A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.
Bruce Lee
I agree we need something to aim at, but why aim at something you don't intend to reach? I think that means the goal is set too high. What do you think?
Breakfast is a protein shake. Lunch will be roast beef and carrots. Dinner will be beef stew or beef vegetable soup. Snack might be raspberries and cream.
We're near the end of our October Challenge this week. Does anyone have thoughts about a November Challenge?
I have found the PERFECT wacky for today!!

Depends on the goal really. Most goals should be achieveable, however there are some that aren't. What if you set a goal to not make mistakes? You're bound to screw up at some point but that doesn't mean you can't make less mistakes and improve. In this situation the "goal" is not to make mistakes but there is an implied goal that is achieveable (ie, "make fewer mistakes").
B: Sausage/eggs w/ cheese
L: 2 brats w/ mayo/BBQ sauce
D: Atkins shake, carbmaster yogurt, string cheese
Going out with some friends tonight so I brought both my lunch and dinner with me. I figure I'll eat dinner early before I'm off work so I don't have to figure out dinner at the pool hall. Might skip the cheese for dinner if I'm still full from everything else.

Perhaps if you are not sure exactly where you want to get to at least having "something to aim at" is moving in the right direction and you can fine tune as you go. Goals can and do change, not always a bad thing. Perhaps he means it is also good to have some flexibility and not be so focussed on a specific goal you miss something along the way? I'm rambling...
Last nights bacon binge hasn't shown on the scale, yet. Why do I do these things the night before I weigh in? To be honest though I can't really see a lot of correlation between what I do and don't eat on any given day and what the scale says, there's just so much fluctuation. Guess I should stick to how clothes fit etc, but I am still a scale addict.
B: eggs & smokie, tea
L: ??? (I'm not at work today so not planned)
D: chicken and salad

Amy thanks for making Wednesday wacky!

I agree with you, Jilly. It's the long haul that tells the tale.
I'm having my roast beef and carrots for lunch today, but I also had about 1/3 cup of quiche (crustless) that our bakery turned out today. One of the few items they make that I will sample. Probably the only item!

my short term goal is to stay on PP all day today...
this is how badly I have been doing. lost 35 lbs, then was laid up all summer with a bad knee injury and was waited on and fed by friends, gained 20 back, have been trying for a week to get back on PP but always failed half way through the day. but not today. today i am not going off plan.
breakfast was one egg, one slice bacon, 3 mushrooms
lunch was grilled chicken breast chopped up with one mushroom and wrapped in half a small tortilla
and it was deeeelicious!
dinner will be salmon pan fried with small beet sliced and lc yogurt for dessert.

Have you recalculated your minimum protein requirements? The reason I ask is that you are evidently getting hungry, and your breakfast looks like it is less than 9 grams of protein (egg = 6, bacon = 1.5, mushrooms ... about 3/5 of a gram). You might recalculate the minimum protein requirements and see if you increase that to 2 eggs and three slices of bacon (close to 18 grams protein) you might not get the cravings. Breakfast is a challenge to get enough protein.
If your chicken breast is 4 - 5 ounces, you're getting 28 - 35 grams of protein from it. That may be about a third of what your minimum requirements are, but that will depend on the calculations you do.
Hey Lucille...did you have any fat in your lunch? Mayo or something??
I too struggle halfway through the day. If I make sure to add enough fat, I tend to FEEL fuller and therefore don't have any physical hunger...then I'm only fighting my MENTAL food obsession!

Hi, Lucille! Nice to see you! I think you're getting good advice from these friends. I am reading lots about fat being important, even for weight loss. If your body thinks you're starving, it conserves energy and you don't lose anything for all your white-knuckling. A good breakfast seems to help get through the day.
Headed for the chiro, then I'll be making a big pot of beef stew. I'll make two. One for the boys with potatoes and one for me that's PP friendly. :)
Hey Carol...I have been putting rutabaga in my roasts and stews and I think they are so incredibly yummy.
They look like potatoes (a touch yellower), and act like potatoes, and they mostly taste like potatoes (a touch sweeter)...
Think you could pull a fast one on them?
Yummy...!!!!

Plans blew up but I ate as planned. Initially I wasn't going to do the cheese but then my wife made mockafoni & cheese w/ hot dogs for herself. All the sudden I felt hungry so I went with the cheese and shunned my wife's extra food.

Too late for tonight, but they'd probably like it. I ate out of their batch and just avoided the taters. Wish I'd had some fresh mushrooms! I didn't thicken it, but it cooked for two hours so was pretty well blended. I sprinkled a little red wine vinegar on my serving and it was great!

Decent is good enough, Bill! :)
