Life is like a bicycle. Whoever stops pedaling will fall over.
Sebastian Ferroz de Cargo Penteado

Whatever you do, keep pedaling! :)

I'm going to have a shake for breakfast, plus two cups of coffee. Lunch will be with friends at a nice restaurant where I know I can get friendly food. Dinner will either be at another restaurant or at home. Either way, I'm covered.

Music jam tomorrow and a photo shoot on Sunday, if it's nice.

What's going on with you this weekend?

You're getting an early start on the weekend, Carol! I don't know what I'll be eating today. I'm just about to head off to the farmers' market to see what tempts me.

No going to the farmers market for me today, its still pouring raining . :( (better than snow though) Today will be mostly puttering around, trip to the gym and hoping not to be ravenously hungy again on the 3-1 regimen. Working tomorrow, an unusual occurrence on a Sun. for me.

B,L,S = shakes
D: probably pork tenderloin and tomato/avocado salad

Have a great weekend everyone!

Saturday 10/17/09

Well I got my seasonal flu shot today. And can you believe: the VA conducted a "drive through flu shot clinic!" It ran quite smoothly. No line, pulled up to a check-in station and onto the nursing station for the injection. Total time maybe 7 minutes

Breakfast- 2 eggs, 4 whites, 3 Esskay turkey bacon, 105gms strawberries, 2c green tea.
43gms protein, 10gms carbs.

Lunch- 4oz grilled sirloin pork chop; broccoli salad(broccoli florets, onion, bacon, pecans, dressed w/mayo, vinegar, Splenda and celery seed), 2c green tea.
49gms protein, 8gms carbs.

Supper- Chili Rellenos(ground beef, onion, pepper, chipotle in adobo, water, steak dust, chili powder, garlic, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, 2c green tea. 40gms protein, 11gms carbs.

For lunch I was still hungry afterwards and was drifting towards snacking so I ate a 2nd brat.

Dinner ended up being an unwich. It tasted awesome and was surprisingly unmessy. That said, I also remember why I don't hit sub places that often. It needed more meat!

I'd count dinner as my "light" meal of the day so it all worked out in the end.

Spruce,
I often get the Turkey LuLu unwich with double turkey. It is very satisfying and does give me enough protein. I tried with the single amount and agree, not enough protein.

Carol and others...I have stopped pedaling. But this morning I picked up my bike again. I may be rusty, but feel like I have no other choice. I must ride again.

I am making my lc goulash for lunches, made a roast with rutabega, carrots, and onions for suppers, and will cook brats and eggs for breakfasts. Thank goodness I don't mind repetitive meals because that is what saves me during the week.
And today, I had a spam quesadilla for brunch, and tonight we're heading to a friends for turkey dinner. I am bringing mashed cauliflower, so if I can stick to that, turkey, and the veggie (usually roasted asparagus or something lc like that) I should be just fine for today.

So, here goes...I'm going to try pedaling...

I've got a spaghetti squash tuna casserole baking (spaghetti squash, fresh tomatoes & herbs from the garden, red onion, mushroom-cream sauce, and tuna topped with shredded cheddar) while I can homemade mustard, test a low-sugar pear jam recipe and write blog posts. I did what is probably the last herb harvest from my garden this a.m., so between the baking casserole, the mustard, ripened pears on the counter and bouquets of sage and thyme all over my house, I feel like an old-time farm kitchen today. ;)

Good for you, Bill. I hope your team wins! ;)

I feel like an old-time farm kitchen today. ;)You all are making me feel guilty that I haven't been cooking today yet. But the sun is finally shining!

The band review was so long yesterday and I feel like I walked the equivalent of the Rose Parade.....I'm exhausted today! (Wish I had pedaled...):slywink:

Yesterday, I had a protein shake for breakfast, a chicken cesar salad at 5 and another protein shake before bed. Not the best spacing, but couldn't be helped.

Today, I had a protein shake for breakfast and lunch and pot roast for dinner.

Yup, I'm pedaling,

Kathee

My wife got the gargantuan at Jimmy John's and though it was plenty packed with meat. Next time I'll have to try that or go double meat. Not something I want to do that often but it's good to know the option exists.

Sunday
B: Sausage/eggs w/ cheese
L: Anniversary celebration - bad.
D: Skip

Lunch was a bit of a planned cheat. I ate normally except dessert. The normal part was a hot dog and a couple hamburgers and a salad. Invited the family over to make sure there wasn't any dessert left. Dessert was a dessert pizza (sugar cookie crust, tapioca pudding "sauce", fruit on top).

My wife used to make these and it tasted as good as I remember. Tomorrow I'm back on the straight and narrow however.

So far I've done pretty well on vacation. Breakfast has been the easiest; we were on the road this weekend, so eggs and bacon and sausage always works. The hotel buffet this morning had just scrambled eggs among the "legal" offerings, and lunch was at Brown's Berry Patch near Rochester, NY ... two hot dogs without the bun. Jan and I stopped at an Outback and had a nice steak on the way home, letting the kids and grandkids go home earlier than us.

I'm a little anxious because I'm not weighing myself all week; I don't trust other scales. And I may not be getting enough water (we picked up some bottled water on our way in so I can gauge my input).

I was actually horrified at the breakfast choices at IHOP; OK they are a "pancake house", but good grief ... they have cinnamon roll french toast (take a cinnamon roll, slice it like bread, dip it and then fry it). The whipped cream was sweet beyond belief (I forgot that they sweeten it, and snagged a tiny bit off Jan's waffle, and recoiled in horror ... it tasted way too sweet). She didn't eat the strawberries, but warned me off ... they were candied strawberries, running in syrup. The kid's meals ... a "happy face pancake" ... was a 12" pancake with candied strawberry eyes, sweetened whipped cream nose and banana pieces forming the mouth. I was trying to be good, but I think my daughter caught my expression when it was served. She said "Dad, let's play Jeopardy ... this is the visual Daily Double, what's the question?" I demurred, and she said "The question is, 'Why is America fat, Alex'".

My grandkids are thin (one is just now getting on the weight charts), so I'm not too worried about them. But looking around the restaurant, I kept thinking we're all going to die!

Ha! That's a good line....:p

Nothing like going to a family restaurant to witness first hand the horror of the typical (North) American diet. :peeved:

I did end up having a small protein snack between shakes at work today.... A guy I work with catches and smokes his own salmon, its to die for, and he brought some in to work today. The availability of the worlds best smoked salmon combined with my level of hunger.... I was doomed.

Dinner was roasted chicken and asparagus. yum
