When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.
Franklin D. Roosevelt
I’ve been wanting to use this quote for a long time now. Let’s end the week with it! I think tie a knot means secure your food plan and hang on means come here and participate. What do you think? :)

Breakfast today will be a strawberry shake. Lunch will be cauli-bake. Dinner will be a quick bite of protein before the gig. We’re playing music for a benefit soup supper, so I’ll leave room for a cup of soup at break time. I’m suddenly struck with the knowledge that I won’t have time for the gym after work today. Dang!

Terrific quote!!!! Well I have passed my first day back on Plan, already I feel better. I like planning my meals and sticking to a schedule, and feeling like I am working towards a terrific goal.

Breakfast: Egg whites and grilled chicken
Lunch: Shrimp Salad
Dinner: Leftover grilled chicken

I have been looking into protien shakes as an additional snack, because I feel I do need to get more protien in....but I have realized that in order for me to loose weight I have to keep my calories and carbs pretty low. Anyone using any low carb, low calories shakes you could suggest?

I'm slipping so fast I can't seem to tie anything!! Guess I'm not at the end yet...:(
I just keep nibbling at night. And since I can't get fitday.com to work (yes, I've emailed them) I'm claiming that as a "good excuse" to allow myself extras!!
I'm back up to 200 but with the next bite I will be above, and up there with bodyfat, not water weight. :(

I am giving it another go today. And I am with friends today, so that should help me fight the muchies. I know abou 45% of the night muchies is around GF still not being employeed. She is finally sending her resume out (yea!!) but IMO this activity should have been happening last month. Oh well, it's her timeline, not mine. And THAT is what I'm eating over...the helplessness....ugh..

Anyway...meals are planned. Day is busy. Both good signs.

8am cauli-turkey casserole, diet v8 juice
11:30am lc goulash, 1/2 head romaine lettuce
3pm iced latte, 1serving turkey pepperoni
6pm BIG burger, 1/2 bun, maybe a salad

Pro: 140
Ecc: 30
Fat: 115
Cal: 1830

Yep, good thought for the day--do what it takes to be successful. Shore yourself up if need be and hang on for the ride. I like that.

In fact today I'm going for another ride first thing this morning (so dh can get to his beloved golf course later on) Some days we're having a hard time working his golf and horses into the same day. In fact yesterday we didn't. But they are predicting snow for parts of Missouri tomorrow so who knows if we'll be indoors for a while after that. Hope it misses us completely.

Talk to you all later, be good.

I find the dynamic of significant others and our eating habits and health so interesting.
My DH loves his Dr. Pepper... it wouldn't be so bad if it was just that, but then he drinks it with chips or chex mix. I have gone back to my mediation that decreases the desire for those carby foods.... but I find that when i hungry (aka last night), my thoughts go back to JUST-ONE-BITE-WON'T-HURT... but that's my problem... i don't just have one... I have the bag! He "supports" me in eating health as long as it doesn't his habits long term- and that's where we get stuck... after a week of veggies and meat - he's ready for carbyhood again.

I also find it interesting how our partners can expose emotions that we didn't know we were dealing with - for Amy - its helplessness, for me (at least today) its feeling overwhelmed with relationships (specifically my in-laws) and not knowing where I stand with people. Food is a comfort.

I am working on a Candida Diet which is proving to be affective. I have horrid breath, I feel ran over by a truck - but at the same time I have a different level of energy that I did on Monday. So something is working!

*I raise my glass of water* Here's to making food decisions for us - not in response to our partners or environment!

I hope everyone has a wonderful - ON PLAN weekend!

Yesterday was good...stayed on-plan at dinnertime and did make that roast in the rotisserie! We cooked a second roast after we ate, so we have that in the fridge to heat up for a weekend meal, or nosh on for lunch or snacks.

Today...not so good. Got up late, dashed out of the house. Had a bowl of instant oatmeal from the vending machine at work for breakfast...I know that was way too carby with the flavorings/sweeteners. Lunch and dinner and snacks should not be bad, though...I've got unsalted nuts in my desk for snacks, a roast in the fridge if we get stuck at dinnertime, and I'm sure I can find something healthy for lunch, too. (The lunch vendor at work is from a local Chinese restaurant, but they have some good low-carb options on their mini buffet.)

