Ahem.... am I the only one M&S so far this week :suspicious:?

Yes, I do know the week has just started but it's not going to stop and wait for you to catch up ;) so let's get going, gang!

You're not going to end the year with a bang if you're just slugging through the week  !

This was posted before you started the new thread so ahem, where were you prior to 9:57 today ???

Good morning Dear Shadow and to all of your other cubbies who would dare venture into your lair today.
I have to report some exercise over the last few days such as moderate elliptical wo, and 2 resistance type wo. These were not done out of the fear of your wrath:eek: but because of disgust with my sluggishness and overeating for the last few days. I know you will take any exercise from your faithful for any reason , positive or negative.:D
Have a wonderful day.

Hi everybody, my pain is easing up some. So it probably won't be long til I restart. My PT Toni told me the bands will cause less stress on the joints and damaged tissue than using free weights. And that, basically I'll see the same results.

Glad to hear you're starting to feel better. I would have to agree with Toni, the bands should be better than free weights as far joint stress etc. More of a steady resistance than having to overcome the inertia of heavy weights to get them moving. (I hope that makes sense) There's quite a bit you can do with them too. Make sure to regularly check the knots where they join the handles, if you have that type, you don't want one to come undone and smack you anywhere. (and yes, as usual I am speaking from experience :o)

I'm off to the gym now to get a quick workout in before getting dinner organized for company tonight.

Don't worry Shadow, quick doesn't mean I'll take it easy, just less rest time between exercises. :)

Uh ... my dearest Monty.... I started this thread yesterday (Saturday) so I don't know where YOU were . As for today at 9:57 your time.... Well, at 3:30 a.m. MST I got out of bed. At 5:00 a.m. MST I was exercising (the late exercise start was because I tried to go shopping and my car wouldn't start, etc). At 7:00 a.m. MST I was eating breakfast and at 8:00 a.m. MST I was out taking a nice long walk. How's that :p?

Good morning Dear Shadow and to all of your other cubbies who would dare venture into your lair today.
And now that we're here together on the same day, good morning to you too, dear Monty :)!

These were not done out of the fear of your wrath but because of disgust with my sluggishness and overeating for the last few days.
That can easily happen this time of year ! BUT the important thing is that you stopped it rather than letting it snowball. Way to go, Monty :D!
I know you will take any exercise from your faithful for any reason , positive or negative.
Definitely !!!!!
Have a wonderful day.
You too :)!

Today I have a tentative date with my son to go to the gym. :)

Yesterdays workout was a good one, I can certainly feel it today! Obviously I need to work my sister and I harder..... She'll be thrilled to hear that. She's doing quite well, never whines about what I make her do, gives it her best (except planks, she whimps out a bit there, but so did I when I was 50lbs heavier) and has lost 15lbs so far. And we have been increasing our weights pretty steadily. :)

Amy I know that bloated feeling... Keep taking those stairs and suck back a whole bunch of water.

Monty, glad you're back working out but as Shadow mentioned, don't push that knee too hard.

Carol, did you get a workout in with your son?

Claudette, Gwennie looks pretty small, maybe you can carry her on a walk or two till she feels better (which won't be long, dogs seem to ignore these things pretty much), might be a good workout for you!

Shadow you might get a kick out of this; at my family's white elephant gift exchange I ended up with a set of those twisting handle things for doing pushups! My brother in law wanted to do a trade but I decided to keep them.

Upper body at a slight weight reduction and fifteen minutes on the arc trainer. Oh, five on the rower as well. :)

Good afternoon everybody

I did some light stretching this morning before breakfast. I was puzzled to find that every muscle of my body was sore. As if I had went through a strenuous workout yesterday, which I hadn't. I don't understand why they are so sore. Its only on exertion of any degree that they feel sore. Strange. With some of the problems I have, I'm giving it one more day then calling the doctor. Anybody have any experience like this?

I get achy when I don't exercise which is probably the only reason I'm as dedicated as I am ;). But if that's not something that usually happens to you, then I definitely think calling the doc is a good idea.

I need to try to get in here earlier. I've just been so busy with my grandkids while they're off for holliday season. They came today early and brought their Wii game. I'm having a ball just watching them play. I bowled a few games. Does that count as exercise. Well at least for my right arm.

No exercise yesterday - today resistance and a "ride in the park" on the bike. I agree with Amy that the bike puts a strain on the knees and hips when used with higher resistance settings. strangely the elliptical does not even though it is more difficult.
This was posted with Carol on challenges- weigh in will be on Sat 2nd. have to admit to some apprehension. Since first reading the "30 day" PP book in April 2009, I dropped from 196/197 to 192 with no real commitment to the program. When the 6w book came out (sept) , jumped into it and last weigh-in (NOV) showed 182. Not upto my expectations  but because of this forum, am hanging in there for the long haul.

I should like to echo bpm's sentiments about your role here. I know that I haven't been the best when it comes to exercise, but that was largely because I didn't understand what to do, but now I have found those videos, so things should start to look up here.

Met DS at the gym for a lower body wo today. She figures she can now fit three workouts a week in so we can do a split. Tues. will be upper body then back to lower on Thur. etc. We'll be doing each muscle group every 4 days this way and can work each area out a bit harder. :D I can still feel the pushups (on an inverted bosu ball, great exercise!) I did last Thur. so lower body was a good way to go today.

So I'll plan some "fun" stuff for Tues. I will be away this Thur. so will do a workout at the gym in the hotel we'll be at. Sis has said she will get to the gym here while I'm gone. She missed two workouts while she was away so she better.....:peeved:

Tues. will be upper body then back to lower on Thur. etc. We'll be doing each muscle group every 4 days this way and can work each area out a bit harder. :D
That makes me - and hopefully both of you ;) - very happy !
I can still feel the pushups (on an inverted bosu ball, great exercise!) I did last Thur. so lower body was a good way to go today.
Great job on those pushups !

So I'll plan some "fun" stuff for Tues.
Fun keeps us motivated, for sure! If it's all work, it's easy to lose interest pretty quick, IMHO :slywink:.
I will be away this Thur. so will do a workout at the gym in the hotel we'll be at. Sis has said she will get to the gym here while I'm gone. She missed two workouts while she was away so she better.....:peeved:
I'm pretty sure she's not going to want to have to confess to you that she missed it, so.... you should both be good to go !
