Unless you are prepared to give up something valuable you will never be able to truly change at all, because you'll be forever in the control of things you can't give up.
Andy Law
I was once told about a certain food, “When you can take it or leave it, you can have it.” I know there are some things that I’ll always have to avoid. I accept that. Most days…..;)
Breakfast will be a protein shake, Lunch will be a burger and raw carrots. Dinner will be roast beef and green beans.

You'd think that the quote for today was written for me. Have to give up computer for a while and a wonderful part of my life has been amputated. Being incommunicado is the worst part of not being able to see really well out of that left eye. Retina is still OK and that's the most important part.
PP is doing super. Have finally gotten the plan under control and am able to work it. As Max says, if you work the plan it works for you. Am at a happy 70 kilos (let's round that out to 158lbs more or less) and I have begun to realise that my maintenance weight will probably be just that. All my clothes are hanging so the muscle tone is doing wonderfully...can't complain about that at all. Have eliminated all the wonderful 'flax breads, scones etc' which I so love (another sacrifice from that quote today - I can live without them for a while) and have begun enjoying the wonderful 'dry' delicatessen which is found in Italy - speck, pancetta 'stagionate' which means aged to a 'tender jerky' point.
Sending you all some very special hellos and a happy EASTER and Passover to everyone. Don't know when I will be back in but I hope after my appt with the Doc after the 20th. Don 't close my journal guys...
PS: when I go to the STATES I will try to get into PPower while there. For some reason I can't seem to open my account when I am on another computer. Tried from a friend's house to see if I could remember password etc but it doesn't remember me...HELP (send me a PM with instructions eventually, THANKX)

Puddin, I hope the eye appointment goes well.
Good quote again, Carol :). Definitely food for thought there.
I have visitors arriving today, and before they get here we have to finish removing all the stuff that was stored in the guest bedrooms from the rooms that were being rewired on Mon & Tue. Between my fragile back, my husbands bad ankle, and his having to keep getting back to his computer to do some work, it's slow going, but we did manage to get most of it done yesterday, so I'm hopeful we can have their rooms usable by the time they arrive :).
The visitors will be here 'til Monday, but I'm sure I'll be able to drop in from time to time to keep up with things here :).

Down to 221 today (from 223 yesterday, forget where I left, somewhere between 219 and 221), so at least some of the weight over 218 is water and quick. That'd be nice.
Boss is away, so today I can get caught up with some things. Not that the boss is away and the mice play (although the review of Idol auditions a couple cubes over would seem to put a lie to that), just that new work doesn't flow in (big new work) while the boss is out of the office. We, as an office, are up for a big deal Federal Excellence award. Get comped to a big deal luncheon and award ceremony for Fed employees of the year awards. I do not know how they even out the smaller agencies (DOL) from the bigger ones (like DOD) so that voting doesn't get skewed, but if they have a way, would be fun to win.
In other news... I am going to buy myself some cool new shoes IF (and only IF) I can get the scale to stay under 220 from whenever I get it there through memorial day.
Oh Carol...way to hit home for me today...
I didn't have a piece of cake last night...........but I did have a couple bites of GF's. It's weird. I LIKE cake, but I'm not addicted to it (or AM I?? :suspicious: ). I just get on kicks of eating the same thing...and I think that's where I am with it.
And I keep saying I won't have any more AFTER EASTER...I'm not sure what will be served at Easter, but for some reason I want to leave the door open...?? Gee...words from an addict??
food is planned again for today. No reason to even be AROUND cake tonight AND the cake sale is over (they were selling 1 piece for $1.50, now it's back up to $2.39. Price DOES matter when it comes to foods).
All good signs for me.
7am lc scones (I have made these even tinier so I could still have two, but not have all the calories)
8:30am egg souffle with s.cream

2pm 4.5oz chix breast
6pm turkey taco with con queso, s.cream, flat out
8pm 1oz dry roasted peanuts

I know what you mean, Puddin. I'm so glad you checked in, even though I deduced you don't live anywhere near the earthquake near Rome.
My right eye has never been the same, so I'm making do with my left eye for fine detail. It works well enough with a camera, but awkward for shooting.
I would rather live without sweets than live without an internet connection.

