The journey never ends, ;) but lets have a summary today. Where were you then and where are you now? Did your attention to detail make the holidays easier to handle?

Sipping coffee right now, but I think I'll make a good brunch of eggs and bacon, have a meal of chicken-sausage casserole mid-afternoon and plan protein and vegetables at the two parties I'll have tonight. The first one is a sure thing, the second one, with the musicians, will require me to bring my own just to be sure.

Lots of errands to run today! See you later... :)

Up early and in to work so I can get bunch done...only to come in to a computer virus and haven't been able to do anything but scan my computer.
sucky...

I travel to Iowa again this afternoon. My entire family is getting together again since 8 of us couldn't make it last weekend. Should be a house FULL of people and noise. I love it.
And GF is staying home, which is probably best cause she's getting a cold and she hates noise!

7am brat wrap, 3hb eggs
11am chipotle with chix, blk beans, s.cream, cheese, lettuce, guac
3pm iced coffee, dbl cheeseburger 1/2 bun
8pm summer sausage, cheese, chili, roasted pecans

weird food today, but I'll do what I can to avoid the carbs. Lunch is a "gift" from someone who won 10 meals at chipotle and supper is the celebration in Iowa.
Have a happy new year all. I'm not bringing my computer, so I'll check back in on Saturday. But I am VERY MUCH looking forward to getting back to the basics!

Hi, Y'all,
Just a second to post, in a busy clinic today.

Home internet on the fritz, sometimes that is so annoying to get the ISP to fix it.

Ammy, have fun, we will miss you.

Carol, be careful today on your errands.
I think my attention to detail did make the hollidays easier to handle.
Though, I am up 7 lbs from last year, I am headed in the right direction now, also ready to get back to basics.

When I get home, going to friends house. I am bringing raw veggies and a spinach dip, so with the ham they have, I ought to do just fine.

Menu:
B-eggs, ham, coffee
L-dreamfield's mac n cheese, beets, raw veggies
S-kroger sf yogurt
D-ham, crudites, diet drinks.

Have a Happy New Year's Eve, all.

Hi All,
by Carol The journey never ends, ;) but lets have a summary today. Where were you then and where are you now? Did your attention to detail make the holidays easier to handle?

haven't posted here for a while but am on track since the 26th. weigh in will be on Sat 2nd. have to admit to some apprehension. Since first reading the "30 day" PP book in April 2009, I dropped from 196/197 to 192 with no real commitment to the program. When the 6w book came out (sept) , jumped into it and last weigh-in (NOV) showed 182. Not upto my expectations  but because of this forum, am hanging in there for the long haul.

B shake- just ordered some more almond breeze and will try a davinci thingie as advised. Thanks, Carol
L bacon and eggs
S- before party- ham and cheese cubes
D- ?? usually meatballs, sausages and dippy veggies. one downfall is the crab dip but, not to worry as DW is making it this year with cream cheese.
Cocktail and wine- no beer- I should be well under 40 ecc for the day and wont even miss the heavy stuff.

Needlewoman pokes her nose in for the first time.

I hit rock bottom towards the end of July, then fortunately spotted a low carb reference in a signature on an unrelated forum. I started to research and found PP by September, and I haven't really looked back, despite a few little slip ups. I have lost nearly a quarter of what I need to lose. More importantly, I feel heaps better in myself. I think I was losing my self respect, and it is coming back by leaps and bounds.

Looking back is sometimes helpful, especially if you're starting to get discouraged. Its kind of like looking back in the rear view mirror and realizing you've been driving uphill for the last few miles.

Started LC on 3/11/2009 with triglyceride levels of 344 (the main reason I started LC was to lower triglycerides). I was also on niacin and fish oil. I weighed somewhere around 248 (I hadn't weighed myself since hitting the high of 248 earlier in the year). By the end of April my triglycerides had fallen to 105, and my weight was 231 when I visited the doctor in mid-April. I had finally found something that worked. And I wasn't hungry.

