It's easy to say ''no!'' when there's a deeper ''yes!'' burning inside.
Stephen R. Covey
Why are you here? Are you going to let a moment of gratification sidetrack your journey? Keep your focus!
Breakfast will be the usual protein shake. Lunch will be a baked sausage square. Dinner will be farm-fresh eggs and cheese in a flatout wrap.
Have a wonderful day!
I have really been fighting the "carbs will make my back better" thoughts...
Yes, I know that's completely inaccurate, but I am an addict and am constantly looking for excuses :o
However, I have been eating SPOT-ON and am still gaining 1/2lb per day.
I'm up to 220.5. ????
I admit I'm confused, but not frustrated or ready to give up. I just do what I need to do and everything will fall into place.
My back is still sore. I am moving and can even bend, although I put my hand on the counter when I do bend so that my back isn't doing all the work.
Today I get a massage from a guy at my chiropractors office, then an adjustment. That should help immensely...AND I got my doctor to write a prescription for the massage so I can use my Section 125 money (pre tax dollars). All good things.
7:30am brat wrap, 2hb eggs
11a big salad with chix or meatballs (depends where I get the salad)
3p cheese, iced coffee
6pm dbl burger with cheese/mayo and lettuce wedge

Carol, yet another great quote.
Amy, guess it's one of those things. I haven't seen the scale dropping as it normally does, either, so I'm just sticking with it because I know it eventually works.
Glad to see you this morning, Bill.
This will be kind of a quiet day--time to get some cooking done (I think I said that yesterday but only got part of it done).
Breakfast--coconut muffin and Greek yogurt
Lunch--pumpkin soup
Supper--pattie melt
Snack--veggies w/ guacamole dip
Exericise--"Sit and Be Fit" video
Brain food--reading more of a different translation of The Odyssey.
Have a superb day!

It does ... but much less often now.
Yesterday I got my first major walk in. I rarely do outdoor things when it is really cold, but the breaks had been going and yesterday they began locking up. I had arranged an appointment but they came on while driving at lunch and I ended up dropping the car off early and walking 45 minutes to work. No small accomplishment since I really hate the cold.
Today was a premade shake for breakfast and one for a snack later.

Hi, ya'll,
Great quote, Carol. I still have trouble sometimes saying no, but less frequently than I used to.
Ammy, hang in there. Sometimes I have found when I ventured into the carbage land, then got back on plan, it took a few days for my body to re-adjust.
Bill, great you stretch in the am.
Ruth, your veggies and quacomole dip sounds great.
Randy, wow, walking 45 minutes to work. I admire you!
Kids and grandkid came in late last night. I will admit to eating a few french fries  .
We grandparents watched the grandaughter last night; hardly slept. Kept waking up and looking to see she was ok, hubby, too.
Pretty sleepy today, but will be on track.
Hoping to go home early to be with the kids today, I have the rest of the week off after today.:)
Have a great day, all.

Keeping on track!
BF: lc crepe with strawberries and whipped cream
Lunch: steak w/dreamfield's penne
Dinner: chicken or pork - doing something with it - not sure what yet
The snow is so bright with the sunshine on it. I hate to see it melt and bring on all the slush. But, at least it is a little nicer to be outside.
Having a great day - hope yours is too!

Yowza! :D ;) You used to the winter camper! I thought you liked it.

Another quiet day here also. I really should try to get something done around the house with all this time off..... It's not actually pouring rain at the moment, I should go for a walk or something too.
I don't find I'm tempted by a lot of carby stuff, except liquids ;). Now that the holiday season and our mini trip is over I should have less trouble with that. I am trying to reduce the amount of splenda I use so made a type of tea this morning I can drink without sweetening. I don't like it as much as my usual chai or earl grey but I want to reduce the amount of carbs I have to account for from splenda so I can get more veg in. This is a tough one for me though, I drink a lot of tea, especially when I'm not working and kicking around the house most of the day.
Today will be the usual breakfast, tea without splenda, chicken and cauli for lunch and probably meatloaf and salad for dinner. I"ll put some numbers up later, I've been slacking off that lately.
Amy I hope that massage helps. :)
Jilly
Just got back from the massage. It was nice and I told her to focus solely on my low back.
I am moving, but it's still a bit sore.
However, now I'm going to try just Ibuprofen and no muscles relaxers..they make me so loopy!

