So, I am in week 4 and I have gained a pound and my body fat is up 1%. I eat 40+ g of Protein every meal, usually over 120 in a day and my daily carb intake is usually bewteen 25-35 a day. I lift weights (Well bend rubber) 3 days a week and walk 3 other days.

My total Caloric intake is between 1500- 1700 a day and yet I am not losing weight. I'm not hungry as I am stuffed when I do eat, which is 3 meals plus small snacks in between.

Any ideas?

I would probably reduce carbs way down and stop the weight lifting. If you have a significant amount to lose, you are already working out when you walk, sit, bend, etc.

Years ago when overweight people were advised to lose weight, they cut all starches and sugars (carbs) and sat on their butts.

You are asking your body to do too much at once. You want to lose weight, and build muscle. If you look at children who are normal weight they have great muscle definition and yet they don't work out. They just move naturally.

Hm, hate to be the odd one out but I thought it looked like not enough fat for that activity level, plus too frequent of meals (keeps insulin up too long, no time to go down between eating)

That makes sense to me, LW.

Maelgwn, if you want to post some of your typical meal plans for members to critique you can. Are you on Protein Power or the 6WC? We don't usually count calories.

Thank you for the response. I only know calories because I use a food log program that tells me what the calories are. According to it I have averaged Fat: 96.25g, Carbs: 29.86g and Protein 140.6g over the last 7 days and it does not change much the weeks prior.

I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with 2-3 snacks in between. Snacks are like a link of bratwurst or protein shake, maybe a piece of cheddar. I am currently 243 but I did lose 60lbs about a year ago by just cutting calories and that weight loss was pretty quick and noticable.

I don't understand how me increasing my activity level would hurt my weight loss. Can someone explain that?

I don't understand how me increasing my activity level would hurt my weight loss. Can someone explain that?I can only tell you my experience, Maelgwn. I joined a gym almost two years ago and I not only lost weight, I changed my shape and dropped a couple of sizes. When I exercise, I am strong and have more energy and feel better about myself. Low carb all the way, too.

If you want to get encouragement and feedback on exercise, hop over to the weekly Movers & Shakers thread and tell Shadow I sent you. :)

You should look at your inches too. If you are taking in more protein, excercising, and gaining, you are probably building muscle. Muscle takes less space, and you wouldn't realize that you are losing fat.

I do see that your body fat is up 1%. What method are you using to measure it? A scale or your own body measurements and calculations?
