If you're going through hell, keep going.
Winston Churchill
Short and to the point! Retreat doesn't improve the situation, does it?

Keep thinking about the April challenge and what you want to accomplish.

I'm going shoe shopping today and then to my grandson's fifth birthday party!

Have fun shoe shopping and celebrating the birthday!!! Your quote is excellent. Reminds me of a song I would listen to a couple of years ago when I decided to go back to university and had to leave my babies at home and travel to the city weekly!! Lyrics to the chorus were something like this:

If you're going through hell
Keep on going, Don't slow down
If you're scared, don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there

Wonderful gentle rain last night and this morning. I can hear our pastures oohing and awing as they turn a darker green by the minute. Love it.

Feel really good and have just completed my daily exercises so I feel really good about that. I just do so much better when I can get it done early. Both mentally and physically. It feels good to no have that "gotta exercise" mantra looming over head.

No big plans for the day except reading more of the PPLP book and listening to it rain. I certainly have forgotten a lot of the info in it, so its good to reread that as part of this months challenge. I put it off and put it off ---so now I have to stick with it each day or I won't have it done.

Everyone have a great PP day and I'll check in to see what everyone is up to later on.

Great title for this weekend's thread. After weeks of temps in the 70's and 80's it's 33 this morning with a windchill of 21! Needless to say I'm snuggled up good and tight with a roaring fire going.

Gosh, April is almost here! And I'm still writing "2008" on my checks! Yeah, I'm a slow learner. :o As for next month's challenge, I'm going to keep on going with my current challenge -- no more grazing between meals, except for one mid-afternoon snack, and reading good health literature. It probably will take me mostl of April to finish GCBC and then I have Kenrick's The Great Cholesterol Con to delve into. And after Easter I'll be back on here daily for accountablity. Will have an all-out honey tree day on Easter (choose not to give up Cadbury's Creme Eggs).

Down another pound this morning, so only 2 above goal, but I sure would like to get 3 or so below goal to give myself wiggle room.

Have a great weekend, everyone. :)

Good morning, all. Woke up with a terrible sinus headached this morning, so just had a protein shake for breakfast. Didn't feel like cooking, didn't even feel like eating. Took some meds, though, so should be fine shortly.

Good new is, DS and his wife are coming up for a visit today. They only live about 60 miles away, but everyone, (except me) are always so busy we don't see each other as much as we'd like. They both work full-time, take college classes (paid for by their employers) and are remodeling their house, bit by bit. I'm glad they're young and have lots of energy.

We're going out to lunch with them, but don't know where yet. So, I'll have to wait and see 1) what's on the menu that's on plan, and 2) if I can resist the other items.

It's kind of cold here (27 deg); the past few days have been cold and snowy, but skies are clear today. What makes it worse, though, is this after the beautiful spring weather we had a week ago - up into the 70's almost every day.

Hope everyone has a great PP weekend.

Well... i had a great day so far! I made it through my afternoon sugar craving... and apart from the sweats (detox is so fun) I'm doing great. I forgot that cutting carbs cold turkey felt like the flu... And for the TMI segment... I'm passing Yeast and it is GROSS!

For supper I got creative with Cheese & Broccoli Soup. I started with a Heavy Cream Base, added Cheese, then added the Broccoli...added water...added some bacon... a little garlic and salt... (making up for not having chicken stock)... a little onion.... tasty if I do say so my self... although night time I'm going to use Cauliflower as thickener.... I'm so excited!

Our "little winter" has begun in the form of a cold rain. Snow by morning, they say. :peeved: Oh well, March snowstorms don't last. Temps for Monday are in the forties. I'm just glad I don't live along the Red River in ND.

While I was in the shoe store I got a call that the party was off because Mama caught the flu. I'm not all that fond of Chuckie Cheese's, and I'll have the boy tomorrow for an overnight, so I just shopped some more. :D I even ended up with a new cell phone because it was cheaper than buying a battery for the old one.

Sounds like everyone's having a good day!

Feelix, that was indeed "TMI". ;)

Sandy, I had a sinus this morning, too. Mine's gone and I hope yours is!

BC, congrats on the loss. I could not even BEGIN to rationalize Cadbury's. I think knowing I could have Lindt at any time took the edge off of that. My challenge is still potatoes.

Karole, I love listening to the rain!

Feelix, we'll take you ups and downs. I was a yo-yo for years and years--mostly the bottom yo. This forum is a life-saver.

Jackie, I know it hurt to leave the kids. You were very strong.

Stay warm, everyone!

