I didn’t get my usual make-ahead meals done this past weekend, so I’m scrambling and I don’t like it. I still need to make more grab & go lunches to get me through the week. Planning ahead is central to my ability to eat well. I don’t always make great decisions when I’m hungry! How about you?
Breakfast is a protein shake. Lunch will be a cheeseburger patty. Dinner will be something with pork.
This head cold is wearing tedious! I start coughing as soon as I lay down. Short on sleep this morning. :p Nice to be in my own bed again, though.
Carol i hate that! It usually throws me directly into the carb-meals!!
I KNOW that won't happen to you though!!! You are STRONG!
I woke at 4:45...couldn't sleep anymore so i got up and did yoga and played around on facebook.
Now I need to do my 5min on the red and get inthe shower. The scale stayed the same...again...
8am brat wrap, 2hb eggs
11:30 1med cuke, lc goulash
2:30 lightnfit yogurt, 30 almonds
6pm 4oz chix, 5spears asparagus, 1c riced cauliflower, indian sauce
We haven't purchased the indian sauce yet so i have to give the amount and counts later.

I'm only as strong as my plan, Amy, and when I throw a pity party it has seismic qualities. ;)
You're up early! Do you get any DOMS from that new contraption?

Glad to have you back Carol and I hope you feel better soon. I must've skimmed yesterdays posts cuz I didn't realize you were sick :(
Today is the last "shake day". Lunch will be a LC wrap filled with romaine, steak, bacon and cheese.
I need to re-read the chapter on weeks 3/4. All that seems to be sticking with me is the "no cheese" rule.
Off to make the lunch and get to work.

Hope you are feeling better soonly, Carol !! I know it's absolutely no fun ---then to have to go to work on top of it is another drag. Hopefully you can rest better tonight.
Your burger with the mushrooms and cheese (you mentioned yesterday) sure did sound good... I'm going to the grocery store later this morning and guess what I'm going to bring home????
I need some cheese too--American cheese for one as I want to make some broccoli cheese soup and later this week some Dreamfield noodles with cheese. Yummmy.
Dh wants to play golf with his buds, so I will make the rounds at Wal-Mart and other assorted stores in the little town up the road while he is doing that.
I think I will get off here and go do my resistance dvd so that the Shadow will be pleased with me one day in a row.:nod: See ya all later on .
Carol,
Right now, with only doing 5 min, I feel a slight tightness in my abs and my sides and I feel the muscles in my upper tights.
I am leary of increasing the time too quickly as I think it's affecting my hips (bursitis). I am taking it slow and seeing what happens.
Yesterday I could barely sit my hips hurt so badly...today...nothing yet.
So we'll see.
But it's so easy to sit in front of the tv for 5 min and just get'r'done.
Hi Carol,
It seems that I fight allergies and the ensuing sinus infections many months of the year- not very pleasant. Get well soon
My week of increased activity did not yield the desired results as my weight is within 1/2 # of the week before (down 1/2 on Sat and up 1/2 today). The past LC experiences yielded large wt losses in short periods of time- so this is very puzzling. :(
The daily averages for the last week and 1/2 are the following ECC 27, Prot 121. Calories are calc by fitday and show a low of 1300 to a high of 1575 w an ave of 1450.
I will continue to follow the PP woe to see where it leads me.
I did join up with "the shadow" to keep me active.

Having on plan foods prepared is pretty crucial for me. I work, when I'm working , uncertain hours so if I work late I need something I can grab fast. If I know there's something at home that will be quick to put together I won't be as tempted to stop at A&W or rotten Ronny's on the way.
B & L today will be the usual eggs, smokies, chicken and cauli.
D: other half of Sundays flank steak, mushrooms and salad.
Hope your head clears soon Carole. :)
Take care of those hips Amy!

Today is the last "shake day"....bet you're glad! I was, even though I didn't get hungry on the shakes.
I need to re-read the chapter on weeks 3/4. All that seems to be sticking with me is the "no cheese" rule.
I think there's also a no-nuts rule as well, Becca. Is it no-cheese, or no-dairy? I never did go back to cream in my coffee (except on Sunday morning).

It's so good, it almost feels sinful to eat it! :D

Oh, I forgot about your hip history, Amy. Take it slow and don't push it.
But it's so easy to sit in front of the tv for 5 min and just get'r'done.I could use one of those. I hate floor exercises.

B: Sausage/eggs w/ cheese
L: Atkins shakes & carbmaster yogurt
D: Less than usual
This weekend I found myself snacking a lot and then when spending time with my family I had 3 diet sodas. Yesterday went well except I ate more than I needed for dinner (din't feel like I'd hit satiated yet).
Today I'm trying to eat less than normal just to get back on track.

The past LC experiences yielded large wt losses in short periods of time- so this is very puzzling. :(Monty, it's quite common to have a harder time generating weight loss after having tried low carb before. Dr. Mike writes about it in his blog. That's been my experience too. There's also quite a bit of writing that exercise, as good as it is for our bodies, doesn't really help much with weight loss. Sometimes a change in routine or type of exercise will help break a stall. Our bodies get complacent.

Your calories might be a bit low, which can make your body hang on to the weight. It's counterintuitive to add fat to a diet when you're not losing, but it's often the advice given, and I've seen it work.
I will continue to follow the PP woe to see where it leads me.

I sometimes keep nuts in my car to help me get home, too. Once I'm starving, common sense goes out the window! :o

This helps a lot-
I couldn't see how to add calories other than carbs and protein (my hunger is almost nil so more prot is out of the ?)or drink a lot (can't handle much of that anymore).
I didn't think of adding fat but as you say, it is counterintuitive. I will add some peanut butter and a couple tbsps of coconut oil- that ought to do it.
Thanks again,
Monty

About the only thing that I plan ahead is my meals. I think this is the most important thing you can do in any weightloss Program.
It's been a nice warm fall day. So I took advantage of it and spent the day lounging outdoors. My neighbor came over with his quitar and did a little picking this afternoon.
Breakfast- 1/2c cottage cheese, 7 breakfast sausage links, 47gms strawberries. 2c green tea.
40gms protein, 9gms carbs
Lunch- 2 roast beef rollups; 4ozs deli roast beef, 2ozs deli swiss cheese, 2 red leaf lettuce leafs, 1T chipotle mayonnaise, 1 med peach(3-1/2ozs), 2c green tea
42gms protein, 9gms carbs.
Supper- Baked orange-roughy fillet; 1/2c green beans; 1/2 med peach, 2c green tea.
42gms protein, 9gms carbs.

The last of the shakes has been consumed. I did pick up a can of coconut milk to keep handy for the next 2 weeks. Working on my plan for tomorrow, think I'm going to put the "Meat Week Chili" from the book into the crockpot in the morning, will have to tweak it a bit, so hope it works out ok.

Ate as planned today...except I added 1.5 slices of turkey bacon because I was so hungry. I didn't realize my calories were below 1500, that's too low for me. The bacon did the trick.
