I am always ready to give a good example, of course when I am around!;)
Not haven't decided on my week plan yet, probably 2 days of pilates, 2 days of resistance, & 2 days of cardio.
Sun - 5 min WU + Pilates abs (10 min) & legs (10 min) + 3 min CD
Have a great week!

Ahh the start of a new and (hopefully) better week !!
Today I started off with my new 15 min. dvd routine. It implements small weights and intersperses some cardio workouts in there too. Good work out I think.
Then I did 8 trips up and down the basement stairs, then dh and I did yard work for a good hour and a half which included raking leaves.
So all in all a very good day ..... after several not so very good days.

With a bit of trepidation, I am ready??? to join your group. Your reputation as a tuff taskmaster has me shaking in my boots (slippers really). :D
It looks as though we are to post our workout plans and then the actual WO. Is this correct? any other info? Well, here goes-
Wk of 11-9 this is my ultimate plan
MWF 12 minute elliptical HIIT wo (this is the Dr al Sears PACE program)
TuThSa 15 min of recumbent bike with moderate intensity along with light wts for UB wo.
I also walk for 2-3 miles on nice days
If I get all that done, bedtime comes at 7pm.:D
Comments please (be kind)

Met with DS at the gym this morning for upper body and stretching. :) I'm hoping to work out with her more, she needs the motivation even more than me, if that's possible.
Tomorrow will probably be just rest, but maybe some stretching. Tues. or Wed. for lower body. I must have done a good job on abs on Fri. I can still feel them.

Sunday the 8th I did my 5min on The Red but not really anything else.
Today, Monday the 9th I started my day with am yoga and 5min on The Red. My hips are sore today, I hope it is muscles and not my bursitis...

Posting your plan is great - that way I know you're at least thinking about it ;). However, doing it and letting me know it's done is the goal .

I'm still using my exercise cycle daily, and yesterday I walked to the library.
I have also rearranged our bedroom trying to make a space for doing this resistance stuff, but the only resistant thing was the furniture. DH told me off for doing it on my own. Hope you are back on track soon, Carol !! I whine big time when I am feeling like that.
I am pretty tired right now as we had a great ride from 9 a.m. til almost 3 p.m. It was wonderful and not an area we have ridden in very much. The scenery was just beautiful--lots of high hills over looking the river with a lot of rocky formations thrown in to add character. Very nice time. I know folks say the horse does all the work but that just ain't so.:):) Plus when we got back to the main road-- about a half mile from the trailers we all got off and walked in to stretch our muscles. Good day all around.

I have finally managed to watch the DVD. It has 4 15 minute workouts, all involving bursts of cardio with resistance in between. 1 of the workouts is a total no no for me, as it involves almost dancing, and stepping and hopping which my duff leg will never allow me to do again. The other three should be possible. I should be able to do most of the movements, but not at the speed of the DVD. There is an accompanying book with pictures, so between the 2 I should manage to do the workouts at my own speed. Unfortunately I shall lose the benefit of the music that way :( Some of the stretching at the end of the workouts will be exceedingly challenging , as it involves getting on the floor, and of course getting up at the end.
I don't know how much my problems with speed are due to my disability, and how much to my weight. I also don't see how I can bend to do some of the movements as my fat stops me bending in the middle as much as the model on the DVD can. I shall just have to do what I can, and hope to improve with time. I think for now though, I shall go back to those websites that you recommended and look for a resistance workout, without any cardio, that I can do at my own pace. You scared me before, when you said "you don't wanna be lopsided!" because I didn't understand what you meant.
needlewoman, have you tried "exercise tv"?? you can download a workout at a silly low cost...
That is where I got my am yoga workout.
btw, I did my am yoga today.
I hurt my neck last night at the rescue. A guy was working above me while I was working in a lower cage. We were talking and I stood up after I was done and he had opened the cage RIGHT above my head. I didn't hurt my head as the kennel doors have almost a plastic tube as the frame, but I crunched my neck in the process...OUCH.
so last night I came home, took a muscle relaxer, and went to bed. It's not bad today, but I had JUST gone to the chiropractor hours earlier and fear I'll be making another trip very soon...

Uh Oh!! Anybody superstitious?
I got my standard exercise routine done before breakfast.
30 minutes leg work on the pedaling machine.
15 minute warmup on the pedaler for the upper body.
1 set 15 reps of bicep curls, tricep extensions, front deltoid raises, side deltoid raises, wrist curls, bench press and butterflies using five pounds.
10 minute upper body cool down on the pedaler.

No, I had never heard of exercise tv until now. It looks vey promising, but will have to investigate properly this afternoon as DS2 is bleating about lunch. I really must force that boy to learn to cook, as suggestion hasn't had any effect
Sorry to hear that you got your neck hurt for you. How stupid to work above you like that - there surely must have been something else he could have done for a while.

Thanks, kiddo. Rest is sounding good about now. The adrenelin of work is wearing off and I just want to close my eyes.
Then that is definitely what you should do !
This is such a weird bug! I'm rarely sick, but I'm a whiner when that happens!
Aren't we all ;)?
The Geezer's about three or four days ahead of me and he said he was "starting" to feel better. I have hope!
It's always great to know there's light at the end of the tunnel :).
I just feel like I'm losing tone daily.
Even if you are, it's not that much - and you'll get it back much faster if you're well when you start again. At least you've been at it long enough that it won't take nearly as long to gain ground as it did when you started exercising !
There, you feel better now, don't you !