TMI- always smile to make someone scurm a little. Although in REAL LIFE I was not told that this would happen by the doctor. I freaked out and called the clinic and the nurse was all like... "Oh.. that's normal hun! You will be surprised what will come out of ya!" So I don't know what I'm in for... Its been a life time of bad habits and After all my body has been through in the past year, I am not sure what's going I'm going through in the next week!

Thanks for being there with me!

Whew, where did Saturday go???
I ended up going into work, took GF with me. I had four months of credit cards to reconcile and match up receipts. Normally not an issue to keep up, but with the sale it got pushed to the side because there were so many other things to do.
So GF sorted receipts, and I did the entering. Took us 6 hours (minus 1hr for lunch).
UGH...

So now today is Sunday. I'm still in bed, but have had my coffee and read the paper. We're going to have breakfast, then I need to get a lasagna in the oven. I have a meeting on the far side of town (it's about 20 miles straight across downtown Minneapolis), then I'm done for the day. It will be another full day. When do I get my downtime???

Oh wait...last night we watched Mrs. Henderson presents (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0413015/)...what an enjoyable movie. Gotta love Judi Dench.

Hi Ammy, sounds like you a keeping yourself pretty darn busy these days. Wow.

I just finished my exercises for the day--well maybe not as I am hoping my dd comes over and we will get in a walk. She is my dd that likes to walk-- the other one just likes to line dance--oh well, at least I have people that like to do both. Dh has been more into walkint too lately.

HUGS AMY - I do hope that you get a chance to relax a little tonight before tomorrow begins another work week.

As for our Sunday - DH and I are planning to relax the WHOLE day. he has his gaming all afternoon and I plan to craft.

We had "egg pie" left over from yesterday - it made a tasty breakfast a second day... and I'm about to get my coffee going... after a night of troubled sleep, i feel much better today. No sweats, No fever, no chills and no dizziness. Could the sugar curse be broken?

Hi, all! My weekend's just about gone, too. :tear: Took grandblessing to Walmart to buy a video game, which is what he wanted for his birthday. Now he's having his hour of TV time (strictly limited, usually) and I've got some peace. We had company all afternoon, too.

It's been snowing most of the day, but it's above freezing so it's not sticking. It's going to get up to 50F tomorrow, but I expect it will be slippery for the morning commute!

Still doing great... on the detox front... I almost took myself to the ER! I decided to do an acupuncture treatment and THANK GOD that helped! I do hope detoxing is over tonight....

I am in no way an expert, so I ask this question politely. Did you follow Dr. Eades diet to the letter?
I have done the gamet of diets and find it surprising that by following Dr. Eades plan you gained. If you still want to stick with us, please share what you have been eating and the group will help you see where their might be hidden "bad stuff". This group has been tremedously supportive when I have gone through "following the diet", sharing with them and they helped me figure out where hidden carbs and high fats were.. My main enemy is cheese and nuts... although health and relatively low carb - not in the quanitity I was eating them in.

Pardon me for judging here, but it sounds like you feel like you were "doing it right" and still not getting the results you were looking for. That feeling and belief I identify with. I challenge you, if you would like to take me up on it, to see if this is happening in other areas of your life. It seems like our daily diet mimics what's going on inside us.

I give you a dieters HUG. I am there now. I am back from a long time away. If you have read my posts I have been through life difficulties as well as making bad food decisions. I put myself on a stricked diet and am on Day 4. The withdrawal alone has been a big reminder of how addictive carbs can be! Our body will crave them to satisfy the dysfunction that is going on inside.

I hope you still with us!

Hey, there, Sheila. Don't know if my experience will help. . . .
When I first tried low carb - Atkins, about 10 years ago - I thought it was such an easy way to "diet" that I would probably stay with it for life. But after SIX WEEKS on the plan, I had not lost one ounce of weight. I found for me there were two things that stopped my losing. 1) I was over indulging in those wonderful things that the plan said I could have: nuts, cheese, butter, cream cheese. And, like Dr. Atkins said, just because I could have these things, I couldn't have EVERYTHING. 2) That weekend I visited the Atkins website and found that he had revised his attitude about aspartame (Equal), and said that for some people it seemed to block the metabolic pathways by which fat was burned. Well, I was drinking a tremendous amount of diet Pepsi at the time, so I decided to abstain for a while to see what would happen. Well, it took two weeks, then one day I got on the scale, and it was down 2 lbs. Two days later, another 2 lbs. This continued for about a week for a total of 12 lbs.

Now, I'm not saying either of these things apply to you, but even though generalisations can be made about the best way for us to eat, it seems we each have our own individual metabolisms, sensitivities, and quirks, and we have to learn how to work with them and around them to find exactly what's right for us.

I wish you the best of luck in finding your own personal solution.
