Never give up on what you really want to do. The person with big dreams is more powerful than one with all the facts.

Life's Little Instruction Calendar

You don't have to know everything about this woe to make it work. We learn as we go. You just need to get going. :)

Breakfast is a protein shake. Lunch will be sausage. Dinner is TBD, plus I have to pick up a snack for the party tonight. Last time I brought a fruit medley and that was popular.

What are your plans for today? For the weekend?

Friday 10/23/09 You're right. I came to that conclusion as soon as I sat down at my desk at work! :o

I find myself going back to the book frequently to for answers to questions I don't know. I do that all the time, plus I have my favorite blogs. I crosscheck everything!

Have a good one! :)

I must say that my book is out almost all the time. In fact, my daughter asked me a question about this woe just this morning and I reached for the book just to make sure I got it right.

Yes, Carol, stupid busy is an off-shoot of crazy busy. It's when you're so busy and people are calling you all the time (like when you're in the bathroom, shower and car - to name but a few...) and you start losing brain cells to the point where you can't remember your name - that's stupid busy. Today is shaping up to be another one...!:peeved:

Breakfast was an omelet with cheese and honest-to-goodness I just don't know what lunch and dinner will be. I find that on stupid busy days, better to go with the quick and easy - so it will probably be protein shakes.

Good luck, Kathee. Do you get any relief on the weekends?

At this time of year with all the band reviews - the weekends are worse. Frankly, by the time the band reviews are over, we'll run smack into Thanksgiving. Then there's all the Christmas stuff...so, I'll finally get to breathe after New Year's - for about a month. Then there's winter competions, jazz competitions, and band fund raisers. The only thing keeping me from shaving my head and putting on orange robes is the knowledge that my son (the last child) is, at last, a senior and most of this insanity will end when he graduates.

I have been a high school band mom for 10 years. (Not counting all the jr. high years...) Quite honestly, it's probably a big reason that I find myself in this condition. In trying to get everything done, it was simply easier to ignore what I needed. I don't regret the time I spent being a band mom for a second. It kept me involved in their lives and they all grew up to be healthy, happy and drug free. I just wish I had learned to handle the stress better. But the good news is, I am learning how to take care of myself now. What a gift!

Kathlee, I feel for you. My wife and I went through some of the same things. We had two in the local high school band. And it definitely keeps you hopping.

You have my respect, Kathee! ;) My sister worked in a music store for years. She was friends with all the area band directors, and a band camp counselor, so she was invited to all the events, even HS graduations. The band parents were essential to every aspect.

Ate as planned. We used the small shrimp for dinner so it took a lot to feel like I was eating something but the side did a great job filling me up.

Bill, so you're a fellow band parent. Odd how it's so amazingly exciting and exhausting all at the same time. Congrats to you and your wife for all the hard work.

So true, Carol. It just couldn't happen without the parents. Having had years where the help was sparse, it warms my heart when new parents step up to the challenge.
