Wow - the last full week of January already !

Rev your engines, everyone, and let's end the month with some gusto :D!!!

What are you doing this week - and what small change are you going to make to shake it up :)?

Ifit treadmill, 30 mins, up to 7% incline, speed up to 3.5, went 1.57 miles and burned 242 calories.

I woke up at 2 am today. My grandson is sick and he woke up crying, and I couldn't go back to sleep. So I got my grocery shopping done and then I worked out.:D

I'm down 2.8lbs:D:D:D

My headache and shivers went away with a sleep on Friday afternoon. This house has been football crazy (soccer variety) this weekend. There have been 2 live FA Cup games on TV each of Sat and Sun, the 'regular' league game to listen to on the radio, AND as if that wasn't enough, one of the subscription channels has been showing Continental games free of charge as a lure to get suckers to sign up :eek::eek: I retreated to the kitchen for a marathon cleaning session yesterday to keep my sanity, but have been rewarded by a leg that looks as though I have got elephantiasis, presumably because I was on it so much

Nevertheless, I intend to do my resistance tube work M-W-F, but I will try out the sitting version. The sooner I get this fat off the less my leg should react this way.

Sorry to hear your leg is giving you fits Needle! Feel better soon.

I used my tubes and did 15 min. upper body this morning. Now I'm taking a break from working on our taxes. Yuck, no way to spend a Sunday.

Well I'm feeling a bit tender all over today. But the subfloor is done and I managed to up my squatting weight. :D I will try to get on the elip. later or at least play some ping pong. (our style of play is pretty active, we go after everything, whether it hits the table or not, I usually work up a bit of sweat even)

It's pouring rain again so indoor sports are the way to go today.

Every time I read about Randy's dodge ball I think I should find out if we have any around here, it sounds like a lot of fun. The kind of thing where you don't even realize you're getting exercise. :)

Keep up the good work everyone,

Jilly

Morning all! I've been AWOL for a day or two. But I have been keeping up on my stretching. The walking hasn't been so good. There's a lot pain going on when I do attempt it. But I'm not about to give up yet. I'll keep trying till my February appointment.

Everbody have a good day!!

Dearest Shadow,
A shock this morning - up 2 # :peeved:... for no good reason:confused: other than I have not been able to get in the walks (crappy weather) and stopped the HIIT workouts. So I'm targeting the reduced activity (even tho I faithfully follow the resistance workouts and diet.)
This morning- warmup and stretching, hiit on elliptical, moderate pace on bike, resistance with bands and free weights. This will be the schedule for the rest of the week with variations.
BTW- noticed pants were getting tite so I weighed in a week early.

Dear Monty - you know fluctuations DO exist for various reasons and sometimes for no apparent reason at all, don't you :)? I personally don't think missing the cardio did it unless you ate more instead of walking. I am doing a training system where I take a week off between mesocycles (every 4 weeks) and my weight usually goes down during those rest weeks. So don't get too radical, okay?
This morning- warmup and stretching, hiit on elliptical, moderate pace on bike, resistance with bands and free weights. This will be the schedule for the rest of the week with variations.

Are you sure nothing else has changed? You're still drinking as much water, not eating any more salt, still eating the exact same - absolutely no changes whatsoever besides not walking?

However - I DO know how upsetting those 2# are :(. That's why I am NOT a scale fanatic!! I've had it ruin entirely too many days ;).... My clothes let me know when I need to knuckle under and start paying more attention .

Hi, y'all,
Son and dtr in law and grandbaby, have gone.:(
Bronchitis finally has also gone. :) It is such a bummer to try any exercise coughing every breath.

Today, some Callanetics from her book for my abds/waist.
Tonight, scheduled for 1st thing when I hit the house, a walk the hills in my neighborhood. Alternate plan, if raining, aiming for 15 minutes on the mini-trampoline, (starting building up my time again).

When I hit the exercise the first thing after I get home, then I have no excuses and won't allow myself to eat anything or start dinner till it's done.

Have a great day, all.

Hi all, still trying to save all my heretofore earned brownie points (Shadow said there is only one as per her count) but I'm sure she has just misplaced a couple of them .

Anyway, I did a 20 min stretch on my elliptical machine so I am out to earn more....oh forgot, it wasn't resistance so maybe not !:eek:

Shadow my elliptical is a Body by Jake --one that I've had for several years. I can set the thing to increase the level of difficulty if I want to ( However, I do not) It gives my legs a good work out just where it is at.

Byee for now. I'm off again to hit the tax work.

It must be the salt intake has caused some water retention...with all the games and golf on this weekend, there were salted nuts (very few), chili soup with extra beef and few beans, fried chicken from store. When I looked up the last 3 days I realized all the sodium in these foods. I will wait til Monday to weigh in again. What PO's me is my expectation was to lose 5# this month. @#&**#@.
OK- tired of whining and ready to suck it up.

I just finished up my 15 min. dvd workout for both upper and lower body. I feel better, the sun is shining here for a while at least, tho my dh says it is really cold out there with the wind blowing so. One of these days winter will be behind us and I can't wait !!

So it is back to the regular ones.
Squats are no problem. I don't understand how the tube adds resistance but my legs feel it afterwards so something must be happening. I cannot do lunges though. Apart from the balance issues I mentioned, because my foot is encased in one of these http://www.vmmarketing.co.uk/lower1.htm#foot (click on the camera beside Achilles), I cannot get my right leg low enough when it is the one at the back. I think I will just have to leave those out of the regular workout.

