CardioChek is a machine that measures cholesterol.
I picked one up for $40 and it had a $10 rebate on the box!
It's an excellent way to check cholesterol for just $4! :)
Amazon is selling them for $79.99.

I purchased a CardioChek (http://cardiochek.com/) monitor because I have targets that I want to reach and maintain for cholesterol. Wal-Mart has them on sale for $40 with a mail in $10 rebate. The test strips (http://cardiochek.com/customerservice/productinstructions) are $12 for 3 strips. That means I can check my cholesterol for less than the co-pay of a doctors visit, I don't have to leave my house and I can have my coffee at 7 AM, LOL!!! I posted results bellow, I think it is very accurate and will post here when I have my quarterly done at Quest Diagnostics in July... I will test with the CardioChek before going to Quest. The device has been certified to meet both accuracy and precision requirements by the NCEP as issued through the Centers for Disease Control.

The device measures Total Cholesterol, HDL and Triglycerides. LDL is calculated; LDL = Total Cholesterol - HDL - (Triglycerides ÷ 5). The test strips come in a box of 3 test strips included in the box (http://cardiochek.com/whycardiochek/ourtechnology) is a chip that plugs into the CardioChek device along with 3 spring loaded pick pins  and 3 capillary tubes to collect the drop of blood to place on the test strip that is slid into the CardioChek device.

When I plugged the HDL chip into the CardioChek device it displayed an error. I called customer service, talked to a real person within 30 seconds and they took down my name and address and I received the new HDL test strips within 3 days... so kudos to their customer service (http://cardiochek.com/customerservice/faqs). :D

I'm mostly interested in the trend with the goal of settling in a range, the CarcioChek is excellent this purpose, IMHO. The first 2 CardioChek's didn't include HDL. I really didn't care about this reading until I was below 200 total cholesterol, but I'm glad to see by exercise is paying off. ;)

I wouldn't worry about the LDL. Your triglycerides have improved greatly! Congrats! :)
