Since I just know that suddenly everyone is going to get revved up for some exercise, I figured I'd better get a thread going so everyone can jump right in with their reports ;).
Keep in mind, only livestock should winter well. I hope our goal is not to pack it on over the winter/holiday months, but to at least maintain. And of course, who could say "no" to improvement :p?
But sitting on your duff won't get you there. Unfulfilled promises won't get you there. "Tomorrow" won't get you there.
Only hard work and action will bring you to your goal. We get what we work to earn. Nothing is handed to us.
Do you have enough determination and commitment to achieve your goal this month?

Hi ms. Shadow, long time no see !! Finally done with the trailrides for this year so its just you and me and the old elliptical machine !! er..... and of course every other day will be resistance work just to keep you happy.
One of my challenges for November will be to walk every other day and do resistance on the off days ---and to report in to you daily.
Today was walking for 20 min. and carrying stuff from my camper to the house as we have to get it ready for winter. I'm bushed so I did get my exercise in.
Missed everyone !!!

So far so good for November. Lower body w/o and stretching at the gym and a 10 mile bike ride. :)
My goal for exercising:
-2-3 weight workouts per week with 2 rest days minimum between, so each muscle group will have at least 4 days rest between.
-riding when weather permits, eliptical when it doesn't (2x/week)
-stretching at least 5 times a week
Nothing too extreme, I need to be able to follow through on it. Feel free to harrass me about it.
Welcome back Karole!

ditto, ditto, ditto and Definitely, welcome back Karole!
It felt good to be back on the bike. It's still 84 here, so it may be a little shock to my system to go to Philadelphia this weekend but... I'm going to try to ride Monday and Thursday nights this week.

Since I just know that suddenly everyone is going to get revved up for some exercise,...:eek: Are YOU the one who made all those leaves fall in my yard? I raked and hauled for about six hours today. I tried to remember to tighten my abs while doing it. ;) Of course, the raking motion is not present in any of my normal gym exercises, so I'm waiting with interest to see what's going to hurt in a couple of days.
Karole, I'm SO glad you're back! :):):)

Well the T shirts are having to be covered with waterproofs now  We had very heavy wind and rain most of yesterday, and more of the same promised for this week, although it is bright as I type. This means that my least favourite time of the year is upon us, with wet, slippery leaves on the pavements, and especially in the park. So I will only be going out alone if I absolutely have to for the next few weeks as I am terrified of falling again (and when I last did that there weren't even any leaves around  )
So I will be switching to my stationary bike for aerobic exercise, increasing my time by a minute or so every day, and, as I have lost enough weight to begin to make balancing easier, I will have another go at the resistance stuff. Jilly kindly sent me some pointers ages ago, so re-reading those will be a good place to start.
Good to see you, Karole.

Thanks for the welcome back everyone---it is so good to be back here again altho I really do enjoy our trailriding camping trips. They are all done for the year and I am committed to getting fully on track diet and exercise wise.
Today I did my new 15 min. resistance dvd. I really like it and it feels like a good workout so maybe I will stick with it--no erase that "maybe"---- I will stick with it !!!

I wanted someone besides me to have fun, you know :p! I will say I was really glad we were windy this weekend so I had an excuse to give them a miss :o. I had more than enough fun the past 3 weekends with them - I was ready for a break ;).
I tried to remember to tighten my abs while doing it. ;)
Yeah for you :D!
Of course, the raking motion is not present in any of my normal gym exercises, so I'm waiting with interest to see what's going to hurt in a couple of days.
I will confess that raking is too hard on my shoulders unless I only have patches here and there. When we have lots of leaves everywhere, I mow them up & use the leaf sucker. Either way, I can get some heavy loads going between emptying bags!

Hi gang, I'm going to join your group. I need some accountability and the sound of Shadow's whip cracking in the backround. Some of you may remember me from M&S at the old site. I was pappy back then. I had been exercising using my pedaling machine since June of this year. But I was experiencing a lot of pain. So Doc told me to back off a little. I was hitting it 7 days a week. Now I'm going for Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This afternoon I'll start my exercise routine. I'll start out with 30 minutes leg work on the pedaling machine. A 15 minute warmup on the pedaler for the upper body. Then 1 set 15 reps of bicep curls, tricep extensions, front deltoid raises, side deltoid raises, wrist curls, bench press and butterfly raises. I'm starting out with five pounds and work my way up. Followed by a ten minute upper body cool down on the pedaler. Then this evening linament and ice packs.
BTW this morning was my monthly doctors appointment at the VA hospital.
Weight 293 lost 6 pounds since beginning of October.

Hello everybody, I continue with my - mostly - cardio programme (2 more weeks to go). I'm not sure what I'll do then, but definitely not cardio (maybe sometimes) :D!
Sunday - 30 min of Joanna Hall's dvd Sweat & Sculpt to Success
Monday - a.m. 15 min upper body (that was fun); p.m. 20 min stationary bike (HIIT) (audiobook was necessary;))
Nice to see you back Karole, we missed you a lot!
Glad to see you Tyrone Bill, too. Congratulations on your progress!

That sounds better, Bill :). While I think we should be active in some form every day, I do think it's overkill to do your exercise routine 7 days a week.

Early Thanksgiving with family and friends, then we don't have to deal with airline blackouts. We're pretty non traditional traditionalists. Just a quick weekend, lots of walking and of course airport hiking :)
Man is it dark, when the time changes this way. Oh well, I'll work it out.

