Good morning, weekenders! Are you shopping today? I have company coming, and I almost hope they decide the roads are too bad, because I have so much to do for the holidays.
Might be going to the new Mediterranean restaurant in town, so I'm not sure what I will have. I hope it's not all hummus and grains, but just in case, I'll have protein for a late breakfast and eat rabbit food at the restaurant.
It helps to have a backup plan when you don't know what you'll be facing. Do you have a favorite?

Good morning! Carol that made me LAUGH "I almost hope they decide the roads are too bad, because I have so much to do for the holidays." I understand 100%!!!! Have fun at the restaurant and great plan!
I'm working in the shop today. It is insane as we get closer to the holidays :)

When I go to a restaurant I've never been to before I always Google to see if they have a website. If they do I check out their menu. Most restaurants have a wide variety of roasted, broiled or grilled meats, poultry or fish. I always bypass the breads, potatoes and corn for an extra helping of allowable veggies.
I'll be spending some time today working up a new exercise program using my resently acquired resistance bands.
Breakfast- 2 eggs, 4 whites, 3 Esskay turkey bacon, 105gms strawberries, 2c green tea.
43gms protein, 10gms carbs.
Lunch- 4oz grilled sirloin pork chop; broccoli salad(broccoli florets, onion, bacon, pecans, dressed w/mayo, vinegar, Splenda and celery seed), 2c green tea.
49gms protein, 8gms carbs.
Supper- 5oz grilled steak, steamed broccoli/cauliflower, 2c green tea.
40gms protein, 11gms carbs.
Everybody enjoy your weekend.

When I go to a restaurant I've never been to before I always Google to see if they have a website.I do too, usually, but this is a new little restaurant in a small town. It's worth a try!
My company's not coming today. The roads are still bad and they're an hour and a half away. I'm not too upset because I've got lots to do and we can get together after Christmas.
So far, just coffee today. Time to get some sustenance! ;)

Last nights dinner at mom's went well, I snuck some cheese off the top of the lasagne but other than that just had my chicken and caesar salad. The cake was no problem at all, an icecream cake which I wouldn't have had any of even if I wasn't watching my carbs. :) I may have had a bit more wine than I should but my carbs were still under 40 easily.
Wine will be the biggest carb factor tonight too I'm sure. I now have two events to attend. I just found out last night that an old friend of mine died recently so I will be attending his wake on the way to the company dinner. I will probably feel a bit overdressed going into a local pub (for the wake) wearing my cocktail dress and fancy fuschia shoes (for the dinner party) but my friend that died would probably have appreciated it actually. :) Since I wear steel toe boots to work I thought for the party I would get the most ridiculous pair shoes I could find. Silly fuschia things with about a 4.5" heel. Hopefully I'm not reporting a sprained ankle tomorrow.
I will keep the carbs really low today to give me more room for them at dinner. We're going to a really nice restaurant where getting some type of grilled meat will be easy, just have to avoid potatoes, pasta and rolls.

Hello all. I wanted to say good morning but just noticed it's already 5pm!!
I had a meeting from 10 to 4 today, then had a work issue to deal with, so I'm just walking in the door.
I'm on plan for today...may have a few too many carbs by end of day, but I will do my best to keep it close.
10am 1lc bread, 2burger patties at home
4pm 2dbl stack Wendy's burgers eating both little halves of the bun. (I was so durn hungry!!)
5:30pm roasted turkey
8pm wine wine and wine
We have a holiday party tonight, it's our favorite party of the year, and I know I'll have lots of wine (maybe 3 glasses) in the 4 hours we'll be there, so I may exceed my carbs, but I will stay away from the desserts.

I'm glad you've got a plan, Jilly. You'll be fine; just be careful on those heels!

I'm glad you've got a plan, too, Amy. I hope you both have a good time tonight!

