View Full Version : Which PP book should I start with?

About a year back when I first read about Protein Power on a newsgroup I picked up a few book, glanced thru them, and started a half-hearted low-carb diet. I lost forty pounds in a matter of months, then things tapered off, and I eventually gained back about 5lbs. So now, about a year later I'm aiming to make a more concerted effort.

So, I've already been won over by real-world results and I get the basic gist of how PP works, but after a year of doing my own thing I'm pretty hazy on some of the details (carb allowance per day, which specific fruits/vegies to include, helpful suppliments, etc.). So, which PP book (or two) would be best to get caught up with?

By the way, I'm in my early 30's, so 6-Week Cure isn't quite what I'm looking for.

I started with the original book Protein Power then I read PPLP soon after. There is great info in both and it is not just duplication. I'm definitely glad I read them in the order they were written.

I winged for the first while too, but it was nice to gain a firmer grip on what was going on in my body and why it works etc.

Good luck! :)

Welcome :)

I wouldn't rule out 6W just because you are in your thirties -it really isn't age specific (even if the title is) and it may be just the sort of plan to get you back on track.

As for the other books - it depends what you are looking for. If you want to be told what to eat when including menus and supplement advice the 30 day book would serve you well. If you are like me and need to know the 'why' as well as the 'how', then PPLP is for you with perhaps one of the other books as well for more detail on the diet itself.

HTH - and don't forget to ask a lot of questions - we are here to help

Thanks for the replies. I've got another question I might as well try here rather than starting a new thread:

Is The Protein Power Lifeplan Gram Counter particularly handy, or are online resources more than enough to provide the same data?

Oh, I'm mostly asking because the local libraries don't have this particular book, so I've never taken a peek at it. :)

I prefer online sites, tho the PPLGC could be useful if away from a computer for several days at a time...on vacations and etc.
