Good morning! Are you feeling deprived? Make sure you have plenty of pre-prepared food you like to fall back on when everyone seems to be mowing down on goodies. Then, look a little closer and you'll notice others who are choosing carefully and avoiding certain things altogether. :) We are many!
Breakfast was a strawberry shake, lunch will be a potluck, dinner will be that pot roast I didn't fix yesterday because I was too busy fixing for the potluck. ;)
Have a great Tuesday!
Morning everyone...Crabby Amy is here.
The "rash" I had looked at yesterday turned out to be Shingles.
This is not me, but it's exactly what and where I have it.

I want everyone to take a moment and google images of shingles, because when I told the Dr I'd had it for a week, she yelled at me for not coming in sooner. (okay, "yelled" may not be the right word, but you get what I'm saying). She said if you can catch it in a day or two then you can treat and it really reduces the healing time.
I waited a week...it was in the blistering stage when I went to the Dr.
It's also lodged nicely in my lymphnodes. The Dr could see how swollen they are.
Anyway, if you don't know about shingles, which can happen in anyone who has already had the chicken pox, please google the images so you KNOW what it is if you or anyone you know has a rash.
It is brougth on by stress or trauma. A friend of mine got it after falling on ice. She fell on her hip, and shortly after got a "rash".
Well, I had a terrible neck pain and waiting a long time before I went to the chrio. I had to go twice because my neck was so bad.
Anyway, that was enough to bring on shingles...
And right before I see all my nieces and nephews (who have never had chicken pox)! Good thing it's in a spot that can be concealed by bandages and turtlenecks.
Although the general "ache" is getting pretty annoying.
However, as much as I wanted to, I did NOT use it as an excuse to eat. I finished yesterday with 20ecc, not bad.
and it would have been less, but I was eating "sweet nutty balls" that I originally made for Christmas, but they're not right and they won't travel well.
8am brat wrap, 2hb eggs
11:30am lc lasagna, cuke
3pm iced coffee, cheese
6pm dbl burger, side salad

Thanks for the update and information Ammy. I'll know what to do if I get a rash since I have had Chicken Pox.
2 Shakes so far and 3 eggs.

Hi all,
Carol, honestly I rarely feel deprived on PP. It allows enough variety to satisfy my needs.
Amy thanks for the info, hoping you get relief soon. Shingles can be quite painful.
Ottowa good day to you.
Keeping busy with holiday stuff, meal planning, last minute wrapping. Always seems to be something to do.
I'm putting off all exercise activity for a short time. I'm experiencing a good bit of nerve pain and my exercising is aggravating it more.
Chow for today:
Breakfast- 1/2c cottage cheese, 7 breakfast sausage links, 47gms strawberries. 2c green tea.
40gms protein, 9gms carbs
Lunch- 2 roast beef rollups; 4ozs deli roast beef, 2ozs deli swiss cheese, 2 red leaf lettuce leafs, 1T chipotle mayonnaise, 1 med peach(3-1/2ozs), 2c green tea
42gms protein, 9gms carbs.
Supper- 6oz grilled chicken; 1/2c green beans; 1/2 med peach, 2c green tea.
42gms protein, 9gms carbs.
Hi all,
I've been missing for a few days due to family get together at our home and an ortho exam yesterday.
Still on plan except for a slip up on bean dip with scoops- that's what they are called.
The ortho went well and the knee can be fixed with arthro if needed. A cortisone shot fixed the twinges altho it also gave me a reaction- flushing and sleeplessness. Felt like a naicin reaction. Clearing up now tho. My excuses for Shadow are coming to an end.
Ammy - I do not envy you with the shingles. A close friend had them recently and waited 3 weeks, until she couldn't stand the pain anymore, to get treatment. She still has some minor pain. Her Doc shook her head in disgust for her not seeking help earlier. Good luck with a quick recovery.
Thanks all!
So far Tylenol is taking much of the edge off, but the nice thing is my Dr said if I need something more 'powerful' then to just call and she'll set up a prescription. She's a REALLY good doctor.
Not a lot of burning today, just the fullness of the lymphnode and general aches and pains when turning my head...
*sigh*
sorry to complain...but on a lighter note I'm still not eating over it...that's something worth celebration because I'm SURE food would make me feel better...!!!

Hi, ya'll,
Ammy, <<<hug>>> bless your heart. I had the Shingles a few years ago, but went into derm doc pretty soon, she gave me a topical which helped alot. So glad you are not eating over it!
Bill, hope your nerve pain gets better soon.
Randy, so good to "see " ya.
Carol, you are so right. Today, was food day at the clinic I was in. I stayed on plan, but did figure the carbs for 1/4th of a cinammon roll, which I enjoyed, I am 30 ECC's now, but will take great care with my food tonight, also will up the exercise tonight.
Menu:
B-eggs, lc toast, tea
L-boars head deli ham/lf cheese on green salad w/ salsa for dressing
S-clementine
S-1/4th of a cinammon roll, (needs to be spelled, SINamon roll)
D-grilled steak, green salad w/ salsa for dressing (I really love that in lieu of reg dressing).
Have a great one, all.

I have a list of people I know, all saved in my Blackberry,
And now at Christmas time I have gone to take a look.
And that is when I realize that these names are a part,
Not of the Blackberry they're stored in, but of my heart.
For each name stands for someone who has crossed my path here sometime, And in that meeting they've become the rhythm in each rhyme.
And while it sounds fantastic for me to make this claim, I feel that I'm composed of each remembered name.
And while you may not be aware of any special link, Just meeting you has changed my life, a lot more than you think!
For when I do this message that is especially to you,
It's because you're on the list of people I'm indebted to.
And whether I have known you for many years or few, In some way you have been a part of shaping things I do.
And now that Christmas has come, I realize anew, The best gift life can offer is meeting people like you.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

MERRY CHRISTMASAwwww! Thanks, Bill! What a great poem!
Claudette, that's what I like about low carb. You can eat anything as long as you count it and stay within your limits.
Amy, I'm glad you're holding down the fort. If you start thinking that food will help, call Bill. :D He'll tell you what's what and I know you're tired of listening to me!
Monty, I'm glad your knee is feeling better. Don't overdo the exercise!
Hi, Randy!
I had some spinach in phyllo today for lunch that probably didn't do my carb count any good. I also had more fruit than I should have, mostly because I'm frugal. DS made a compote and then didn't like it because he put grapefruit (a rather sour one) in the mix. I decided to have a half-cup or so every day until it gets too yucky, just to keep from wasting it. I forgot and used frozen strawbs in my shake this morning. One or the other, Carol!
One (1) more gift to buy for the holiday season. Pretty good, eh? I wimped out and got my mom a massage gift certificate. She's 86 and doesn't need any more "things". I want a necklace for my sister now and I can rest.