Yesterday was a rest day so today I plan to ride my bike if its still daylight when I get home (not likely :() or get on my eliptical, then do some stretching. I'm not a big fan of cardio for cardio's sake (I ride cause I like to) but I like to be really well warmed up before I stretch, so will do something to get the blood moving. :) We own a pretty nice eliptical, so there's no excuse for not doing a bit of cardio inside over the winter.
My soreness (the good kind ;)) from the weekend's workouts seems to have dissipated, so tomorrow will be a good day to do upper body again.

Not really - it's Kate Chopin's The Awakening, I like it a lot but not very suitable for HIIT, I'm afraid ;).

Well, I have been pedalling fairly hard but getting nowhere fast on my exercise bike :D Doing 10 minutes a day at the moment, but previous winters have got me up to 20 minutes.
Yesterday the postman kindly brought me '15-minute Total Body Workout: Get Real Results Anytime, Anywhere, Four 15-minute Workouts on DVD' by Joan Pagano. I will watch the DVD later, and try to join in, but mainly to see what it is about.
Ammy, I love your signature about maintaining 117lbs as that is roughly the amount that I have to lose, and your success gives me yet more encouragement that it is possible.
Thank you Needlewoman.

As a few of you know I'm a disabled veteran, who is confined to a wheelchair.
Every Thursday afternoon I am visited by a physical therapist, Teri. She me puts me through a tough stretching routine. She then finishes up with a massage of the lower back and legs. The purpose is to help with range of motion, flexibility and to prevent atrophy of my muscles.
So on Thursdays this is my routine.
I started my day (again) with am yoga.
Tonight is working at the cat rescue, so that is my workout. It's two hours of bending, stretching, walking, lifting...so that counts!
oh...there's a bit of extra arm workout too since I have to PET the kitties too!!! :D:D:D

Didn't manage to watch the DVD yesterday, but have the rare luxury of the house to myself for a while, so will get some lunch and watch it now, before going out again as it is DH's birthday and I want to get something special for dinner.

You know, Bill, since you mentioned it :)... I know you were not asking, but while the subject is here, I would like to say that I am very thankful for what you and others have done to protect this wonderful country and all of our freedoms. I am sorry for all the sacrifices our troops have made and I hope you know it is not taken for granted but is appreciated in a way I will never be able to express!

I'll tell you sometimes Teri's stretching routines are quite grueling. At times a little painful. The massage is very relaxing and is actually a procedure for improving blood circulation.

Bill - I am sure Teri puts you through the wringer ! And the thanks goes to YOU ;)!
Okay, gang, let's get to moving it !!!! The week isn't over yet  !
I finished off my scheduled exercise for the week and will get some activity in tomorrow doing leaves & yard work. Just 'cause the exercise is done doesn't mean the work is over....
Now, what about YOU????????
Besides the am yoga, and working at the cat rescue, I walked to the library and back (1.5mile) and finished 5 min on the ab rocker.
However, I had alarm clock issues this morning and got up 1.5hrs later than normal, so no am yoga today, and no chance of doing anything later as I'm now on the run until 10pm tonight.
I hope to get in my 5min on the ab rocker just so I keep that going.

:). What special kind of dinner are you making him?
I got our usual birthday fare - rump steak - as it is too expensive to have very often. I also got the lowest carb readymade chocolatey dessert I could find , and, yes, I ate a bit of it.
My legs ache from 2 trips out yesterday, but I have done my 10 minutes on the exercise cycle.
I still haven't viewed the DVD. Windows Media Player didn't recognise it on my computer upstairs, and I can barely 'drive' the DVD player in the sitting room, besides that is too public, and leaves me open to ridicule if caught. (Oh, the joys of having young men in the household who take the mickey out of anything and everything, but usually their long-suffering parents. You'd think they would be grateful that I am taking control of my health and weight, wouldn't you?) The DVD worked on DH's computer (also in the sitting room), so this weekend I will have to download the player that he uses.

I'll be going to the gym after work for legs, abs and stretching. :) Probably won't have time for anything tomorrow, have to work am and then go to a B-day party 1.5 hour drive away in the aft. so must get it done today!

NW - As long as it was a small bit and you accounted for it, then you'll be okay :). It's when we have large bits - or small bits repeatedly - that we run into trouble ;).

That's okay - I know you'll get to view it sooner or later. I wouldn't want the harassment of the young men so I don't blame you for not wanting it either!

I worked a bit late and thought my workout might suffer because of it but I was pleasantly surprised. I felt pretty strong and got a really good burn going. :) Took the time for an extended stretch even. I'm not working in the morning after all so I'm hoping for decent enough weather to go for a ride before the 3 hour round trip drive for the B-day party. DH's grandma is turning 91.

Walked around the Mall of America last night. Not a lot of walking, but I parked on the far side of the movie theatre, so I walked to and from...and it's a big mall. :D
I started my weekend with am yoga, and tonight I dance.

I'm so glad to be in such a noble company!
Wednesday was off as I had another day of my headache. (I'm sure it had something to do with my term paper, so well, I just accepted it. I used to have a real severe headaches as a child and doctors couldn't find the reason. Now there are just from time to time and I can quite often tell what was a trigger, I am not very good at relaxing and there are also some hormonal, monthly issues... Anyway it was bad enough to decide to take a day off.)
Thu - Flex Band Cardio workout (30 min)
Fri - 15 min upper body + 10 min stretch
Sat - off (shabbat)
And now I'm ready to post in a new thread! See you there.

I have no excuse for a couple of days there as I ran all over the place with this one and that one. They were unplanned trips and I ran out of time to do any thing for my muscles . I did do some heavy, heavy house work yesterday---my dh was probably thrilled as not much got done while I was feeling icky.
Off to report todays workout on the proper date. See ya there !

!
What the Shadow said , only double Bill !!
It's folks like you that let folks like us enjoy the freedoms we do --thanks again for your service.
