Well, I've was nosing around the blogs again and read M Eades on IF. Personally, I've always felt that breakfast sat like a lump especially since upping protein on PP. So I'm curious whether any of you long-timers do regular or periodic IF in combination with PP?

He says it doesn't lower metaboolic activity - anyone notice one way or the other?

(I hope this isn't too off-topic - I figure M Eades brought it up!;))

Good health,
Sharvo

If you read Dr. Mike on IF, and make sure you read through to the end, you might find that it's not as useful as the Eades used to think.

I think IF is probably useful as a stall breaker. It is possibly useful as a way to reset your appetite's meter reader. Might be useful if you a binge eater, might be really bad if you are a binge eater.

Ultimately, there isn't magic in it for everyone. A lot of people enjoy it. A lot of people don't. I do not think there is magic in it, and most everyone I know who uses IF loses some weight due to caloric restriction, but they put it back when they revert to normal meals and they revert to their normal rate of loss once they get acclimatized to it.

That was the informative part.

Here's the annoying part.

You might try and work the program as written for 20-30 lbs before trying out alternative theories of approach.

Here's a caveat:
If you do IF, on say an 18/6 plan, you should not consume more than 10g of carbs at a meal, regardless of the reduced number of meals. It is not a window to eat whatever you like and call it protein power. It is an alternative meal timing strategy, but ultimately the PP rules should still be in effect: Minimum protein, 7-10g of carbs to a meal, no more.
