Life is a process. We are a process. The universe is a process.
Anne Wilson Schaef

See? We made it through a week! Are you satisfied with your process? What was your finest moment?

Brunch will be bacon and eggs. Afternoon meal will be beef and vegetables. Evening snack will be blueberries and cream or coconut milk.

Great quote again, Carol. A friend of mine has a banner with a river and a coracle (round boat without oars) that states "Trust the Process". A good way to live life.

It is very cold here this morning -- 12F. But is supposed to be sunny and little wind, so the house will warm up fast as soon as the sun begins pouring in the windows. Not having double glazed windows is a mixed blessing: house warms up nicely during the day but really loses heat at night. I've ordered storm windows to help rectify the night loss.

Plan for today is pretty much like yesterday: hot LC cereal this morning, chili with some kind of cooked veggie for lunch, LC yogurt for snack, and chicken soup/stew for supper. Perhaps a half Cara Cara orange somewhere in there. They are a new discovery for me, and very delicious. And half is plenty.

Have a great day folks, and keep warm (except Malcome -- you keep cool down under!).

Good morning to all. Carol, I love your quotes - very inspiring!

Plan for today is scrambled eggs and coffee for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch & I just finished putting mexican beef in the crockpot for supper tonight.

Tonight will be an extreme challenge for me since we are hosting a family get together for my son's birthday. We are having pizza, cake & ice cream - all major favorites of mine. I'm going to focus on protein and try to keep all carbs as low as possible throughout the day. I'm thinking that will get me into deeper ketosis and help me out with any cravings. Is that reasonable thinking or not?

In general I am trying to focus more on my water consumption since that has always been a struggle for me.

Just a quick check-in before I get busy.

We're off to get a new table for the dining room, and I'll be going out for dinner with a friend, so I may not sit back down for a while.

I had sausage/cottage cheese for breakfast. Since my friend and I are eating mid-afternoon, I'll probably just wait. I plan to have salad bar and a steak at the restaurant. We have a birthday party this evening; I assume it'll be the ever-present pizza, so I plan to ignore it. Then I'll have something light when I get home.

Happy weekend, all.

A friend of mine has a banner with a river and a coracle (round boat without oars) that states "Trust the Process". A good way to live life.I like the mental image. It works both ways, though. When I realized the process I was following was the one that would deliver me to disability, I was able to jump out. My analogy was a train then--equally inevitable!
I'm going to focus on protein and try to keep all carbs as low as possible throughout the day. I'm thinking that will get me into deeper ketosis and help me out with any cravings. Is that reasonable thinking or not?You might familiarize yourself with the carb counts of your usual food choices to help your estimates if you're not going to write everything down. It's so easy for the serving sizes to creep up without a red flag to you. Also, I think there's more to cravings than ketosis, Michelle. I know that if I stick to protein, fat, vegetables and fruit I have no cravings. If I have a stressful situation, I can still get cravings even if I'm not hungry.

No time to chat, but wanted to report that I'm still low carbing.
My weight was UP .5lb today, not very happy about that, but I was also SUPER hungry yesterday and ate 1/2 a lower carb protein bar (1/2 was 10ecc). Not sure if the fake sugars or the shock of the ingredients affected me, or if the increase was just a natural fluxuation, but I'm still here and I'm still queer (oh, sorry, wrong forum ) and I'm still low carbing!!

Off to my FINAL meeting as a board member...I'm very very very ready for a break.

Chat later!

My plans for the weekend is to just stay focused. I've done great all week, and plan to do great this weekend. I am very pleased with myself as of now. I have had many temptations, but have passed them all up. My 1st weigh in will be Monday, I'm hoping for a good loss.

One thing I guess I am trying to do over the weekend is to get plenty to drink. I always have a problem doing that on the weekends, so bottoms up:tongue:

Did well at the restaurant tonight--just splurged a bit on the lime chipotle topping on the chicken and the salad dressing. Other than that, it was just salad veggies and garlic green beans. I skipped the pizza party and am now home chilling out.

Saturday 1/9/10

I was up way to early this morning. I did some light stretching, had breakfast, sat back to read the morning paper and promptly dozed off. I woke up about an hour later with a distinct crink in my neck probably due to the odd positioning of my neck. More stretching was called for.

It must have been visit Bill and Doy day among our friends. We had several visits from friends we hadn't seen in a while. We had an enjoyable late morning and afternoon with our friends. I spent from 4:00 pm till about 7:15 pm trying to teach my neighbor how to fingerpick an old late 50's song by Jimmy Rogers called 'Freight Train'. What a chore he just wasn't getting it!

