I notice several soup and chili recipes use soy beans. Is it okay to use regular kidney beans. I'm little hesitant about soy products after reading some of these articles.

I never use soy beans, because they don't seem to integrate with the rest of the food like other beans. They just sit there tasting like soy. If you use some other kind of bean, adjust the carb counts accordingly.

I was wondering about different kinds of beans myself. I have a soup that I make that out of 8 quarts of soup I add one can of navy, pinto, and kidney beans. It's difficult to figure out how many servings you would get out of this big 8 quarts of soup. So, it would be hard to determine the carb count. Everything else in the soup is low carb. I would suppose that if you only had like 2 cups for your meal and nothing else it would not be so bad. I guess I will need to put everything to paper and try and figure how much damage it does.:rolleyes:

Some people have problems with soy products. I for one - having thyroid problems stay clear of soy products. I guess it's a matter of medical and personal preferences. It's suppose to be high in protein - but, there are other sources for protein - at least for protein powder. Egg white protein is one.

I am sure there are others that will have more info that they will offer their opinions too.;)
