View Full Version : Fitday Users - What do macronutrient ratios look like?

Hey everyone,
I'm going to give fitday a try for a couple of weeks and see if it can help me get going on losing weight/being healthier.

Although my food log shows that my carbs are in the right range, I'm curious what the ratios of fat and protein look like in others' diets (and what ratios people have been successful with).

I know this kind of goes against the PP plan of <30-40g ECC, >minimum g protein, the rest fat. But I'm just curious what people are doing.

For example, yesterday I was sedentary, but I was around 2200 cals, 130+g protein and fat, minimal carbs. Even though I was fighting off hunger when I went to bed, I still had a net weight gain when I got up this morning. Now I know not to get too worked up over one day, but I'm hopeful that fitday will help me figure out the best ratios for the long run.

I don't track daily but looking back over my previous results:
56-66% fat
33-39% protein
2-4% carbs

Those days are the last 3 times that I tracked a day. Those days were way below carb levels (should probably up them some to add some extra fruits/veggies since I hav the clearance).

Ratio is not important.

For loss, caloric deficit is ultimately important.
For maintenance, low carb is ultimately important.

With those caveats out of the way, when I am working on it and logging fitday and working hard, it's about 5-8% carb, then protein to fat matched about gram to gram, which means about 29-31% protein and the rest fat. With total calories in the 1400-1800 range.

I don't have mine with me at my computer but I usually do:

60 g protein
40 g carb
90 g fat

Whatever that percent turns out to be.

I aim for what Max mentioned...
less that 40net carbs, and equal grams of protein fat.
If I find my protein is a bit low, I add more fat.

% look like this.
61% fat
31% pro
8% carbs

I don't really aim. So, some days have more bacon, some days have more chicken. All days have >120g protein. All days have <40g carbs. Fat goes up and down. Protein goes up some, but never down much. Carbs go down, but rarely to 40. That takes dreamfields.
