Okay, all you Movers and Shakers, let's start the week out with some action! :) The cat's away again. (maybe we should tie a bell on that girl!)

I'm on my way to the gym as we speak for some lower body work. What are your plans for the week?

Good thought. We'll find some brave person to post about not wanting to exercise. That should do it, don't you think? :D And, no, I'm not volunteering!

I refuse to exercise not only this week but for the whole month of September. I will not get off my tush or off the couch. I will also not do my resistance against food and eat like a couch potato.

And Shadow can't make me!!!! Na nananana :D

It was sooo nice knowing you Issy.:tear::tear: Poor Poor Issy,.... she was such a nice girl too. until ...well you know.... sk, tsk, Poor, Poor Issy.:tear::tear::slywink:

Did ground work with a horse for one hour today and the rest of my exercise has been reading about resistance exercise...no, no not doing any....but I did get out Fred Hahn and reread Slow Burn and if I can find my timer and metronone I may start that on Monday. That's progress.

Just got back from the gym and finished my lunch. I went today because I didn't get there Friday night, so now I feel vindicated!

Hi, Karole! Groundwork with a horse must be some fancy footwork, right?

Rode around collecting up some donations for the charity ride coming up in 11 days . Ended up with a 20 mile ride with a stop at the gym in the middle for an upper body workout! Kinda proud of myself...:p I have pretty much decided just to stay at this gym and get used to all the new staff, I don't spend tons of time there anyway and the classes, included in the membership fee, are good. Going to get the push mower out and do one more workout today.

It's getting a bit rowdy around here!

Normally today would be upper body resistance. However, by the way my muscles feel today, I got plenty of that yesterday. Nothing debilitating, but definitely some soreness. So I think I may just do some stretching and gentle moving today, and get back into my regular routine tomorrow.

Typing this reminded me of a recent "Okay; that makes me feel old" moment. My son (he's 33, dropped out of high school, later got his GED, and is doing wonderfully) recently told me that in a college class that he's been taking he was told it is no longer considered correct to double space after a period. Apparently with computers, word processors, etc., it's not thought to be necessary. I don't know, though, if I can train my thumb to just hit that space bar once. Oh, well. Things change.

To those of you who are M&S, being true not only to me, but more importantly to yourselves, well done!!!!!!!

To those of you who are pretending to skip exercise this week, I will not only be haunting your dreams, but your own body is going to rebel and make you very sorry - and then I'm all going to laugh at you :p!

Keep up the great work, gang, and keep those laughs coming! You are all such fun to be around and I truly appreciate each and every one of you !

We all knew you were hovering somewhere watching over us Shadow :).

Rode to work this morning, almost gave it a miss as it was still dark out when I left. Sun came up about 20 minutes into the ride. I was a bit physically tired from yesterday I think, struggled a little with the 5 mile hill that constitutes the second half of my ride (to work, 20 mile round trip). Someone at work said the elevation change is about 1000', but it sure seems steeper to me :jawDrop:.

Stopped at Mom's for a visit on the way home and washed her floors, vaccumed etc for her. She's 76 and has had both hips replaced so has a tough time with floor cleaning. She has a cleaning lady come in every 2 weeks but her house is up for sale and needs to be kept really clean for showings. Kinda like mine .

I am going to get some exercise in today. Mowing the lawn and trimming. I haven't found my way back to structured exercise yet. But, today is my first day trying to ease back into a PP way of eating. One baby step - at a time. I'll keep it up as long as I can.:)

Just in fun... I would have loved to be serious in the rebellion and to go on strike (like French people do just about anything;)) to show Shadow my affection (of course). Instead, I had to take a day off, poor me. Felt like a kind of strike-breaker :slywink::D!!
OK, it was just one day under the weather (I felt dizzy most part of Monday) but felt OK on Tuesday and did upper body programme. Today I did 30 min of lower body (and really felt my thighs and bun!).

