I am beginning to think I may have GERD rather than a goiter but have not had a chance to see doctor yet. Sometimes I feel acid moving from stomach to throat. Has anyone with GERD or acid reflux been helped by low carb? Thanks.

Absolutely! I used to take medicine for it for years. Eating low carb has taken care of the problem. Isn't it great?

Since I have been on low carb I have not had acid reflux at all. The other day at a birthday party, I ate some ice cream cake and within two hours had a very bad case of acid reflux that lasted an hour. No more ice cream cakes for me. I knew better in the first place but I always have to push the envelope.

Same with me ... after being on Prilosec for about a dozen years, I'm completely off it now. I actually found a research article that supported the idea that LC diets seem to help: Low Carb Helps GERD article (http://www.springerlink.com/content/m731qxk14guq1j06/?p=ba4135c09d6e43b1a9e0eadf90526f68&pi=2).

A ton of people have reported their reflux or GERD to be completely solved with LC within a matter of days or weeks. I am one of the ton.
I have not met anyone, to my recollection, who had reflux or GERD and did not have it helped/eliminated by going LC. I am sure there are people with other issues, but I cannot recall anyone who hasn't been improved. That's nearly 7 years of talking to people about LC.
I am still on my Prilosec, but it's related to coffee not food.
I can eat very "irritating" food and not have any issues, but coffee still kills me. Could be that I'm drinking sludge. Only one cup, and it's expensive tasty fresh special sludge...but it's still thick sludge. :o

High acid content in good coffees.