I am happy to report that I dug out my "Walk Aerobics" tape, had DH copy it to DVD, and did as much of it as I could. (15 minutes)! Actually, it was about 10 minutes more than I thought I could do.:o
But, I plan on doing it every day and get through all 30 minutes as soon as I can. Something is better than nothing and at least I have started something. I have started to do some arm exercises using 3 lb. weights. I do those during commercials at night when I'm watching TV. So, I'm getting in 3 sets of 10 reps each arm - with doing 5 different ways - using different muscle groups. I am just happy to be able to report that I am doing something instead of nothing.

Just going easy at first - it's been awhile - use the whip gently!;)

I didn't come up with anything really devious, but it was a good workout all the same. I've been mixing a bit more ab stuff into the middle of our workouts as I found my sister lost motivation to do them by the end of the workout. She's not very fond of the 'kayaker' exercise I have put in.

Thank-you Shadow for all the encouragement!!! It made me feel so welcome and ready to get back at it!!!!:D

I'm in for the aerobics for today - hopefully adding a few more minutes - at least.

The sun is shining which makes a person feel a whole lot better.

Yippee to all you are moving and shaking!!

This was a very short wo but a wo nonetheless, right Dear Shadow??

I am sorry you're not feeling well, Sheila :(! Good plan to take a rest day . Your body will appreciate being given the time to fight this bug - so just take care of yourself and get well :).

Hope you feel bette soon too, Shelia. This time of year is the pits, isn't it.

All I have done so far is 10 min on the elliptical but there are still over 5 hours left in the day so I have hopes that I will do some thing else. Just gotta convince myself to get moving.

I had a change of plans today that I should have anticipated. I gave blood and was told not to lift anything with my right arm.:jawDrop: That meant no arc trainer or rower and of course, no lifting. I could have done the treadmill, but I opted to skip it and do a double tomorrow.

Hi, I did the elliptical today one segment for 10 min. the other for 15.

We are expecting big snow here tonight and tomorrow -- from 6-12 inches in fact. I sooooo hope they are wrong about it, but they usually arent !

I hope they're wrong, too, Karole! We're going easy on the snow, but the temp is low and the wind chill is zero-ish.

Upper and lower tonight. Arc trainer ten minutes and rowing machine ten minutes. Moderate intensity and I didn't overdo it.

about that time change thing...Boy I can !

It's funny, I'm sure that in previous forum, maybe even this one I've bemoaned switching back and forth. Further, I'm certain that I've whined why can't we leave it standard time. Now I've had a change of heart. At this age and stage, I go to work in the dark, no matter what time of year, so I would love having enough light when I got home that it didn't feel like bedtime. Look at all the extra exercise we could get in :)

I could sure use a bit of sunlight right now. We get daylight sort of, it's been raining for weeks. :(

Lower body today. Sis was grumpy but I pushed her through it.

One more workout on Sat. then I'm in recovery mode for several weeks. :crybaby:

HI, ya'll,
Body Flex aerobic/toning tape this am.
Callanetics from her book, 15 minutes for abd/waist.

Tonight, if still pouring outside, will be as many minutes as I can on the re-bounder. Will post amount.

Have a great Friday, all.

Hey all, I didn't exercise yesterday, was still sick. Did get my exercise in today already. Didn't have to work because of the weather, so I got to do it early. Still sick and I could tell, it was a rough go, but I didn't want to miss too many days and then have a hard time getting back into the swing of things.

My Ifit phase 1 won't work. It's an 8 week program and it quit in week 5:mad: Phases 2 and 3 work, but I'm not ready for them yet, so I know it's the chip and not my treadmill. So I used my treadmills programs and tweaked it a little as I went, to keep up with the phase 1 program.:)

30 mins, up to 7% incline, speed up to 4, went 1.75 miles and burned 275 calories.:D

I put calories burned, but I'm not sure how accurate the treadmill is. It doesn't ask for my weight, and I'm not sure what weight it's based on, or if it even matters. So I could be burning more or less.

I do know I am now tired, maybe I'll rest better today.

Well, considering that I get up extra early in the morning, I prefer to have the bedtime ambiance when I go home ;). Much easier than trying to fall asleep while the sun is still shining!

Well.... I exercise first thing in the morning so I really would prefer to sleep at night ;).

That's perfectly acceptable, Sheila !
Did get my exercise in today already. Didn't have to work because of the weather, so I got to do it early. Still sick and I could tell, it was a rough go, but I didn't want to miss too many days and then have a hard time getting back into the swing of things.
Well.... if you push too hard when you're not well, it will just take you longer to get better. So pay very close attention to how you feel - and if you need the rest, take it! You'll perform much better when you have your strength and stamina back :).

I put calories burned, but I'm not sure how accurate the treadmill is. It doesn't ask for my weight, and I'm not sure what weight it's based on, or if it even matters. So I could be burning more or less.
Well, every formula I've ever used considered weight so... I'm not sure it matters, though, since the calories we burn exercising are usually minimal ;).

I do know I am now tired, maybe I'll rest better today.
Rest would be a good thing!

Hi all!
Running very late. Doy and I had our two youngest granddaughters for the entire day. We had a very enjoyable day.

I did my stretching, leg raises and got about five minutes moving around on my feet. It may not seem like a big deal to some. The five minutes that is! But its a big accomplishment for me. I think this last approximatley year and a half confined to a wheelchair I've become complacent in the fact that that is the way its going to be. But lately I've made the decision to try to get out of that chair more often. I do realize that I'll never be 100%. But I'm going to make an honest effort to improve my mobility.