Now its finally some quiet time with Doy in front of the TV. We rented a couple Thai movies from NETFLIX.

I got all my water in for the day. Meals will be:

Breakfast- 2 eggs, 4 whites, 3 Esskay turkey bacon, 105gms strawberries, 2c green tea.
43gms protein, 10gms carbs.

Lunch- 4oz grilled sirloin pork chop; broccoli salad(broccoli florets, onion, bacon, pecans, dressed w/mayo, vinegar, Splenda and celery seed), 2c green tea.
49gms protein, 8gms carbs.

Supper- 5oz grilled steak, steamed broccoli/cauliflower, 2c green tea.
40gms protein, 11gms carbs.

Do you do that in the key of C, Bill? Hope you and Doy had a pleasant, quiet evening after all that excitement.

I was going to do a whole list of things today, but I took a few hours off to walk in the woods with my son. The snow was anywhere from mid-calf to just below the knee. I had an hour and a half workout. Sun was shining and the temp was about 30F. Too good to resist! :)

WAY TO GO RnR!!!

Well, I'm up early today and a bit crabby. Scale is up AGAIN.
I am eating on plan. Not quite sure what is happening...well I have a small guess.

I am very stressed. I am up at 7am on a Sunday because I can't slow down my brain. Sooo much going on at work and closing my term on the board, and my vacation next week. Stress can stop you from losing weight...right??

Stress can stop you from losing weight...right??Oh, I HATE when that happens! :( I had one of them this week. Stress=cortisol and it can cause all varieties of physical problems, aside from the emotional ones. Meditation helps. Pondering what impact these few days will have on the world a hundred years from now, may help put it in perspective. ;) Are you, by any chance, a perfectionist?

Where are you going on vacation?

I've been working on this Sunday. I haven't tried going back to church Sunday morning because it's quite crowded and navigating with the walker would be kind of difficult. I do plan to go tonight--much more laid back and casual. So I spent the morning prepping to teach The Odyssey when I get back to school--a new study guide and a new translation for me.

Then I worked on getting my kitchen back in shape so I can use it; my husband's been doing a marvelous job of heating things up and keeping groceries in the refrigerator, but he doesn't cook.

I also tried pancakes made with coconut flour. There are quite a few recipes out there, but I found one on Sparkpeople that I thought would work. It was pretty good. This afternoon I plan to make some meat loaf for my husband and some pumpkin sausage soup for me. That should keep me going for a bit. I find that I can only handle being up and around in the kitchen for about 45 minutes--still need to work on having enough stamina to do my three-hour marathons.

Have a blessed Sunday, everyone! Amy, I'm a quasi-perfectionist, so I know what happens when you overcommit. Get some rest after you finish your grocery shopping.

Ruth, I hope you get everything back into order in your kitchen. DH's, they try real hard - just love 'em!!!

Amy, I have those nights a lot. I found out, you should try and count backwards from 300 - in threes. So boring, but, after going on my second 300, it worked for me.:D If it works - I'll keep doing it. Gee, another vacation, can you spare me one of those???;)

Today, has been a great day. I got a break from DH being around. He's over at his mothers house trying to get her car started. Nice to have some private time.

Lots of house work to get done today. LC eating is on track.

BF: lc german pancake, 1/2 c. blueberries, 2 TBSP. whipped cream, 1 cup of cofffee w/ lc DaVinci syrup

Lunch: chicken breast baked in cream of chicken soup, green beans w/bacon and onion

Dinner: Hamburger patty, cottage cheese

Snack: SF strawberry jello, lc peaches, whipped cream.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Missed you all yesterday.

Power was out in our house and neighborhood from early am to late last night. Wrapped doggie in blankets, sat by fire, read by flashlight!
It was pretty cold for North Texas.

Went out to eat at dh's fav restaurant, sucumbed to 1/4th of his desert.
Up 3 lbs from Friday, we all know what caused that don't we?
Carbage bloat!

Carol, great quote.

Ruth, pancakes sound great. Going to have to locate that recipe.

Ammy, hang in there, the scale will move.

Welcome, cemays.

Randy, great job with the Christmas cake! I admire your control.

Karole, Sheilia, Monty, hope my scale is down on Monday.

Bronchitis is better, did a 18 min aerobic/toning tape, whew, but made it.

Getting ready for son, dtr in law, grandbaby to come tomarrow for a week to celebrate belated Christmas! I am so excited!

Have a great day, all.

Now I'm laying here with my laptop and some movies while she watches the Packers lose, er I mean PLAY.

[QUOTE=Ammy;101888]Do I LOOK like I have time for my back to go out??