I did suggest that he left the big heavy speakers until they arrived, but he's done them on his own . His ankle has been improving, but he went to a meeting in London on Tuesday and ended up doing a lot of walking, and it still doesn't like that.
Apparently our guests are currently sitting in a major Easter traffic jam on the motorway :(.

I apprecialted everyone's advice yesterday about my eating--I just get too impatient sometimes. I think I needed to eat more food. I'm going to snack more on protein--but I think my biggest thing is just staying busy. Then I can be happy, and, well--too busy to eat.
Another thing that was driving me crazy was that my cupboards were pretty bare, and I didn't have any drink choices except water and coffee. Today I feel much more in control with a few ounces of diet v-8 in the am, and a diet cola with my snack. It just gives me something to look forward to.
Today--long walk in the park and toning exercises with dh.
breakfast-Atkins bar, coffee, diet v-8 (2 oz.)
lunch-quarter pounder w/cheese on an oopsie roll:) unsweet iced tea
dinner-roast beef and 2 cheese sticks
snack-cottage cheese with strawberries
I've just noticed I no veggies-haha. I'll eat a big salad (lettuce and cukes) when my family has their dinner later:)
As yummy as my menu sounded today, it got mixed up.
My salad buddy couldn't leave (computer crash issues) so I had the sausage casserole I've had all week.
Then I had an iced latte and 2oz of nuts...(1almond, 1peanut)
Tonight we're having chix taco's. My calories are higher than I like, so I MIGHT decide to cut back on the s.cream...but then again, as long as it's not from CAKE would it be so awful to have higher calories for a day???

Hi Everyone. Hope you all are having a productive and good day. Your words, Carol, ring so true. I'm hungry today because of my increased exercise so even thinking about food is a mine field. A battle for control! But so far, I remain in the driver's seat.
I got lots of busy work done this morning. This afternoon is for real work... brain work. And since I had a great treadmill/free weights session earlier, I feel ready and rarin' to go.
My food for today:
B -- protein shake, 2 fiber crackers with a bit of almond butter
L -- turkey slices and 1/2 a small apple
S -- 4 ounces of sf vanilla yogurt
D -- salad with grilled chicken, sf jello, diet tonic

Glad you don't mind, Friendly. I didn't look back to see if you keep a count of your protein and ecc's, but it might be helpful. It can keep you from over-eating and it can also keep you from under-eating, both of which will slow your progress.

My calories are higher than I like, so I MIGHT decide to cut back on the s.cream...but then again, as long as it's not from CAKE would it be so awful to have higher calories for a day???You know my answer to that, not that I'm any expert. Too many carbs is worse than too many calories in my book. I think it's very important to really enjoy the foods that are on our plan. I tend to be a little obsessed with blood sugar numbers and insulin resistance, but I am past being paranoid about food. So far.

My food plan was, again, nothing like I planned. I had bacon and eggs for breakfast, a roast beef on flatout with carrots for lunch, a half banana and sf jello for a snack and it looks like pork chops for din. I don't think I'll have any problem reaching my goals today.

Home again and worn out. I didn't even go to line dancing tonight as we didn't get back til 6 pm. and I still had to eat supper and put groceries away. I hate that I am missing it but my couch is really calling me.
I did get my stuff in Fitday, I did my exercise and meditation before we left and I have posted so I get a star for the day or whatever cyber thingie is out there.;)

Breakfast today was a small hamburger patty, 2 eggs, and 2 small pieces of bacon. Lunch was liver sausage, romaine lettuce w/mayonnaise. Supper was just a protein shake. I think I need to try to get a few more vegetables, but otherwise things are going well.
