Our destiny and ultimate fate depend upon our daily decisions. . . .Tomorrow's joy or tomorrow's despair has its roots in decisions we make today. . . . Those who stand at the threshold of life always waiting for the right time to change are like the man who stands at the bank of a river waiting for the water to pass so he can cross on dry land.
Joseph B. Wirthlin

That’s an interesting way to repeat the phrases about decisions that we’ve heard so many times. I could easily visualize myself on that riverbank!

Welcome to the weekend! I’ve got plenty of organizing and de-cluttering to tackle, plus a wedding shower at noon. What are you up to?

We have some electricians coming on Monday to rewire the "office" and the room next to it - both of which have very old rubber-coated wiring. That means lots of shifting stuff so they can lift floorboards. Not my favourite way to spend a weekend :(.

Good morning, all. I've had a fairly good week except for one very bad decision -- Long John Silver's "London fish and fries". Of course, not really like the wonderful fish and chips I used to get while living in England, but I can dream. I loved the fish and 5 fries and the dog enjoyed the remainder. Have lost another pound this week, so now am 1 lbs. above goal.

Carol -- great quote -- you really are a wonder at finding so many.
Janet, sorry about the weekend repairs -- not fun.

I've been doing some decluttering so am making a dump run today. The dog is already excited -- such great smells out there!

Food is planned, meditation and exercise done, so I'm raring to go. Have a great weekend, everyone. :)

Today will be a cleaning/baking day!!!

The scale as at an all time low this morning, and it feels good.

Still sticking to my detox meal plan. 2 shakes and a light meal. Yesterday I was hungry come evening, so I settled on another shake. I love the new powder I bought and it only has one gram of carbs per serving.!!!

Have a great weekend all.

Carol, the "standing by the river" concept certainly brings the point home doesn't it. How many times have I done that--waited til the exact time is right before doing something. The time is hardly ever "just perfect"--we just gotta plunge in and go for it. Great quote as usual.

DD is coming over later today, but we don't really have any big plans. My week end is pretty unstructured at the moment.

Morning all.
I woke at 7am and heading right to the basement. It's almost 10am and I'm almost done. I'm cleaning out my desk and we're going to set it out on the corner with a "free" sign. Then we're merging our two desktops with a splitter (so we only need one keyboard and monitor) and then we should finally have a space to workout.

GF was called at 5:20 last night (FRIDAY night) with another temp-to-hire job possibility. Again, sounds perfect for her...
keep your fingers crossed...

Food is sort of planned.
7am 1/2 tangelo
9am lasagna soup (glad this is gone, was not my favorite)
12:30pm tuna melt
3pm iced latte, 1oz nuts
5pm 5oz steak, mixed veggies, salad

I haven't entered this into fitday yet, I will once I'm done working. But it should be fine count-wise.

Here's praying the cake stops calling my name.........:jawDrop:

Had a difficult time yesterday, but am right on track so far this morning. Scrambled eggs and ham for breakfast. Today is shopping and library day. We'll probably eat lunch out, so we'll see how it goes.

Amy, I'll keep a good thought for you and that cake!

I'm off to a good start. Egg whites with parmesan and bacon, a cup of tea with lemon. Next up is the treadmill and some free weights. Then the rest of the day is free. For lunch, I'll have sliced turkey. Snack will be plain yogurt w/ sf vanilla and a few almonds. Dinner will be salmon and salad.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Hi, y'all,

Carol, great quote as usual. I can really identify with standing on the riverbank. I believe its the little things done daily that change or stall our life and weight loss for that matter!

Karole, I get my Hood LC from my local Wallmart, I really screamed when they threatened to stop selling it, I spoke to the manager, so for now, they have both white milk and chocolate. Kroger, about 10 miles from me also has the white milk.

Today, it is studying again, writing an assignments.

The scale said I was down 0.4th of a lb, and I will take it.;)

Vivienne, sounds like you have a great day planned foodwise.

Sandy, glad you are on track today. Everyone has difficult days sometimes and they are bummers, I know from experience!

Ammy, put in earplugs so you can't hear the cake. Will keep my fingers crossed for GF and the job.

Karol, it must be so nice to have DD!

Jackie, good luck on the baking/cooking. Hope you have posted the recipes you love. Congrats on the all time low weight!

Mitra, good luck with getting read for the electricians next week.

BC, congrats on the 1 lb above goal! You go girl!

Well, got to go study.....

I am so glad to have this site to come to for support. I appreciate you all so much! :exclamation:

Say, I am flying on business this week, any suggestions for LC food to take with me on the plane and to keep in the hotel room? HELP you travelers out there!

Hugs,

Claudette

Claudette,
Almonds, string cheese, and my favorite...fried turkey bacon. The bacon becomes a jerky.
Fry up Louis Rich (wait, did Oscar Meyer just buy up Louis Rich??) turkey bacon (NOT jennie-o, just the louis rich/oscar meyer)...use a paper towel to dry up any grease. Let it cool. We have carried it for over a week unrefridgerated and it is very satisfying and tastes great!

