Okay, everyone, we had just had a really quiet week so I'm hoping to be hearing from all of you this week - and a lot more often ! Don't even think about stagnating and starting to "winter" - it's much too soon ! Even if the winter that's not acceptable, anyway :p!

I think I'll do more endurance this week - just on a different schedule. But no worries, I'll get my 5 days in ;).

What are YOUR goals for the week?

Even if you're really swamped right now or too busy to come often, please post when you can. That way I know you haven't forsaken our group and I won't have to come hunt you down :p!

Thanks for the advice (intervals/hydration) yesterday was a good ride, no problem with any of the over pass climbs and I didn't let speed drop as much as I have in the past, maybe a mindset thing?. :o I had 2 flat tires, (one looked like a new hole, the other like a patch failed from a previous episode (that i'm pretty sure I already whined about.) One, yes I guess there were 3 total, I haven't done the analysis yet, it was close to home so we loaded them and stopped at a bike store to buy new tubes. My patch kit is from a different era of biking so I don't know if they lose their ability to seal. I noted that the instructions (in 7 languages,) may not have been written by a native speaker for mine as words like "off" was "of" and "heat" was "eat." It made entertaining reading but not so much when the patch failed. It really was a fun ride, and it really did only make it to 89, so it was pretty comfortable riding weather.

Another week of holidays over here. But not all of them are 'no no' for M&S, so I hope to continue on my pilates/callanetics/the bar method workout. I did pretty well last week, I listened to you Shadow and increased my working time to 30 minutes... once or twice:p. Anyway, today was a nice workout of 30 minutes: 10 min upper body + 10 min lower body + 10 min stretch. I hope to be more present here through this week. Don't want you to feel too lonely, dear Shadow!:)

Sorry about the tires, Martha, but what an awesome report on the hydration and intervals !!!! Those instructions are a bit amusing - when they're not downright frustrating ;)!

I actually managed to do a bit of moving today. About 5000lbs of broken up concrete. That should count as some sort of workout right? :) Swelling is going down a bit so I should be back in the game soon.

Well, Mother Nature determined my schedule for the week  so it is:

Sunday - Upper body, long walk
Monday - Step cardio, core, shoveling snow
Tues - Lower body
Thurs - Indoor cardio of some type, core
Fri - Upper body

I've changed my workout days in addition to sticking to endurance so I still have some changes going on this week :D! (Just didn't want you all to think I ask anything of you I don't do myself :p!)

Our weatherguy said the weather pattern is a lot like the one in 77/78 where I was snowed in for three days. In town.

Well, I made it to the gym after work today. I did both upper and lower body because I have an appointment tomorrow and I thought Wednesday would be too close to Thursday and Friday. I did two sets of twelve for each one and ten minutes on the arc trainer.

Have a great night!

Well at least there are some advantages ! I'm expected to be on time because I live close to work. But it does make me cranky when I have as much snow to clean up at home as everyone else - and probably more with the handicapped issue to consider . Luckily, we don't normally - knock wood - get much snow ;).

Hello everybody, just a short report on my doings: Monday was pilates upper body and Tuesday 20 min of Callanetics for abs and 10 min of bike in the evening. Today I've just finished 15 min lower body, hope to do something more (maybe using the bar method dvd) after coming back from my classes. Have to run, see you later:D!

I must admit I get 'snow days'. Not a lot of concrete gets poured in the snow. ;) We don't get much snow either, except up on our ski hill.

I'm riding my bike to work today, hopefully I am dressed warm enough for the ride there, back won't be an issue as the sun will actually be up by then. I'm finally going to use the new lights!

Gosh, the PP forums are so busy, by the time I read all the new posts I think "Oh my gosh! I need to get something done." and then forget to post myself. So today I'm changing things a bit, and posting right away.

Also, my internet connection is CRAWLING this morning.

Anyway:
Sunday - Upper body resistance.
Monday - Tae Bo and legs
Tuesday - only partial upper body: abs, biceps, triceps - I'll do the rest tomorrow
Today - will be Tae Bo and legs

Hi y'all! My workout plans have changed. We had a blood drive this morning and the tech said NO LIFTING. I'm either going to skip it, because it was supposed to be upper body or do some arc trainer. I think she followed it up with NO EXERTION, but I don't remember. I feel fine.

I have some Wacky Wednesday items that pertain to exercise:

Doctor to Patient:
What fits your busy schedule better, exercising one hour a day or being dead 24 hours a day?

