Thus we are led from obligation to obligation, and each time we say "yes," we tell ourselves that we are saying it "Just this once" and that tomorrow will be better. But tomorrow is seldom better except as we have the backbone to make it better. In matters of eating and appetite, people often go from one indulgence to another, always saying to themselves, "Just this once, Tomorrow I begin to diet." "Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow."
Richard L. Evans

This seems like a Monday quote, doesn’t it? I should tattoo it to the back of my hand. Do you have problems with obligations pulling you off-program? What will you do about it?

I’m putting this up a bit early because I’m on vacation this week I don’t intend to set my alarm. ;)

Breakfast will be a protein shake. Lunch and dinner, TBD. I’ve got plenty to choose from, plus I’m going to be shopping.

It's not exactly obligations pulling me off my program that are a problem for me, just that I don't have much energy at the moment and can easily end up exhausted if I say yes to every obligation that comes along. I am getting better at choosing, though I still tend to feel guilty when I say no.

I'll probably be off-line while our electricians are at work, so I won't be able to report in, but I'll keep up with my challenge commitments :).

Have a good week everybody.

Hi Janet, I don't envy you having people there to work in your house. I always hate that, but the results are always worth it.

Hope you are still enjoying your snooze, ms Carol !! And that you don't have a lot of snow to wade through when you're up and about. Does this seem like the looongest winter in forever?? It seems like we can't shake it.

It's pretty cold here today and tonight we are supposed to set records. ugh. Not looking forward to that. But at least it is going to be in the 60's after that. We have a 4 day trailride planned for the weekend of the 18th so hopefully all this stuff will be cleared out by then. (Crossing my fingers)

As for the quote of the day-- I do believe Mr. Evans must have been spying on me for several years of my life-- Something would always happen (or as Carol says"Life intervened" ) and it was tomorrow, tomorrow , tomorrow.

Great quote, Carol. Especially the "tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow." How many times have I succumbed to that line of thinking! But not today! I've had my breakfast and as soon as I post this message, I'm heading up to the treadmill. I'll throw in ten minutes of free weights too.

Karole... that is a weird weather pattern you've been having. I'm in L.A. and I'm praying we get rain tomorrow. It's predicted, but it's so clear and blue outside. It was 83 yesterday, and I'm not just ready for summer. We also need the water since it didn't rain much this winter. So we're wishing for opposite weather. I'll send you mine if you send me yours!

brk: egg whites, flax muffin
lunch: two chicken hot dogs w/ mustard
snack: soy nuts
dinner: salmon and salad, jello w/ bit of whipped cream
snack: one slice of green apple, half ounce of swiss cheese

It does take some resolve to say no, and there are so many worthy causes! I'm practiced enough now to not worry what someone will think if I decline a request. I'd rather do that than deal with the resentment. I hope you have your guest rooms by the time you need them!

We'll look forward to your return, Claudette. Enjoy Boston!

DS took me car-shopping today. I sat in a couple, but mostly we looked to see what was available. We've got it narrowed down to a Ford Escape and a Jeep Grand Cherokee, probably about five years old. My father was a Ford man, also a mechanic, and he'll probably come back to scold me if I picked the Jeep. Funny how those thoughts remain.

Breakfast was two cups of coffee with cream and a hastily munched handful of almonds on the way out the door. Lunch is more organized; a mushroom swiss burger with a few onions thrown in for good measure. Dinner looks like steak on the grill. I've got them thawed already and I'll get some salad when I shop for groceries later.

Yes, obligations and other things pull me off plan. This weekend I derailed myself, since it was my birthday on Sunday. Hubby took me out to many wonderful places where I ate many tasty but carb-laden things. :( This coming Tuesday is my nephew's birthday, so I must again confront one of my major weaknesses...cake. And Easter dinner at my MIL's is rolling around...I should be able to pick some decent foods there, but there will, again, be more "special occasion" temptations where everyone will say "Oh, it won't hurt you just this once...." (Yes, yes it can because it's never just this once. It's a whole year filled with "special events" and holidays with their special foods that don't fit into this WOE.)

Today I've had a big glass of "Calorie Countdown" dairy beverage for breakfast, a half cup of pecan halves as a snack, and I'm about to launch out for lunch. I'm thinking a visit to my grocery store's "bistro" should provide a serving of meat and some good veggies. If not, the salad bar has hard-boiled eggs and some good veggie choices.

Dinner? We're taking KFC over to Mom's for a late birthday meal. I'm thinking we'll get individual meals, and I can get something *not* coated in breading (or peel the breading off), plus some green beans.

Oh, Jill, that's where they have the green beans! I've been trying to remember. People look at me like I'm nuts when I say I got green beans at a fast-food place. They were good, too, as I recall.

Birthdays are hard. The Geezer now gets me flowers and a Lindt 85% bar. Before, it was a box of sf Russell Stovers or Turtles, which I would overeat and suffer the "consequences". I can see that I've slowly been making the world revolve around me. Without my family and friends looking out for me, it would be much harder. Even my co-workers only offer me fruit any more (as they're scarfing bagels and smoothies).

Way to go, Vivienne! :D

The "bistro" was good to me for lunch...pork chops smothered in mushrooms, peppers, and cheese, grilled asparagus, and some mixed grilled veggies (in what I am hoping is butter).

NOM!!!!!

And yes, the KFC green beans are good! They have a bit of bacon and onion in them. I'll get a dinner with two sides of green beans (since there aren't any other really friendly side dishes), and I'll enjoy them! :)

Just a moment or two and I have to leave for my line dancing lessons. I've got my other "chores" done as well so 6/6 so far.

Hi everyone, meeting (weigh in tonight, I was happy with a 9lb loss and about 5 inches) Then groceries.

I am short in time so I may not get to Fitday tonight, one of my goals is to start getting up early to exercise which means in bed by 10 and sleeping by 11pm. I only have 1/2 left and tons to do!!! The tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow quote is so fitting. But honestly some days I have no idea how to fit it all in.

Breakfast: pumkin shake
snack: yogurt
lunch: greek salad and 2 pieces of chicken
snack: 20 almonds
dinner: chicken caesar salad

I know I am probably over on my carbs as the yogurt I had was not carb friendly:(