I just made a tuna melt. I saw the recipe over on another website (Low Carb Friends I think).
Use a small pan...put in a layer of shredded cheese. Cook until crispy (it will bubble, let it bubble for a few minutes, but keep fire med-low so it doesn't burn).
Then take out of pan (I put it on a paper towel to soak up cheese grease, then remove paper towel), then put tuna/mayo mixture on top. Voila...tuna melt. It has that crisp I use to get when I ate tuna with potato chips. Yummy...

No cake so far.........

Hi, all! Glad you liked the quote; I particularly liked the part about waiting for the river to stop flowing.

This morning the tree man came to remove an oak that's leaning towards the house. Our neighbor heats with wood and so came, with his son, to help in the cleanup in exchange for the wood. I left for a wedding shower three hours ago and just got home to eight men busily working in the yard! There's a small backhoe and a chipper and this small army is gathering up branches and chipping them into a pile while the tree man is swinging twenty or thirty feet in the air trimming branches from another tree that threatens our roof. I'm reasonably sure no-one in our neighborhood is napping this afternoon.

The shower food was predictably carby. I had seven-layer salad and fruit, olives, pickles and a 2" square of the veggie pizza. I also won the centerpiece at our table, which is a lovely spring-like arrangement of tulips and baby's breath. :)

Now on to continue the organization that I began this morning.!

Janet, I don't envy you the fuss of all that, but sound wiring will be safer.

Amy, ditto what Claudette said! It's not an option! :paranoid: I like your bacon idea. I think I'll use that when we go to convention in November.

Sandy, how did your lunch go?

Karole, BC, Jackie and Vivienne, it sounds like you've got a plan to follow.

The chipper and chain saw noises have stopped! How nice! :D

Today is winding down here. I took today as a planned rest day from exercise, but did some meditation, so am still on track. I had two phone calls this afternoon from friends asking if they can come and stay. One lot (parents and two seven-year olds) over Easter, and another friend the following weekend. They're all good friends, and I love to see them, but it's rather destroyed my plans for having a nice quiet month getting back to a good routine .

Hi, it was in the 70's again today and nice and sunny--and lots of windy in there too.

But I did get out there and walk with my granddaughter this evening so got that done. I Fitdayed, posted, meditated, and exercised so I am going to go read my book. See ya all tomorrow.

Sandy, how did your lunch go?

Well. . . .Nowhere near as badly as it could have. We went to the buffet at a local Chinese restaurant. This is one of the few places we go to where it's difficult to stay completely on plan. I stayed away from the deep fried things with the exception of one fried wonton w/cream cheese. I had a small helping of cashew chicken, and an even smaller helping of a beef and vegetable item (the label was missing for this one.) I found cashew chicken of dietfacts.com, but it listed the serving size as weight, so I can only guess. Anyway, I'm guesstimating < 20 ECC total, which is high for one meal, but my daily count will still be < 40. I think I'll try to avoid that restaurant for a while!

Good morning, all. It's blowing a gale today as a norther comes roaring through--temps are dropping quickly. I doubt we will have our palm procession at church this morning.

Was nicely on target yesterday for food, exercise, and the extras. Plan on being so today as well. My main task after church will be to empty all the kitchen drawers and wash the contents as mice have taken over again. I get so tired of those little critters causing me more work! Nothing I've used gets rid of them, including an electronic thingamagig that is supposed to use the house's electric current to deter them. And I can't find out where they are coming in. Ah well, the price of living in the country.

Have a great day, everyone. :)

We had lovely sunshine for our Palm Sunday procession, but it's looking cloudy and likely to rain any time now.

This morning I moved a bit of stuff in preparation for the electricians - and found an old woollen rug just crawling with moths . It was one I'd bought about 20 years ago on holiday in Morocco, so I was sorry to have to throw it out, but they'd eaten it beyond easy repair, and it wasn't an expensive one, or one that we'd used for ten years or more, so it seems better to get rid of it than risk it just spreading more moths round the house. It's not just the country that suffers from critters, BC :), though we haven't had mouse trouble recently. When we first lived here, I was sitting in the living room one evening, talking on the phone to my husband (he must have been away on business) when a mouse wandered across the room stood up on its hind legs and started drinking my wine - I'd left the glass on the floor. It took ages to get rid of them, but they do seem to have stayed away.

Good morning. I'm happily watching my Sunday morning news shows. Had my usual great egg white/parm/bacon breakfast. We're meeting someone for lunch, but I will order a salad with chicken. Then dinner will be at home and controlled.

Sorry about the critter trouble Brigit-Carol (mice)... and Mitra (moths). Yikes! Always horrifying to discover. But so satisfying to be rid of them with everything clean.

