Hi Everyone,

I have been following the Protein Power regimen for about 4 weeks now and I am always looking for flavored beverages that don't contain artificial sweetners. Hence, I came upon SoBe LifeWater 0 Calorie, sweetened with stevia and erythritol. Since I haven't been able to figure out how to do a search on this forum yet, can anyone tell me how the carbs in this should be counted? I'm hoping these are able to be included in my first phase. Here is the label breakdown:

2.5 serving per bottle
Total Carb 6g
Sugars 0g
Fiber 0g

Thanks much in advance! :D

Welcome, Trevor :). The search function is not available until your membership of the site is confirmed - I've just done that, so you should be able to see it now.

Stevia doesn't contribute any carbs. The erythritol is more complex. Some people find that sugar alcohols affect their blood sugar almost as much as sugar, and some find they have a very small effect. A general rule of thumb seems to be to count them as 1/3 to 1/2 the number of grams (which is often rather more than the "net carbs" claim on some products).

Maybe someone with a bit more experience can add more info?

Well, math aside, I avoid anything with sugar alcohols. I can't lose weight with them, and they keep me craving sweets. I'm fond of an herb tea that has sweetness from anise mixed in. I normally don't care for anise, but the tea (iced) is clean and refreshing. I believe it's called Good Earth and I get it online. Zero carb. Good luck Trevor.

I don't know why I like it as most people I talk to can't stand it but... I prefer plain ol' iced tea, unsweetened even.

I recently had to kick the diet soda habit to help get me back on track.

Spruce, I like my tea unsweetened too. I've used it that way for over 50 years even before I ever heard about low carb anything. I like the flavor of the tea not the sweetness. Don't sweeten my coffee either.

Hrm. Something doesn't add.
It has 6g of carbs per 8 ounce serving. But it has zero calories. 6g of carb is 24 kcal, unless you have a good reason why that particular carb is non-caloric.

Ingredients for the Yumberry Pomegranite (first one that came up)
Ingredients, Sources of carbs in bold.
FILTERED WATER, ERYTHRITOL, NATURAL FLAVOR, CITRIC ACID, ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C), XANTHAN GUM, CALCIUM LACTATE, POTASSIUM CITRATE, REB A (PureVia Brand), MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, COCHINEAL EXTRACT (COLOR), VITAMIN E ACETATE, CALCIUM PHOSPHATE, GUM ARABIC, GINGER EXTRACT, DANDELION ROOT EXTRACT, CALCIUM PANTOTHENATE, NIACINAMIDE, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B6), CYANOCOBALAMIN (VITAMIN B12).

Any info on how sweet, relative to sugar, PureVia Reb A (I think we call this stevia in the non-branded world) is? We might work some math to figure out how much of the carb is erith (worth counting, probably .5g/g is a useable quick math number), how much is Reb A (I'd count that at .5g/g until I researched it more), and modified food starch (that's a 1g/g count).

Or you could just call it 6g.

I am sure I don't need to say this, but please be aware that the nutritional information listed is for an 8 ounce serving and that a bottle of the stuff is 20 ounce, meaning you can multiply whatever you come up with by 2.5 to get your final number.

I think you could make a case for counting it anywhere between 2.5 and 18g per bottle.

Ultimately, you cannot have your sweet and your natural and your low sugar at this point in time.

you cannot have your sweet and your natural and your low sugar at this point in time. yeah Not at first.

But I think you can have all three after the sweet tooth goes back down to pre-industrial levels. Really ripe fresh blueberries and whipped cream are amazing! and give me all three of those things. It took a while though.

I agree with that.

Have been enjoying (in my more relaxed approach) white currants.
1 cup:
Cals: 63
Fat: <1g
Carb: 15g
Fiber: 5g
Protein: 2g

I got about a half cup with about a half cup of blueberries and some whipped cream.
They give a nice sharp finish to the blueberries, which, I got some decent tart ones.

It takes time. But I don't think fruit juice is an option, even from berries. And I think that was OP's problem.