Hi gang! I posted on the Movers & Shakers board a couple of weeks ago stating I was finally joining a gym. Well my first class is tonight. Unfortunetly all the classes were booked before tonight and before you can start free reign of the gym you have to meet with a trainer and learn about all of the equipment. Tonight I will learn the cardio equipment and also the trainer will set out a workout program for you according to your desired results. Cannot wait!! Tomorrow night I will be taking the class to learn about upper body equipment, and then the lower body session is next week. I am excited to start feeling some strength in my muscles again!:D

Hi, finally got to the computer !! It has been comandeered by family members yesterday and today so I haven't been getting much time in here. They had tests to take.

Anyway I have been getting my exercise by walking, moving firewood to take to the trailride tomorrow, plus many trips out to the camper to load clothing and bedding and etc for same. Also have been riding almost every day for the last 4 days.

Anyway certainly not being a couch "potato-ette" but didn't get around to any slow burn or anything like that.

I'll check with you all after we get back ! Have fun...I will.:D:D

Lower body tonight and easy on the knees. They're whining about all the standing around I did yesterday. Funny, I can walk, but not stand long. Carpet's better than tile or cement, but yesterday it was tile.

Did get a short ride in yesterday, with quite a few hills, so better than nothing. I had some wine to bottle in the middle of the day so couldn't get a longer ride in. Right now with the charity ride 6 days away I'm not so concerned with distance riding, just trying to keep my butt used to being in the saddle everyday. Until Tues., after that I will not ride so I'm well rested next weekend. Today my plan is to get some much needed house cleaning done and go climb part of a mountain. Apparently there is a really big hill at the end of the first days riding on the trek (I don't if I have actually mentioned what the charity the ride is for; its the "British Columbia Lung Associations annual Trek for Life and Breath" they raise funds for research on all types of lung disease and generally help out people suffering from them etc) so I need to practice a bit more hill climbing. We have a ski hill nearby with a paved road leading up to it, from the chain up area to the top is 11 miles almost straight up. Well obviously it serpentines quite a bit but the point is its a big climb. :jawDrop: I don't plan to ride all the way up, that would take close to 5 hours, but I would like to do at least 1.5 hours. That's if the rain lets up some, its pouring right now. Did I say pouring? Let's upgrade that to hammering down sideways. :peeved: Maybe I'll just do some reading....

If the rain doesn't let up I'll drive to the gym and do something there.

Oh, man, I do feel your pain. Well, if you went out while it was raining sideways, you'd get some rain training, always a good thing to know when you are 15 mi from anywhere and you're in it;)

This will probably date this particular event for me....but I was caught in exactly that situation and the 'teal" of my teal blue bike shoes dyed my feet teal, through my socks, and the color was on my feet more than a week. I don't think you can buy teal blue bkie shoes anymore, can you?!

We are hoping to get ride in this afternoon, but similarly, it's suppose to storm, and while that would cool it off a bit, (it's 92) the lightning is never fun and starting the ride in the rain, never feels....as bright as I think I am....I don't know.

Martha living on the 'wet' coast of BC means never really needing rain training, its a constant.

My shoes are almost teal.... well they're actually more a robin's egg blue I guess. I don't have any waterproof shoe booties so I don't want to soak the new shoes and ruin them. Really need to get a better set of wet riding clothes, now that fall is almost here.

I think the best activities for lightning weather are spectating from inside a warm, safe place with either a cup of tea, daytime, or a glass wine, evening.

Hope we can both get out for a bit today.

just my luck, I knew I should have saved them:lol:

I just bought new black ones, but they haven't arrived yet. It's thundering as we speak (kinda) so hopefully it will stop that nonsense so we can go, as planned. Good luck, and I should have known you had already done your rain training. When I was a little girl they gave away the evening newspaper if the sun didn't shine during the day...They only gave some incredibly small number of newspapers away, so we usually get sun, at some point. And who knows, maybe that was the cause of the demise of the evening paper.

I think there are few things in life more physically yucky than riding in a downpour and you're, of course, fifteen miles from home base. Oh, and you're wearing glasses. :p I haven't ridden in the last few years, but I keep my bike poncho in my car. It comes in handy for camping.

I didn't get to the gym today. Just too busy, plus had company and grandson. Tomorrow, I'll be walking the flea market, boosting my tan. Last nice weekend of summer, they say. :)
