Hi Starfish,
I'm not sure if it's the best way, but this is what I've figured out to do:
1.) I build out the full recipe in this free recipe calculator site I've found:
http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp
2.) I insert the number of servings that I think it makes. There is a special button that you push and it gives you the full nutritional breakdown for one serving.
3.) I open Fitday.com and 'create custom food'. I size my web window of Fitday so that it fits on my screen with the 'nutritional info for one serving' window from the sparkspeople site side-by-side.
4.) I manually copy all the data into the Fitday - and I name the food using the serving amount as part of the name, e.g., "Cheesy Cauli-turkey bake, 1/8 casserole serving" so I know what the nutrition info refers to. Save.
5.) Now, every time you eat that food, you can just choose it from your 'custom foods' from Fitday!
Hope this helps!

Glad you like it!
Star...another idea is this.
Put all the ingredients in fitday so that the "food eaten today" is your recipe.
PRINT OUT THE PAGE!
Then I figure out how many servings it is going to be.
Then I find a food item similar. For example, when I make fauxtato salad (potato salad made with cauliflower instead of potatoes, I start with a potato salad already in fitday. Then change the servings to the number of servings your recipe makes (my fauxtato salad makes 8 - 1 cup servings) then hit "edit this food".
Re name it, then enter your totals from the printout.
Save the food item.
This food can now be found in your "custom food list", and since you entered the entire recipe, it will break down the servings to how much you are actually having.
Oh, and with the printout, I write what I named it and any other cooking hints, and put it in a ring binder photo album.
That way I can take out the page when I'm cooking and use it as my recipe, and also the page is sort of "laminated" in case I spill.
Just another idea.

I do it how Amy does it.
Go forward one day in Fitday.
Enter all items in the recipe into Fitday.
Total the day.
Then, I create a new custom food.
I enter the whole recipe as the custom, so I can then portion it with decimals.
Lot of ways to do it.
