I enjoyed reading the Dr. Eade's thoughts on coffee and the related article links. I love coffee but also drink about 5+ cups of tea per day. My tea consumption is generally oolong tea and sencha green -- sometimes black tea. I am worried that the high fluoride content in the tea could be impacting my thyroid function. In other words, should I ditch tea in favor of just drinking coffee? I really like the idea of getting a variety of flavanoids ie from coffee, cocoa, tea, veggies, etc -- but do not want to get too much of a good thing. I've read some studies concerning the development of goitre in RATS who were given green tea EXTRACT ie egcg, not tea to drink. And some studies showing goitre in areas where brick tea is prepared with water already contaminated with excessive fluoride. Thoughts? I wrote to the Eades on the contact page - maybe they'll address the issue of the purported dangers of "excessive" flavanoids and fluoride in terms of thyroid health.