I'm really glad its a rest day for me, I'm tired and sore. I may try to stretch a bit later on, that would be a good idea.
Aren't rest days wonderful when they're well-earned, Jilly :)? I think a stretch later on sounds like a great idea !

Awesome, Karole :D!!!! Sounds like a great day all around !

You can always ditch their moves & go with the beat but doing something your body doesn't mind :). I modify my cardio all the time - my joints won't let me do otherwise.
There is an accompanying book with pictures, so between the 2 I should manage to do the workouts at my own speed. Unfortunately I shall lose the benefit of the music that way :(
Doing it at your own speed is the only safe way there is - and is far more important than trying to exactly follow a tape. As I have told Adina many times - there is no video police ;). As long as you're working out to the best of your ability and in a safe way, THAT is what counts. Not learning dance moves or anything else.
Some of the stretching at the end of the workouts will be exceedingly challenging , as it involves getting on the floor, and of course getting up at the end.
You can always adapt what they're doing while sitting in a chair :).
I don't know how much my problems with speed are due to my disability, and how much to my weight.
Most likely a combination of both.
I also don't see how I can bend to do some of the movements as my fat stops me bending in the middle as much as the model on the DVD can. I shall just have to do what I can, and hope to improve with time.
That is all any of us can do, NW!!! Besides, if we started out in the shape of the instructors in the tape, we'd be doing our own workouts to sell, not participating in them :p.
I think for now though, I shall go back to those websites that you recommended and look for a resistance workout, without any cardio, that I can do at my own pace.
I think that would be an awesome idea ! Resistance is the most important thing anyway - and you can always add cardio in as you lose weight and get stronger. And there's always walking for a bit of it in the meantime.
You scared me before, when you said "you don't wanna be lopsided!" because I didn't understand what you meant.
I think you'd have to do a lot of resistance work before you'd really need to worry about it ;). But it's a lot easier to have good habits from the beginning than to try to retrain yourself once you've developed them.

Actually, I'm very superstitious, but after working with Italians for many years, I now consider this a "lucky" day as they did. It's nice to be able to learn a new trick or two sometimes, ya know :p?
I got my standard exercise routine done before breakfast.
Well done :D!

Ah but I did NOT miss my am yoga....yesterday OR today.
I missed the Red
I also didn't do as much of a workout at the rescue...but it was not my fault!!
We took on more volunteers and we just didn't have to work very hard! But I had LOTS of time to sit with the kitties...oh and that "arm exercise" I do while at the rescue...:p
No cardio today- just wts
Our area is flooded so helped a buddy rearrange items in his garage- that should count for something, right??
This storm system is hanging on the coast with very little movement and no sign of letup until Sat afternoon.

Just did my 15 min. resistance and cadio DVD and from reading Needlewomans description I am doing the same one she has purchased. I can certainly see when a person with her foot issues would not be able to do some of the routine. And they do seem to do some of them pretty fast. So far I have only attempted the first section and am waiting to build myself up a bit before I try a harder version. But for today I did it and reported it. (What more can a Shadow want from me???)

Hi Karole,
Is yours in a really pink book? I wondered about the speed - it looked impossible to me, and a bit distorted, but maybe that was watching it on the computer. The sound seemed OK though. Very odd. I bought it used so wasn't very expensive. I think I can get enough out of it, especially later on when I am not carrying quite so much excess baggage.

My energy level and mood can be easily described in one word right now:
UGH....
Amy, I hope your neck, and kitty, is ok.
NW, do what works for you and work up to the harder stuff.
Karole, good work on doing the resistance training.
Shadow, keep whipping us.
Carole, you are so consistent with your workouts I do not need to say anything.
I am exhausted now, I will be back after a 9 hour nap......:)

Today is an off day. I'll be watching football.
I'm sure I'll be getting some stretching in several times today.
Got in the HIIT 12 min on ellipt. not much else on schedule except a "look forward to lunch", nap and joining Bill in watching college football.
My DW's daughter married a former FL Gator lineman-BIG BOY- (who is now a PHD in organic chem- a rare occurence) so we follow them. Sorry Penn State lost last week Bill but they always are worth watching.
Might be able to get a walk in tomorrow in some sunshine (what's that?)
Nothing else on the plate.

Yes, it does have a pink book and the title is 15 Minute Total Body Workout by Joan Pagano.
I really do like it as it inserts instructions as to form with in the workout --I am so bad about form and breathing correctly and etc !! It also notes the muscles that are targeted, not all the time but some of the exercises. I always feel really good after doing the routine, but sometimes I think that girl demonstrating the exercises is a computer generated model. It may be the bare walls she is in or something but she doesn't look "real". Does she to you??
Glad you got your copy fairly cheap and can get something out of it, as I said I really like it.

Met DS at the gym again, did a full body workout this time, and a little stretching. :) It's going to take a little longer to dial in what weights to use for the various exercises doing the "slow burn" protocol. Doing it this way certainly shows you what areas you're weaker/stronger in.

I see I forgot to mention I did yardwork for over an hour yesterday and today I spent over an hour and a half doing the same. Whew. I am tired but feel good that it is done and it looks so much better.
I will get back on the resistance tomorrow.