Doy(DW) had to be taken, by our DD, to the ER last night. Doy has been having trouble with her asthma. Last night she took a bad coughing spell. We both heard a loud popping sound. At the ER, they xrayed and determined she had broken two ribs. She is in a lot of pain.
Not much planned for today. Doy and I are going to watch some old Christmas movies. Our all time favorite is Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol. The 1938 version with Reginald Owen as Scrooge.
I've pretty much figured out what exercises I'll be doing with the bands. Just have to determine at what resistance level to start.
Breakfast- Mushroom/Swiss omelet(2 whole eggs, 4 egg whites, 1oz swiss cheese, 1/4c sauted mushrooms), 3/4c strawberries, 2 Esskay turkey bacon, 2c green tea.
46gms protein, 9gms carbs
Lunch- 4oz grilled chicken; broccoli salad(broccoli florets, onion, bacon, pecans, dressed w/mayo, vinegar, Splenda and celery seed); 2c green tea
49gms protein, 8gms carbs.
Supper- Chili Rellenos(ground beef, onion, pepper, chipotle in adobo, water, steak dust, chili powder, garlic, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, 2c green tea.
40gms protein, 11gms carbs.
At the party last night I had a couple deviled eggs, some olives, six slices of cheese on six crackers and three small bites of caramel cheesecake. It wasn't the worst thing I could do...but...
I avoided the fresh loaves of french bread and the fudgy desserts.
Today I started my day with two 'cuties' (tiny clemetines) and scrambled eggs with turkey cheese and bacon bits. MMmmmmm
Now I have to go get groceries for the holiday baking I have to do on Wednesday.
My meals are made for next week, I just have to boil some eggs, so ti should be a nice day to get some things done (shopping, cleaning, finish holiday cards, etc).
BILL! Oh my goodness!!! Hope Doy is okay!!!! Yikes, that was some cough!!
What are the rest of you up to on this Sunday?
OOh oh oh!! I forgot to tell you! We bought our holiday gift this year. A recumbant bike. Not my first choice of exercise equipment, but it was the equipment we could both agree on (cause you can read a book while riding). It gets put together today, and ridden tonight!

Yes it was quite a spell. Now she still has the cough but she has to cope with the broken ribs!

Bill, that sounds really painful! Broken ribs are tender anyway, but coughing with them broken sounds like torture. Here's to Doy healing quickly (and her asthma symptoms lessening).
I'm still waiting for my liquid sucralose I ordered from Amazon; I shipped it to my daughter instead of to my house, and she has mailed it to me. Totally my fault, but Amazon had already frozen the order within 10 minutes and I could not change the shipping info. Oh well. Anyway, I made Laura Dolson's Low Carb Coconut Macaroons (recipe is here (http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/desserts/r/locarbmacaroons.htm)) with regular granulated Splenda. I reduced the sweetener to 3/4 of a cup and they came out pretty well. Since I've been off sweets for many months now, I have no idea if they taste like a real coconut macaroon, but they are pretty tasty to me.

Stickiny my head in.... been a so so weekend with food. :(
Bill so sorry for your wife. I'm an asthmatic myself, been achy from coughing but thankfully have never really broken anything. Hope she's taking her meds and resting comforably now.
Went to a Christmas program yesterday (we go every year to one downtown) was quite nice and for once we had some colder weather to go with it.

Bill, my thoughts are with Doy right now too. I've broken ribs in the past, can't imagine how much worse it would be having to cough in that situation. I hope she's doing well.
Both parties went well last night. It was really nice to see a bunch of people I haven't seen in a long time at the wake. The company party was fun but I definitely had too much wine. I've become a really cheap drunk. What wouldn't have affected me very much, if at all, in the past now has me tipsy and hungover. :o There is one more party next week but I think if I go I will teetotal that one. I did survive without breaking an ankle at least.
Heading to the gym in a bit, it will be hard starting with not feeling so well but hopefully I will be feeling better by the end of it. Good thing I made plans with my sister to meet there or I would probably whimp out.
I have a lamb roast out for dinner, will have it with salad I think.

Thanks Frank, Becca and Jilly. She's using a moist heat heating pad in addition to the pain killers. She's doing pretty good til she has to cough.

I've pretty much figured out what exercises I'll be doing with the bands. Just have to determine at what resistance level to start. Start slow and see how it feels a day or two later. That way you don't have surprises!

Since I've been off sweets for many months now, I have no idea if they taste like a real coconut macaroon, but they are pretty tasty to me.I remember the real ones are very very sweet. That recipe sounds like something I could make. Yum!

Glad you're here, Becca.

I did some major toy shopping today. Now I get to wrap them all, but the party isn't until Dec. 26. My food is messed up--way too light on protein. I had some walnuts with my coffee & cream this morning and then never ate again until some greek yogurt at suppertime. That's hard to believe!
It was nice and warm today; nearly 40F!

Yikes! I consider that "30 below" (the Frank Scale uses 70F as the baseline).