Sorry to hear about your back Amy. Isn't that how it always happens though, you're busier than all get out and you blow your back or your knee or whatever your particular nemesis is. I hope its better soon.

My sore thoat is finally gone and I actually slept through the night last night for the first time since last Sunday. Of course the wine I drank last night may have helped. ;) Our mini trip away was good, except for some rain, and although I ate some really big dinners I ate very light during the days so no damage showing on the scale. (yet?) I took several HB eggs, smokies, cheese pieces and pecans with me, definitely my saving grace. :)

Had my aunt and uncle over for dinner last night, served tuna and scallop tartar with an avocado/wasabi emulsion and prawns wrapped in proscuitto then fried in coconut oil for appies, roast duck, baked squash, carrots, zucchini and beets for dinner followed by SF chocolate mousse with raspberry couli for desert. All very tasty and decadent, all LC. :D
LC does not equal boring. And it was certainly no more effort than it would have been to do a high carb version of the same dinner. No cooking tonight though.

Met my sister at the gym again today, we've got a pretty good schedule going now.

So sorry to hear about the back problem Ammy !! I've had enough episodes of that stuff to last forever so hate to know you are going through it now.

I had a fun day... we went out to eat Chinese for lunch then to the movie and saw Avatar...which was much better than I expected it to be...also didn't realize it was 3-D until we got there. It was very nice and we both enjoyed it. Then we went grocery shopping and after that decided we were both starving so we went to Hardees for a low carb burger. Wow, no cooking except for breakfast --what a day !!!

I just reported in to Shadow that I did no exercise for the day---that took the bloom off the rose !!

(((Amy)))--hope it gets better soon. Please tell me you're not a Packers fan! Or is it just that the Vikings aren't playing until next week? Did I ever mention my childhood in the Dakotas and Minnesota?

Well--I got the meatloaf done for my husband (definitely not carb-friendly, but his favorite recipe). He doesn't need to lose weight and the carbs don't apparently bother him. I didn't get my soup made, but I'll do that tomorrow. The coconut flour pancakes filled me up so much I wasn't hungry until late this afternoon, so I grilled a hamburger and made a patty melt on LC bread. Then I finished off my lemon cheesecake when I got home from church.

After being up out of my chair since 3:00, by 8:00, I was about ready to crawl to my recliner. I know the stamina will come back--can't be soon enough for me.

Claudette--Here's the link to the recipe. I used coconut oil and Calorie Countdown milk instead of light butter and fat-free half and half.

Enjoy the time with your family! It's so precious...

Karole--"that took the bloom off the rose"--cracked me up :)

Get a good night's sleep, everyone--Monday's coming.

It has been a successful weekend! I avoided all temptation surrounding my son's birthday party including cake, ice cream and Texas Roadhouse hot rolls! This is almost unfathomable to me. For the first time in my life I feel like a normal person when it comes to food. I love being accountable to all of you because it just adds a little extra incentive for being good.

Breakfast - Scrambled Eggs/Sausage
Lunch - Grilled Salmon, side Caeser Salad & Green Beans (Texas Roadhouse)
Supper - not hungry at all so I had a Cappucinno Blast Protein Shake (wow-that was good!)

Amy, I really hope your back is feeling better soon. I know how miserable that can be.

Good night to all. Have a great day tomorrow!

(((Amy!))) That sure puts a kink in your week! :jawDrop: Nice of GF to make your goulash--bless her heart.

Ruth, I'm listening to you getting stronger! :)

Sharon, it's nice you had some "alone time" today.

Claudette, we missed you too! I've been hearing about your weather. I'm glad you're feeling better.

Jilly, I'm glad your sore throat is getting better, too. I'm impressed by your low carb feast! Sounds delicious!

Karole, way to get through without cooking today! Hope you've got an excuse for Shadow! :paranoid:

Today was church, grandson, chores and company. The babe is upstairs asleep, the company has gone, chores are mostly done and I'm going to call it a night.

Wow! Where did this weekend go? Weather was great yesterday so I spent 3 hours working in the garden/ yard. Spread 4 wheelbarrows of dirt and made another frame for a "lasagna" garden. Now to find the organic materials to layer it -- a bit dicey in the winter. Although I did see a vacant lot in town that has lots of green weeds -- might take the lawnmower there and bag some today.

This was the best weekend in over a month as far as eating. Thanks to being on this challenge. Saturday ended up 78 protein, 65 ECC, and Sunday was 64 protein (a tad low) and 80 ECC (a tad high but good considering I ate out). Scale has not budged but at least it isn't heading north.