I tried eliminating niacin in October, but found my triglycerides rising to 170 within 6 weeks. Fasting blood sugar was good. So I'm back to the original plan, 1500mg niacin, 1600mg EPA/DHA in fish oil, and a LC lifestyle. (Niacin tends to raise fasting blood sugar levels, so the final ingredient is exercise, which I loathe).

Still losing weight, but slowly compared to the initial drop. I won't know my real comparative weight until I go back to work (I always weigh in my work clothes). But not in my work clothes it looks like I may have broken the 210 barrier. Good thing I got that cold and didn't feel like eating all the holiday junk!

Our CRT TV finally died, and we bought a new one. It doesn't fit in the entertainment center, so I'm re-building it, and that is keeping me busy this week. I've been able to avoid the usual pitfalls of the holidays so far, and we're almost through them.

All in all, I would say it has been a good year. Finding a good community of people with whom to discuss (or debate and argue) the LC lifestyle has been a big part of that for me. So as 2009 vanishes behind us to blur with all those other years, I want to thank you all.

Happy New Year's Eve!

I've been AWOL for the last couple of weeks. Not keeping a food log, and exercising only a couple times a week. Not good.:(

I checked my weight & exercise journal and find I'm up 2 pounds for the year, but that doesn't tell the whole story. In reality I've lost 10 pounds and gained back 12.

Today I've been cleaning house and cleaning out the refrigerator and the cupboards. The holidays are officially over tomorrow so it's back on plan. I'm toying with the idea of doing the 6WCure with the shakes. Unfortunately, I have a fondness for real food and it's harder to drink cold shakes when it's cold outside, so it will likely be just basic PP and back to the gym.

We're all looking forward to a great year in 2010, right?

Party safely tonight.

Karen

Hi everbody

We're about ready to start another year.
Where have I been and where am I now. I've realIy not thought much about it. But I quess I have made good progess. I restarted on the 1st of June at 350 pounds and at my last weigh-in at the beginning of December I was down to 288. A loss of 62 pounds. Its almost time for my next weigh-in and I'm sure I'll be under the 288. I am planning no changes. I've had good success with what I've been doing. And in my opinion, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it!'

Nothing planned for this evening. Doy and I always stay in on New Years Eve. Neither of us are big on drinking. We'll just enjoy our annual mug of Diet Hires Rootbeer and a couple good movies. Watch the ball descend at Times Square on TV then to bed.

I haven't been doing much exercise just a little stretching in the morning. Food is my usual Thursday menu.

Breakfast- 2 whole eggs, 4 whites, 2 Esskay's turkey bacon, 70gms blackberries, 2c green tea.
40gms protein, 8gms carbs.

Lunch- 2 roast beef rollups; 4ozs deli roast beef, 2ozs deli swiss cheese, 2 red leaf lettuce leafs, 1T chipotle mayonnaise, 1 med peach(3-1/2ozs), 2c green tea
42gms protein, 9gms carbs.

Supper- 5oz grilled burger; 1oz cheddar cheese; tomato, onion & basil salad, (1 med(5.2ozs) tomato, 1/4c onion, 1T fresh chopped basil); olive oil & taragon vinegar dressing, 2c green tea
42gms protein, 8gms carbs.

Evening Snack 12oz mug of diet Hires Rootbeer.

Half day at work, a trip to the gym and now relaxing for a bit before dinner and wandering up the road for drinks with the neighbors.

The holiday season was bumpier than I had expected, but at least it's almost over!

Looking back its been a pretty successful year as far as my weight, fitness and health are concerned. On the 7th of January it will be the one year anniversay of my getting on the scale (:eek::eek:) and just about slapping myself for having gained so much weight back. I think I will do a more thorough review of the year next week when I hit the one year mark. I've been pondering some things I need to work on etc.

As several people have mentioned, this forum has certainly been a very positive experience and has helped me get through some of the low (mentally I mean) points. Fortunately with LC there really aren't very many of those. Thanks to everyone here for all the support, wacky Wednesdays and wealth of knowledge you've shared. (a special thank you to all the moderators for the time and energy you put into cheering us all on) :)

Happy New Year!

Jilly