Sandy... I've pretty much given up on Chinese food as anything but an off-plan meal. It's impossible to control what they put in the food to thicken and flavor it. And even if I manage to choose wisely, I still WANT an egg roll and rice and noodles and General Tsao chicken! Not that I ever give in. But it's hard. So I just stay away. :-(

I will do well on my food today. And I will get to the gym. So today will be good. Hope everyone has a great day. :-)

Hey y'all,
Thanks Ammy for the tips on traveling. Will put them to use for sure.

Janet, the mouse drinking the wine story had me LOL! Don't have any trouble with them in the 'burbs, but when we lived on acerage, the field mice were quite a problem. You sound like a fabulous hostess.

BC, it is windy today in Texas. Glad you had a good day yesterday.

Sandy, sometimes we just have to hang in there as restuarants aren't always lc friendly. Looks like you are doing pretty well.

Karole, now that you have met all your goals, your book reading sounds so inviting.

Carol, sounds like you did pretty well at your carby shower yesterday.

Today,
I am excited, turned in my first lessons for a grade in my 1st MSN course!
Now, the wait is on untill prof gets the grades back to me via email. :D

Today, on plan:
b- lc pancake mix w/ butter, lc syrup, (will make my own mix, this one was not as good as I had hoped).
l- green tossed salad w/ lc dressing, cup strawberries w/ splenda, lc tortilla wrapped around lettuce, low fat cheddar, no preservative deli chicken w/ mayo, tea.
S- nuts of some kind
D-planned: leftovers, beef with green veggie, sf pudding.

Now,
DH and I are heading off for classical voice lessons for the first time in several weeks. These keep him up to speed for the Symphony Chorus he sings in, (his hobby for 30 years, it's volunteer, tryouts yearly) mostly professional folks in the chorus, no pay, but lots of hard work. Voice for me keeps my lungs in shape, gives me a whale of a cardiac workout and gives the DH and I something to do together. Due to grad school, we only go twice a month now.

Well, off we go. Will check in tomarrow.

Sorry to hear about the motheaten rug -- I don't do anything woolen here for the same reason. Your mouse story really made me laugh! A wino rodent.:D Mine have to make do with what they can scavange -- stale crackers and water. I do wish I could find their "door" and block their getting in.

We did not have a procession this morning -- just too windy and cold. Our priest wanted to but enough of us rebelled that he gave in -- smart man.

I won't be on-line during this week, so will "see" you all on Easter. Have a great week. :)

Yes, the mouse stories are entertaining! I lived without wool for years just because my mother would get frantic when she found a mothworm. Then I found the Geezer and he loves woolens of every kind. :paranoid: So far I haven't had a moth problem. I am vigilant, however. ;)

I had a strange day. I felt bad enough with this cold that I decided not to go to church and sneeze on everyone, but I found some multi-symptom pills, which enabled me to blend in. I had plans to do more organizing in a leisurely fashion, but that job was accelerated when I learned we were getting company. Those friends stayed for a few hours, so I sat most of the afternoon. As soon as they left, I made a quick supper because we hadn't eaten since before church.

I made a cold chicken dish with a diced breast, diced swiss cheese and some crushed almonds with mayo. I can't call it a salad, but it was tasty. I'll have some carrots to round it off.

I photographed the tulips I brought home from the shower yesterday. I made a dozen tries with f4.5 and finally got a good one with f8. I don't remember how to get it here without uploading it to the internet, but I'll work on it.

The day went great.
Janet and Brigit-Carol YIKES.............I am terrified of both moths and mice. You are both stronger women than I.

My detox is going well, tomorrow I am starting to up my calorie intake. So I'll see how the energy increases.
Food today consisted of:
Breakfast: pear protein shake
Lunch: pumpkin shake
dinner: homemade greek salad ohhhh it was good.
I will round off the day with another shake.(to make sure I get my protein in)

Tomorrow is my mid-point weigh in with my friend, we entered a local Biggest Loser contest. I wanted to do a alot better, but since the weigh in on Jan 11 I have lost 12 pounds:rolleyes:. I was really hoping for between 15-20. But I will take it!!! I started PP at the end of November so my 22 pound loss is something to be proud off. I have till the third week in June for the contest (I really don't care too much about the contest, I am happier with the fact that I have made a life change) However, it sure works as a good motivator, especially when my friend is also a collegue at work! We are there for each other!

Exercise was awesome today!

Good job Jackie. 22 pounds is fantastic. You've been working the plan and it shows.

Today I got it all in again, so 5 for 5. I almost forgot the meditation part. It's not quite a habit yet. I'm hoping it will help out the ol bp--I still want to get off this last med.

Tomorrow is my mid-point weigh in with my friend, we entered a local Biggest Loser contest.I'm glad that works for you, Jackie. It seems every time I enter a contest it has the opposite effect and I start stress-eating. Cheers for your exercise today!

Uneventful evening. I just had some cheese and lc crackers with a cup of herb tea, so I hope I don't get indigestion tonight. Cheese can give me crazy dreams. I'll watch the weather report and head for bed. Windy and snowy, yuck!
