We are either progressing or retrograding all the while. There is no such thing as remaining stationary in this life.
James Freeman Clarke
All you have to do is let up on the gas and the car slows down!
Good morning! This month’s theme was about habits. What would you like to work on next month? :)
Breakfast will be a protein shake. Lunch will be cauli bake. Dinner depends on the state of my kitchen when I get home!
I borrowed the Thirsty Thursday from Amy. Are you drinking as much water as you planned? It's easy to let that one slide. ;)

Hi Carol, good quote again and the idea of the foot on the gas petal was right on !! We've got to keep moving or we just drift eh??
I have been racking my brain for a challenge theme for April and all I have come up with is --could April be about "accountability"-- Each of us could choose say 2-3 goals they want to work on and the challenge is to report here daily with how they accomplished that goal that day.
I've often read that the more successful folks (with diet/exercise issues) are the ones that journal (another way to be accountable) I know that I do better at staying with in my bounds if I write down every thing in Fitday and etc. I could try to keep track of the folks that join in and give feedback if you would like that. Sometimes recognition helps spur us on--just ask the Shadow !!
There are probably lots of good ideas out there, so if someone has some other idea let us know--I just thought I would throw this out into the mix.
I have a little trailride planned for 4 days in April, but the rest of the month I am free to help you out---don't leave out the quotes though, they are great sources of ideas and get our day and conversations with each other started.
Just an idea to get us started on the April challenge !
I drink an AMAZING amount of water...during the work day. It's the weekends that I struggle. However, lately, my body CRAVES water on the weekends so I ignore it all day, then slam 50oz right before bed just to quench my thrist! Gotta work on that.
Hm...my issue is that if I can't SEE or FEEL the progression I can sabotage and therefore go backwords just so I see some movement at all. Kind of like the child who isn't getting attention. They'll be bad because NEGATIVE attention is better than none.
Well, scale CLIMBING is better than it sitting still....right??? :suspicious::paranoid::redface:
Food is planned today. Stomach is really doing some odd things and I'm not feeling very well...Hm...this could be a rough day...
8am cauli-turkey casserole, diet v8 juice
11am caesar salad with egg, almonds, broccoli, parm
2:30pm turkey pepperoni
5pm chicken breast, veggies
7pm mixed nuts, sf popsicles

It covers a broad spectrum of goals and yet has one single purpose. Let's see what other ideas come up.

I would welcome that, Karole! (The Shadow definitely knows, as is evident in her M&S thread.) This isn't really my show; we all grow together and encourage each other. The more encouragement, the better!

I wouldn't get any sleep at all if I did that! :jawDrop:

Amy, perhaps you can establish some other progression markers? Like holding the line on ecc and giving yourself a pat on the back when you've held it for the week? The day? Announce it here and we'll all pile on! :D

I just explained that concept to my grandblessing. I remember explaining it to his father, too.

I did well yesterday...I took Mom out for our weekly jaunt, and she wanted to go to a local taco place. I had two tacos with no shells, which they were nice enough to put on a small platter. Very tasty! (Mom still doesn't get that I can't always be making exceptions to my eating plan and still make it work for me...she seemed horrified that I would get tacos with no shells...she thinks that's the best part, but I would disagree. I really, really enjoyed the "insides" without the shell!) Maybe should have gotten three tacos...when I got home, I had a hard-boiled egg to round out my dinner.
I haven't had anything to eat yet today, though -- bad, I know. I just haven't been hungry (I remember from my "past life" on Protein Power that I never felt hungry, and I had to eat by the clock whether I wanted to or not to get in enough food for the day). But I've got a cold shake waiting that I should crack into. And I think I'm going to go get more shell-less tacos for lunch. Tonight...roast beef on the Showtime rotisserie! I think I'll do the veggies on the rotisserie, too.
Excercise has been my problem for a while now. I keep meaning to jump on the treadmill every night, but that hasn't happened. And I downloaded a "slow burn" exercise routine that you do with resistance bands, but I haven't started that yet, either. :P
That and planning my meals are the greatest challenge right now...planning is just so important to staying on track!

I found a recipe for home made taco seasoning so I can cook my own. I like to make a taco salad out of it. Rotisserie roast sounds fantastic, Jill!

Stick around for April and we'll take care of that. ;)
I just had my cauli-bake lunch. This batch is too salty, even though I added no salt. The cheese is salty and so is the sausage. I may have put Montreal Steak seasoning in the ground beef. That was a mistake! :p

Carol, I've seen Cauli-bake mentioned several times the last few days. I've looked in the recipe section, but wasn't sure which recipe (if any) it was. Willing to share the recipe?

I'm interested, too!
Jill :)
Here (http://www.eatprotein.com/forum/showpost.php?p=82815&postcount=1) is the recipe.
I have altered it many times since posting it.
I leave out the heavy cream all the time now, and just recently left out the sour cream. I like it and it helps cut the calories.

Many thanks! Hubby hates cauliflower (most veggies, actually), but I may make this up and portion it out for my lunches!
Jill :)
I love it for breakfast!!
When using cauliflower instead of potatoe, I sometimes don't tell peple and they don't always know the difference.
Use your pampered chef chopper and chop a bag of (thawed) frozen cauliflower until it looks like "rice". Then use a dry packet of fried rice mix and follow directions on packet...you cannot tell the difference!!

Hmmm...I might not be able to tell the difference, but I bet my husband could! He is a notorious veggie-hater!
(He will eat some veggies, but not broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts...anything in that whole family. I love 'em, so I just fix a Jill-sized portion, and give him something else that he will eat.)

I make it in a 9x15 pan, cut it into squares when it cools (based on how much protein is in it) and freeze them in baggies. :) I also take great liberties with the recipe!

Breakfast this morning was a small protein drink and some protein pancakes.
Lunch was a salad (romaine, spinach, cheese, w/a bit of ranch dressing) and some left over roast beef.
Haven't decided on supper yet. Hubby won't be here so will be winging it.:)

Feeling lazy, and DH isn't home, so I had a Weight Watchers Smart Ones dinner (what can I say - they were on sale) It was Turkey medallions with mushroom gravy and green beans. 8 ecc, but only 200 calories and 18 g protein. But I had a bit of leftover chicken in the fridge, so I added that to the gravy.
I still may need a bit of a snack before bedtime. . . . we'll see.

HI, y'all,
Great day.
Great quote, Carol, I agree.
This week has been busy, but on plan. Need to add in more exercise, however.
Sandy, I love that particular WW dinner, I, too, usually add some extra protein. It is low in carbs and very portable for me.
Your protein pancakes sound great. Is it your own recipe or did you get it from a LC book?
Well, got to run study.
Later,
Claudette

Checking in - I did great today! I'm on track... I have been investigating a candida cleanse and so I'm ontrack with low carbs as well. I'll take any advice or tips on this one... I'm tired of not thinking straight... hehe... supposedly yeast is the problem. :-)
