderful
No shortage here, it is was 82 today.
I have tried crocs and they are still my "go to" non rocking shoes. (MBTs have a sole similar to a heel stretch device I used, previously.) I am considering sacrificing a pair of crocs to insert the Nike + sensor. Has anyone had any experience with this?
I thought it would be great to be able to use the crocs and I don't think it would damage the sensor so that I could put back in the Nike's if/when I am ready to give it a go with a more normal shoe.
More on topic, I haven't gone out yet, but have a power walk planned before dark. Gotta love daylight savings time.

Karole, you are my hero, hope line dancing is great tonight.
Carol, thanks for the welcome and the appreciation of the brag about my valentine.
The (kinda) mover and shaker story that goes with the shoes goes something like this.
Time line: Feb 14th, context grown son, girlfriend and husband of 30 yrs walked into a store. I tried the shoes, said thanks for the info and we walked happily on our way kidding each other, having a great time. An hour passes and we arrive at a not fancy restaurant. I remark, wow can't believe those shoes, I haven't been heel pain free in so long, I kind of forgot what it was like. (I've had injections, and that takes the edge off, Celebrex and the same.) Yes I have tried/still take Krill oil and curcumin but remained uncomfortable.) I said, I'm relatively intelligent, I just can't figure this out. He (dh) said, "what I can't figure out is why they are back in the store and not on your feet"
Oh wow, so much for DST it got dark so fast, I didn't get my walk, yet. Oh well, guess that's why we have street lights.

Finished TaeBo and lower body resistance. Now on to some housecleaning. My son and his wife are coming over tomorrow, and I don't want them (especially her) to know what a slob I am sometimes.

Looks like all my exercising today is going to be pleasure. We fininshed our ride and now I am going golfing with dh . I doubt I will be doing much else !!

Isn't that the best kind:question:

I agree with Sandy, Karole - I think that's the best kind of exercise there is !

Sorry to break it to you b/c it would be great if it did any of the things you may have dreamed since I didn't provide a description, but a "Nike + sensor" is a glorified pedometer with other information as well. It's the portion that goes in a pocket or cutout of a "Nike +" shoe so that the information can be recorded, like a regular pedometer. It also transmits the information in a particular way so that when you use the receiver in an iPod Nano, your workout coincides with the playlist or specific Nike workout you have selected, I use a lot of audible books/podcasts/workout music, but safely. So, every time you connect to iTunes, it asks if you want the information transmitted to the Nike site. It's another way of recording your exercise, more accountability/motivation?? :)
Nothing new to report today, other than at work we don't really have a place for employees to park without having a .2mi walk in, so a pretty low intensity day with my MBTs.
I know, now I sound even geekier but, I did ask the question.
( I hope my post icon means boy am I embarrassed)

It does, but no need to feel embarrassed, Martha. I could tell you stories if I had time right now.
Didn't get to the gym tonight because of the music gig. :p

uh , neither do I---but I'd like to know as one of my dd's has trouble with her heel and if it could help her I'd love to have more info about it.:)
This won't help with the Nike + piece but the reason I switched to MBT was much of what's contained in this site.
My$ rationale was, orthotics range in price from $$-$$$s without any return policy. The walking store (in my area at least) has a 30 day comfort guarantee. As I mentioned, I have used medication/injections/heel straps/taping/exercise/golf balls/ice without the degree of relief I felt with MBT. Certainly, YMMV/ddmmv but it may be worth a shot.

Thanks Martha I'll have to let my dd know about them. She sure has a lot of trouble with her heel.

Today will be a break from exercise. I usually skip one of the weekend days, and since we have a busy day planned, I think I'll wait to exercise tomorrow.

Just got thru with my daily. Did 25 min. on the elliptical and 20 min. pt exercises and stretches then 30 crunches. I am hoping my dd comes over to walk later on, it is so beautiful out there--nice and sunny after a couple of days of mostly rain.
See you all later.

Karole - I'm feeling even "gooder" than you are from reading about the great exercise you've gotten in :D! And of course, that marvelous post you did helped to ;).
Martha - Ah yes, Carol is into her gadgets too, so you're definitely not alone :p!
Carol - I am sure you had a wonderful time at your gig! Now... I'm also sure you're going to make up for that lost exercise day, right ?
Jackie - I hope it went well :)!!! Of course, I'm sure you did an excellent job and hopefully had a lot of fun, too!
Sandy - Good plan to use yesterday as your rest day ! Looking forward to hearing from you on Sunday and in the new thread!

Just to report that the end of my "cardio week" was not as good as it should have been:o. On Thursday I did nothing and then there was only 40-minute-walk on Friday afternoon, as we went to Normandy. And then, nothing again. Hope to change it this week!

Adina - But at least you did something, so the week was not a waste :). Chin up, girl, 'cause I expect a better report from you next time !
Carol - Ah well... the best-laid plans and all that ;). Thankfully you're only one down for the week :).
