Okay gang, let's end the month with some life in us, okay :p? For those of you who are recuperating, rest is definitely essential. But there's a big difference between rest and immobility ;)....

I will be busy this weekend but I will pop in when I can to see if any of you are up to anything good .

Everyone rest up and get re-charged because I fully expect to see some team spirit come November !

I'm over the flu so will be getting back at it tomorrow. I'm planning to stop at the gym on the way home from work. Too wet for riding but I'll throw some weight around at least. :)

It is good to see you posting again, Jilly.

Right, I have no medical appointments or anything else that should stop me, so I am going to try and walk each weekday morning this week, and I have started on the right track this morning. It has the added bonus that I am having a protein shake for breakfast, the meal that I really struggle to get down.

Last week was a bit of a washout on the exercise front, so I'd better do better this week to avoid any retribution from Shadow :paranoid:. That means five days of doing my prescribed yoga practice.

My plans for the week -
Sunday - Shoulders, calves, abs, step cardio
Monday - Legs, kickboxing
Tuesday - Biceps, triceps, cardio drills
Thursday - Chest, back, step cardio
Friday - Wild card :D

(PS - Carol - are you impressed with the order this week :p? I think this is only the second time in all the years we've known each other that I actually did cardio last  )

I did upper body last night and fifteen minutes on the arc trainer. It was more effort, but I think it was the weather change. I noticed that several of the machines work the triceps, so I dropped one of them that did only that (arm curl).

I didn't walk first thing, but I have been into town on the tram (roll on, roll off for wheelchairs and baby buggys- why, oh, why doesn't it go to the hospital??) with my shopping trolley and had a good wander around for about an hour and a half, before returning by tram, and the tram stop is a good ten minutes walk each way for me. It is like summer here - T shirt weather again - so I am a trifle hot but not quite as bothered as I got at my heaviest.

Thanks :D! Can't say what brought it - must be cabin fever already getting to me  :p! It's not too bad, actually, but I don't think I'll make a habit of it .

Way to go getting that workout in and taking time to evaluate what you were doing instead of going by rote !!! You know, I just don't have the oomph these days, either. Hopefully it is just the oncoming of winter !

There will be a few happy kids (and relieved Mums!) about as it is half term holiday from school this week. It is supposed to last all this week, getting to 18C (64F) in London tomorrow, can't have been far off today. Heck, I might get a deck chair out and sit in the garden (after my walk ;) ).

I had no idea about the weather until my husband told me at lunchtime. My body seems to be operating in an entirely different thermal fantasy world. We're thinking of going out to look at some trees and eat lunch later in the week if the good weather lasts.

I've managed to exercise on plan so far this week, though not with any great enthusiasm, I'm afraid. Maybe that will come soon.

Maybe that will come soon."Bring the body and the mind will follow!" ;) Enthusiasm isn't mandatory for exercise. I certainly don't have it, but it's a routine and I'm a dull creature. :) The music on my mp3 player is what drives me. Sometimes it even drives me to overdo and get sore muscles.

Lower body tonight. I threw in ten minutes on the stationary bike while I waited for an arc trainer to open up. Fifteen minutes on the arc trainer.

Well I really suck this week.... But I guess I can still pull something together, its only Tuesday. I did a fair bit of yardwork yesterday cleaning out a bunch of stuff for winter (8 wheelbarrows of nasturtiams, petunias, cosmos and other things who's names elude me), but it wasn't really much of a workout.

Tomorrow?

The weather forecasters got it wrong, by the way. It was sunny and hot yesterday, but today is cloudy, and whilst mild, I don't think it was as hot as yesterday. Soon cools down when the sunsets too, which is now.

Today's my rest day and I'm taking a jaunt to the chiropractor. I have DOMS on the back of my arms from Monday's delt/fly! I didn't think it was that hard, so maybe it was from the arc trainer that I upped the resistance on. Who knows! See you tomorrow!

Enjoy your appointment :D! FWIW, I often find that I get more sore with slightly lighter weights than with heavier ones. When I go too heavy, I use too many other muscles to assist, but when I lighten the load just a touch, I can keep the focus on the muscle I'm actually trying to work. But I'm weird :p !

I haven't posted this week yet (struggling with two essays), but I did my job (almost). Yesterday I had a terrible headache so it was my day off. But today I was just fine and did my new cardio workout (and enjoyed it a lot!).
Sun - 30 min Sweat & Sculpt to Success (Joanna Hall dvd)
Mon - 25 min TaeBo Workout (Get Moving + Cardio)
Tue - off
Wed - 5 min WU + 25 min Low Impact Aerobic Training (Ada Janklowicz dvd) + 5 min stretch
Will see you all tomorrow.

I'm glad it's gone too :D! My headaches are quite regular (probably - among others like psychological stress - there is a hormonal factor involved) and are pretty intensive, looks like a kind of half a day migraine. Nothing nice, really.

I really enjoyed Ada Janklowicz's Basic Training The Workout DVD, so today I did another part of it.
Thursday - WU (7 min) + Strength Training: upper & lower body, & abs (22 min) + Total Body Stretch (7 min).
Tomorrow another day of cardio, but I'll have to decide which programme I'll do. See you then and have a nice day!

I was on a roll until yesterday, thought this would actually be the first week for years that I either went out somewhere specific, or at least did a walk, on the 5 weekdays. Don't know how, but I got engrossed in doing stuff yesterday before I even got dressed, and I never even gave going out a thought until it was already getting dark. Much the same thing today.

I am definitely going to have to change my ways. Consider me well and truly told off :o:o:o

Hi Shadow its been a long time since I've heard the crack of your whip.
I'm restarting an exercise program on Monday and thought I'd join back up with the M&S gang for accountability.
I'm afraid it won't be an elaborate program like many of you do. Being wheelchair bound puts some limitations on what I can do. I have a Magnecizer pedaling machine and some 5 and 10 pound dumbells I can use. I'm sure I can come up with something.
Looking forward to be a part of the group again.

Well better late than never right? I finally dragged myself to the gym and did an upper body w/o and some stretching. I'm difinitely a little weaker than a few weeks ago, had to drop the weight a bit. :( I'm hoping its due to being sick and that I will see some improvement quickly. Of course that will require working out on a regular basis. Plan to do lower body tomorrow, start the week off right.

Hi gang, I'm going to join your group. I need some accountability and the sound of Shadow's whip cracking in the backround. Some of you may rmember me from M&S at the old site. I was pappy back then.

I had been exercising using my pedaling machine since June of this year. But I was experiencing a lot of pain. So Doc told me to back off a little. I was hitting it 7 days a week. Now I'm going for Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

This afternoon I'll start my exercise routine. I'll start out with 30 minutes leg work on the pedaling machine. A 15 minute warmup on the pedaler for the upper body. Then 1 set 15 reps of bicep curls, tricep extensions, front deltoid raises, side deltoid raises, wrist curls, bench press and butterfly raises. I'm starting out with five pounds and work my way up. Followed by a ten minute upper body cool down on the pedaler. Then this evening linament and ice packs.
