Hi Everyone,
My name is Amy, I am a 35 year old mom of 4. I am just starting Protein Power. I am very new to this. I have read Protein Power and Protein Power Lifeplan. I am hoping to find a home here on this Forum to learn everything I need to lead this life style to the fullest. To make some friends who are going down the same path as I.
I know one of the keys to me being successful at this will be menu planning, does anyone have any advice on a good weekly menu? Is there a spot on the forum that has some ideas? Anyone have any advice for a nervous newbie?
Thanks in advance.
Amy :D

Can't help you on the meal plans, as I tend to eat the same things all the time, but I did want to welcome you to the forums! There's a great group of people here with pretty varied tastes, so you should get some good suggestions.
My meals are usually one meat entree (chicken or beef, usually) with veggies. Not too exciting. The only thing we've come up with that is slightly creative is stir fried chicken tacos using low carb tortillas.
There's a TV show called "Blaine's Low Carb Cooking" (see this link (http://fittv.discovery.com/fansites/blaine/bio.html)) and he does some pretty creative things with low carb food.

That will give you important background information and I think both books have menus.
We often post our menus on the daily Challenge thread. That's where we discuss what we're doing and what we're eating. You're welcome to join us any time!
You can also read the archives and find a wealth of information. There's a search engine to find specific subjects. Just poke around and become familiar with the place. You'll find it very helpful for following a low carb lifestyle.

Hello,
I'm a newbie too, from the UK, and I can tell you that the people on this forum are extremely nice and helpful. I'm afraid I can't help with meal planning as I only managed to get my hands on a copy of Protein Power yesterday, and have only got to the bit about measuring myself and calculating stuff. I don't know if you would find anything in the kitchen section, near the bottom - I haven't read much of that yet.

Hello - I'm new to this forum - I just read the 6 week cure book and started that plan 3 days ago. Is anyone else doing it? The website for the plan is not working right so thought i would hang out here. I have been struggling with 20#s forever -- always on a diet and never losing. I did start weight lifting about 2 months ago and can tell a huge lose in inches. I am 53 and have been ona and off low carb forever -- hopping this is it. I sure feel a bunch better when eating this way.

Patriciaitz have you considered that if you've had a "huge loss in inches" that you've replaced a lot of fat with muscle, and perhaps do not really need to lose that extra 20# after all? Sometimes we get a number in our heads as being ideal, but forget to take body composition into account.
BTW, welcome to the forum.

That's okay Carol. :)
So here is what I have eaten today:
Protein Shake made with 8 oz Almond Breeze Unsweetened (28g protein)
1/2 cup cantalope with 4 grapes in it.
8 oz turkey breast
3 T cream cheese
I am going to have some steak in a bit, and hopefully some salad too.
How does that look?

How does that look?Very good! Add the steak and the salad and call it a good day. Are you doing the math with carbs, fat and protein?

Carol,
on a "normal" day I would be doing the math, but today I subbed in the 4th grade and did my best to eat close to what I thought would be on the right track.
For dinner I ended up having the surf and turf. Yum-O! My brother in law brought us up some freshly dug steamers from Rhode Island, so they ended up on the dinner plate, so I cut down the amount of steak I ate. I did't end up with the salad though, because I forgot about it while cooking the steak and steamers!
Tomorrow's meals will look a lot like todays, because tomorrow I am 3rd grade sub... eek! Hopefully something with chicken for dinner. I'm going to browse the recipe section right now! See ya later.

LOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGG Day.
Man those 3rd graders can wear a girl out!
Today I had:
1/2 a protein shake
1/2 cup of cantalope
salad with ranch
8 oz ham
1/2 cup cottage cheese
9 pork rinds
1 cup (give or take) cauliflower with cheese
6 oz steak
and some tomato salad made with parsley and feta cheese
handful of mac nuts
but I blew it when I was tempted with a no bake cookie this evening. :(
I am not going to dwell on the cookie, I am just going to move forward tomorrow and get past it!
I'm pooped, and off to bed!