Doctor to patient:
The handle on your recliner does not qualify as an exercise machine.

Wife to husband, sitting up in bed:
I was going to wake up early to go jogging, but my toes voted against me 10 to 1.

Husband to wife:
My doctor told me to start my exercise program very gradually. Today I drove past a store that sells sweat pants.

I am jealous. I have one array of LEDs on the back, but nothing for the front yet. Sunday when we were riding a lady came outside and scolded us. She said that we needed more lights, ugh...but she's probably right.

Planning to ride tomorrow night, can't believe how dark it is starting to get at 7pm.

I had flashy lights pulsating all over the place this morning! I almost had to ride home in the dark but my boss took pity on me and gave the last load to someone else. I made it home by 6:30 so it was getting towards dusk but still pretty good. The legs felt a little out of shape, like I've been sitting on my arse for a month or something. Oh wait, its only been 3 weeks. :p

Three days ago I visited a friend with somewhat not-feeling-that-well toddler and - as usual - I caught his bug (and I was only in the same room, I am not a person to spend time with children if I can only help it). I had the right to one day and a half of constantly feeling sick an vomiting, but the worst was that headache. Yesterday I stayed home (& believe me I was much too weak to even think about M&S) but today is much, much better. But still I've decided to stay at home (I have only one class on Fridays), and I am not sure if I try to do some gym.
Forgive me all that long description, but when I think it over, I have the impression that I have an awkward tendency to catch all viruses, bugs etc. available in my region. I cannot say it is more often than before starting Protein Power and M&S, but it's not less often neither. But perhaps it's completely normal. Maybe I'm just getting older (my DH is a gentleman enough to think that being in one's mid-thirties is not really old, but he has manner:ps...)
Will let you know how things are (speaking M&S, of course) on Saturday evening or Sunday morning. Have a great weekend, all of you!

I am glad you're getting better, Adina! However, I think you better NOT do the M&S for a couple days or else you'll just end up right back at being sick again. Sometimes our bodies really do need a break ;).

This week has been going better than the last few. Rode to work Wed. and yesterday made it to the gym for an upper body workout and some stretching.

I often use an assisted pull-up machine for working my lats and for the first time ever I used under 100lbs for the 'assisted' weight! This is mostly due to me being lighter of course, not necessarily strength improvement, but I'll take it! :D

No lifting today but I will do some more stretching later. :) Our weather is supposed to stay dry and sunny for a few more days so I will get out on the bike again sometime in the next couple of days.

I've been thinking of trying something along the lines of "Slow Burn" to mix it up for awhile, anybody here find it a good routine for them?

I was hiding because I like it when you come looking for me .

Yesterday I had a yoga lesson, then went out for a walk with my teacher. He's more than a foot taller than me, and lives in a particularly hilly spot, so I think that counts for a dose of cardio . He tweaked my yoga practice a bit, so I'm back to that today.

Hadn't really planned much M&S for yesterday but ended up doing a hike by chance. Not a long hike but up a very steep hill. DH and I were checking out a piece of property his Dad is buying (50 acres out in the bush 45 min. from town) so climbed to the top of the logging road that goes through it. WOW, what an amazing view! Too bad I didn't have my camera, I would have taken a couple of shots and put them up here, as I won't be able to do it justice with a written description. Let's just say there were mountains, ocean, a lake and a vast amount of trees. (And one heck of a steep logging road to get there)

Don't know what today will bring, I have to get dinner organized for the in-laws. A combo of Thanksgiving and birthday (MIL). I may have time for a bike ride though. :)

Hi, I'm back from a lot of stair climbing! I also managed a 2.25 mile walk along a trail made on a former railway line. I haven't walked so far in one go for years, and thinking about it probably not since I became disabled and had to wear my splint. My legs ached for a couple of days afterwards, but the real killer was a blister where the splint rubbed. I don't care, because I did the whole walk, and nobody thought I could.

So how was the trip? Weather? Food? Did the boys (I include your DH in that category) behave?

And I thought Shadow was the slave driver around here

Walking with someone is a lot less scary than walking alone, and looking down onto the sailing venue for the 2012 Olympics in hot sunshine is different to plodding round the same park every day. I will start my daily half hour walk now though, because I do feel better for it, and I will sort out some resisitance work as well.

The details of our trip will be in my journal for anyone who cares to drop in for a cuppa.