I use zero-carb isopure with about 10ecc of frozen fruit blended in.

And THAT is what I'm eating over...the helplessness....ugh..Amy, fourth step?

Some days you just have to do that! :)

I found it very helpful too, when I did it. Almost like a detox! Anything with MSG in it started tasting very metalic. Ick!
(The lunch vendor at work is from a local Chinese restaurant, but they have some good low-carb options on their mini buffet.) That's great, Jill. I always like those meat-on-a-stick things. I think they're called pot-stickers? Not as good as sesame chicken, but much better for me!

I'm not sure what they are called, but they are good! They also bring in grilled chicken, green beans, salad...I'd go for the egg drop soup, too, but I'm afraid that has MSG in it!

Posting on the run, almost literally.... hope to be back next week. I saw the quote and had to reply cuz that's where I am right now, at the end of my rope and struggling to hang on.

Will hopefully get time to journal about it some.

Great quote, Carol. Unfortunately I so often tie a slip knot when I get to the end of my rope and I slide right past. But good sentiment, nonetheless.

((((AMY))))! Hang in there. Do you have someone you can talk to about your frustrations and emotional eating? Please don't allow yourself to sink into this any longer. You know we are all here for you, but sometimes a face-to-face is needed.

This has been a strange week for me. Routine teeth cleaning on Tuesday resulted in the dentist finding two cavities. Went in yesterday to have them taken care of -- yikes! I felt he was drilling to China. Had no pain before the teeth were "fixed" and now in terrific pain. Couldn't sleep last night. Dentist can't see me until next Thursday so he called in some pain med. I'm now flying a bit high. Not really sure whether it helped the pain or I'm so high I don't care any more!

Anyway, food yesterday was minimal and today was soft foods. Oatmeal/flax/soy grits for breakast and chili for lunch. Not going to be able to manage my apple for supper and think I better stay away from the wine, so probably will have more chili. Can't do a protein shake right now as anything even remotely cold sends me through the roof. This is going to be a VERY interesting week. :( But perhaps I will lose the extra 3-4 lbs. I'm carrying.

I had a good day food-wise. Breakfast was a pizza omelete (OMG, was that good :exclamation:) Lunch was a salad and roast beef. Supper was seasoned hamburger patties and eggplant (I've never done much eggplant, but I'm trying to broaden out - food wise that is - and try different things) I don't think I nibbled once between meals. Of course I was busy cleaning house, so that helped.

I have stayed on plan all day! I even passed up fancy sugary coffee, Chinese Donuts and Lemon Cupcakes.

I did eat an apple and cheese for dessert. yum.

I went to Costco and picked up a British Cheddar Cheese that is pretty tasty with an apple... I also picked up American Cheese for queso (and celery) and cheddar slices for burgers.

hope everyone has a great friday too!

Hang in there Amy, you know you can do it. Why???? You have been doing it for so long!!! Don't let the bad days get you down. We are human and human make wrong choices, we bounce back and keep on keeping on!!!

No time really for Fit day today so here is what it looked like.
Breakfast:2 chicken drums, one pizza muffin (great recipe, but it does call for a little flour so some day when I have time I need to play with it to make it less carby) Most of it is with eggs so its like a quiche, Very good!!!
Lunch: flat out with spinach. tomato, cheese and bacon
snack: cottage cheese and strawberries
supper: caesar salad and chicken fingers

Not enough water today and I can feel it!!
Tomorrow is big dance day.......wish me luck!!

What a great group of friends we've become!

(((BC))) I sympathize with you!

Becca, don't let go, hon!

Sandy, good for you not nibbling!

Feelix, smoked Gouda goes well with Fuji apples, we've found.

Jackie, good luck tomorrow! Are you feeling better?

I had a great evening; played two gigs back-to-back! The first was old timey music and the second was a Celtic rush. I love it!

well, I followed my plan yesterday...or the one I created once I knew the restaurant we would be attending.
I was at 50ecc, but very high on protein for the day. That's okay...I feel better about overdoing the protein than the carbs.