Jilly have you tried using green tea and adding a dab of cinnamon. I can drink that all the time and not need splenda. It is also beneficial for blood sugar so it is good for us !! You might see if you like it and reduce the splenda that way. Good luck.
Great quote again Carol-- a good way of reminding us we have to decide what is most important to us.
Sunny and in the 30's today so we are enjoying it. And have planned a horseback ride for tomorrow with some friends. It is supposed to hit the mid forties so if we dress properly we will do fine.
I did remember to weigh myself this morning and was pleased to see I was down 4 lbs from the 1st of Jan. It was water I'm sure , but at least it is gone and I'm grateful. I never did change my ticker--to lazy but if I stay the same next week I will do so.

Jilly I just thought--the cinnamon will have a dab of carbs too so maybe you won't want to use it after all. Sorry.

Good afternoon all!
Yesterday was pretty good... I too have to confess that I ate a single solitary Criss Cut Fry from Carl's Jr along with my low-carb burger. Oh, and 3 slices of my milk chocolate orange. <sigh> I'm stretching it out and have only 2 slices left. I'll make them last.
Today's plan:
Breakfast: 4 pcs bacon, 4 eggs, coffee w/ h&h
Lunch: 1 large chicken breast, 2 hb eggs
Dinner: shoot. no plan there. we've got lots of protein to choose from, though, so I should be able to be good.
Snack: some of the crustless quiche and/or roast beef rollup with 4 slices roast beef, 1 slice swiss cheese and 1 low carb tortilla from eades approved la tortilla factory.
A note on the la tortilla factory packaging... it now has an endorsement of sorts on the back from the Drs Eades! I showed it to my bf when we were in the grocery store. I thought it was really cool, but also it made me feel like there was some serious legitimacy in this diet. (of course, I know its legitimate, but my bf is very skeptical.) I get so many half-formed critiques ("You can't do that!" ... o rly?) that to see them connected to something that even 'conventional wisdom' can't argue with too much.
I was also down another pound this morning. I've got a lot of weight to lose, I've got some monthly hormonal fluctuations going on and i'm just getting back on track so all those conspire to make the first pounds pretty easy. But it also makes it easy to stay motivated!!!
Thanks, as always, for the encouragement, example and accountability!
Just went to a Burger King downtown and they had a special key for "low carb" burgers. This is not true of all bk's but it's nice to know this one truely gets it.
They put the burger in a small salad container and smother it with tomato, pickles, and lettuce.
Nice.

Have you ever tried a Hardees burger, Amy? They have such a yummy flavor. I will see if our BK has the low carb burger as it may be just as good.
yep. I know they wrap theirs in lettuce.
That is what I asked the guy...can you wrap it in lettuce. He said, you want it low carb? I said yes...and I got my cute little container.
Nice.

A good day here...kept busy this morning working on school prep and this afternoon with cooking, making a quick trip to the grocery store because I was missing a couple of things, workout video, and more cooking. Now I'm back in the recliner with my bone growth stimulator on, so I'm pretty much done for the evening.
I managed to finally finish making pumpkin soup--finally found organic pumpkin ($3.00/can , but Libby's is gone for the season and I was desperate). Then I made Mexican lasagna--so now I should be set for a while. It feels good to cook again.

I am trying to reduce the amount of splenda I use so made a type of tea this morning I can drink without sweetening. That's a good idea, Jilly. I've got some Good Earth herbal tea that has a sweet-tasting herb in it somewhere. One friend thought it might be anise. Makes good iced tea, too! It comes with or without caffeine.

I've had both the BK and Hardees lc burger and I have to say I like Hardees better. Culvers does it nicely, too. I think their mushroom swiss burgers on lettuce are terrific.

I second the motion for the Good Earth tea. That's one of the few I can drink without Splenda. It's wonderful.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I do have a couple I don't mind without sweetening, its just a matter of making myself have them instead of the usuals.
I was a little low on protein today, 75g, very unusual for me. ECC was 21g.

I'm playing catch up this morning. A systematic failure at the power station supplying our town left us all without electricity for most of Tuesday -- was finally restored around midnight. I had planned on using my netbook, but the wireless system was also down -- guess that uses electricity. The quiet and darkness last night was kind of nice. Could see the stars again with all the lights in town off.
Food was not so good. Won't go into the gory details, but I ended up much higher on carbs and protein was about half. You'd think after all these years, I'd figure out what "basics" means! :o
