I have been reading this board for several months, but this is my first time to post.....and I feel like I'm probably in the wrong pew at the right church! But, I have a question, so here goes. What do the Drs. Eades think of organic expeller pressed soybean oil? I've found it listed in the ingredients of a delicious dressing. I reduced my FBS by 36 points in 3 weeks with PP.

Welcome and congrats on the FBS - tell us a bit about yourself ... very few of us actually bite ... much ... well not for ages! Are you a diabetic?
As to the soybean oil I would say the good drs would suggest you leave it alone - and pretty much anything else connected with soy. You are better off to make your own dressing with EVOO or perhaps macadamia oil.

Thanks for your reply, mcsblues. Google tells us that expeller pressed soybean oil EPSBO is manufactures without the use of chemical solvents or refining caustics and is free of trans fats. Does this change your mind? (I really want this dressing to be friendly with PP:-) I am not a diabetic, but found that my FBS was starting to creep up (114). Because my Dad was type 2 diabetic, I knew that I did not want to go down that road! With a tiny bit of reasearch I found PP, bought the books and immediately followed the advice. The FBS now stays in the 70's-80's.

Raw soy is most likely very bad.
Expeller pressing is basically using a big screw to press on something until the oil comes out, in this case soy beans. In the case of something like Olives or coconuts, this is a good thing. In the case of soy beans, I wouldn't touch it. Others are welcome to their differences of opinions, but given the mounting evidence of phytoestrogens and their effect on people, particularly male people, I am not interested.

Yes, the other major reason to avoid soybean oil is it is very high in omega 6 - We get too much omega 6 fats as it is.
Fear of diabetes is one of the reasons that had me looking for a better way myself. Have you had any luck convincing your Dad to follow your lead?

You might find that extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) is a good substitute if you are making the dressing; it has a very slight taste so doesn't interfere with other flavorings as much.

Good EVOO will have a pronounced taste. Cheap EVOO will have a mild taste.
If you are looking to replace an oil with olive oil and want something that is close to flavor neutral, you will do better with Virgin or just regular Olive Oil. EVOO is for flavor, the others are for the fat.
PS- don't buy cheapo EVOO. It is more expensive than regular Olive Oil, and is not really any better. If you want cheap, buy Cold Pressed or whatever they are calling the third pressing of Olives these days. If you want flavor, spring for a good EVOO.
