History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again.
Maya Angelou
We come from different parts of the world and different backgrounds. We’re each here for our own reasons, but we have lots in common. :) It may just be the quest for improved health. Any change takes courage.
Happy Friday, everyone!
Breakfast will be a strawberry shake. Lunch will be sausage patties and a piece of fruit. Dinner will be baked chicken with mushrooms.

TGIF!
Great quote, thank goodness we can learn from history, face the new ahead with courage and don't necessisarily have to repeat any part of it.
Today, I am in a quiet, steady clinic.
Streets are dry, still very cold for Texas, 18 degrees today, but no moisture to contend with. :)
Scale moved to where my ticker is set today ! Down 3 lbs!
First day I am finally feeling better, still coughing, but, feel alot better. More rest this weekend, will start adding exercise again.
Our only son, d-t-r in law, 4 month old grandaughter coming for a week visit next Monday! Got to be ready for that! So excited!
Have a great Friday, all.

Good morning, everyone--
I'm off to a good start today. I managed to sleep in my bed for six hours last night. Getting up, taking a shower, and doing a normal morning routine felt good--the first time since September. Now I'm back in my recliner, getting ready to get my lesson plans written.
Food for today:
B--sausage links, cottage cheese
L--Flatout pizza
D--Chili
snacks--either a coconut muffin, some raw veggies, or some Greek yogurt w/coconut added, maybe a protein shake
The schools here today have a 2-hr delay because of our couple of inches of snow last night. Looks cold and windy. It's nice to be staying in.
Have a good day, everyone. Claudette, enjoy your family time.

My primary plan for today is to stay warm. It was cold this morning and tonight is supposed to be worse. Wind chill right now is 10. Brrrr! Unfortunately, yesterday's effort to stay warm included too many hot drinks with a few carbs each. Hot chocolate only has 5 ECC, great for a one-time treat, but I drank 4.
So today, it was was LC hot cereal for brekkie, will be chili for lunch with a side of cooked greens, apple for snack, and chicken vegetable soup for supper. Hot beverages will be coffee with cream, decaf herbal tea, and one cup of hot chocolate. That should get me to 75 protein and around 55 ECC.
Have a great day, folks and stay warm. :)

We're drinking a lot of hot drinks too BC, tho I am trying to stay with only coffee or tea, I did fix myself one cup of cocoa yesterday. It sure was good. I added a spoon of coconut oil and that dressed it up nicely.
Down to 5 here last night and has risen all the way to 12 already. Wow. A heat wave. I can't wait to get thru these next few days to when it is supposed to warm up all the way into the 30's !!!
Take care--good quote again Carol. That woman has a lot of good quote material doesn't she.

Congrats on the drop, Claudette. Glad you're making progress with the illness. The cough is usually the last thing to go, isn't it?
I'm off to a good start today. I managed to sleep in my bed for six hours last night. Good for you, Ruth! Is your rest better in the bed?

Hot chocolate only has 5 ECC, great for a one-time treat, but I drank 4. Been there, done that, BC. My newest decaf hot drink is almond milk. Two ecc in 8 oz. Flavor it with whatever. I use a large, insulated driving mug that keeps it hot longer and I find I drink less.
We were in the twenties this morning, but it's better than S. Dakota, eh? I am more concerned with driving on ice. I tiptoe (figuratively), but it is just as hazardous to be too slow in traffic. :paranoid:

Hi all...
may i join your january challenge? i've done PPLP in the past and feel best eating in a paleo kinda way. I was very good between Thanksgiving and the week of Christmas, but am back up to where I started.
I put on about 35 lbs this last year and this year my goal is to get rid of it.
So for today, January 8th, my food is/was thus:
Breakfast: 1/5 of a crustless quiche (pizza style w/ mozzarella and pepperoni) and a venti americano w/ a couple oz 1/2 & 1/2
Lunch: A couple cups of homemade mexi-chicken soup (delish! leftover shredded chicken w/tomato, carrots, celery, mushrooms, onion, garlic, a splash of white wine and seasoning.)
Dinner: Probably the remainder of the soup before my bf gets home from work.
Dessert: a serving of the coconut bliss chocolate hazelnut ice cream. (ok, this is a more paleo/primal "ice cream" but still probably not eades-approved. i'm a major MAJOR ice creamaholic though and it gets me through.)
I'll find a ticker and get started on tracking that progress.
I'm also committing to walk/run the Oakland Half Marathon at the end of March (I did a half last April) so this weekend I need to walk a couple miles to get started.

I actually went out and bought a winter coat. I tend to avoid much of winter and realized that I cannot put it off any longer and have to accept it. ;-)
B: Shake and a tangerine
Snack: 3 boiled eggs
L: 8 oz beef patties, cheese
D: CHicken and salad.

Thanks for posting the numbers Ammy. I definitely need to pull up my socks as well since I have my bloodwork done next month and also had a carbier time over teh past few months, although it didn't go berserk until closer to Christmas.

Just to keep up my challenge: protein: 85 ecc 28 and calories 1780--but that is subject to change as I may have a glass of red wine a bit later on tonight. But I have plenty of room for it in my ecc amount.

Did your therapist say you could get back into the exercise, Bill? Oh, and do you think Doy would leave you and come and cook for me? ;) How are her ribs?
I made it through the day without a meltdown. Next week looks like it might be better.

Hello all! I would like to join you in this challenge if that is still possible. I am new to PP and have sort of stumbled my way through this week. I just finished reading the book yesterday and have been spent a lot of time scouring the boards for good recipes. I've been off work the last two days with the weather and not feeling so great with cold/sinus stuff going on.
I am a major carb addict and this is the first diet I have tried that actually seems to make me see food differently. Not to be interested in food is such a foreign idea to me that I can hardly believe it.
I've not kept an overall count for the day, but stayed within my target of 20 Protein/meal and 10 ECC/meal.

Yes, Brr. We are not used to being in the teens in this part of Texas. Can't wait for summer! :)
Mock apple cider also is a good hot drink. I use Walmart's brand of apple drink mix and mix it with simmered cider spices. A bit too sweet, but really good.
