Okay, gang, we are already at the last full week of the month ! Hopefully you will all remember to not only move it but also to reward yourself each day with some lovin'.
And don't forget to be thinking about March and how you're going to change your program up a bit to keep it interesting, for you mind AND your body ;)!

Nobody brave enough to dive in? I'll hold my nose and jump in at the deep end
This will be week 2 of my alternating programme, so upper body twice and lower once. I'm not sufficiently established with that yet to want to change it, beyond shortening the tube a tiny bit. Otherwise I am going to try and use my exercise cycle every day, unless I can go for a walk.
I slipped a bit towards the end of last week, both with the cycle and the lovin' bit, but I'm back to reading PPLP again, on the chapter about sugar and sweeteners now.

I got my stretching done early this morning. before 6:30 am. Not much more planned in the exercise/physical activity area today. I say that now but I'm sure I'll try doing some walking. Even if its just from one room to another.
Have a good Sunday everybody!

Grad school is in session again, but I have tried to sch time for exercise.
Yesterday, Body Flex aerobic/toning tape, abd crunches, waist exercises.
Today, Callanetics 1hour tape and if not raining, hike in my neighborhood.

Hi, got in 30 min. with the borrowed dvd routine focusing on calves, hamstring, glutes, and abs. I'm going to stick with that for March as I have the book and the dvd and don't even know how to properly do all the stuff yet.
[QUOTE=Needlewoman;104188]Nobody brave enough to dive in? I'll hold my nose and jump in at the deep end
We got the word that Shadow is out of touch for the wkend so we all get a break, right Karole??? :)
On second thought, slacking will only get us a double dose of the 40 lashes. It's less painful to just do it. :(
Today 12 minutes of HIIT on the elliptical and a full set of isos (I don't time them but I guess about 15+minutes) Neck is behaving, so it felt good to do resistance work.
Hurry back Dear Shadow. We miss u.:D

Hi everybody,
I wanted to change something (just to make Shadow happy) and started my week on Saturday night. I wish I didn't;) - I felt my arm and chest muscles all day long having difficulties to use my paper (=heavy) dictionaries.
Sat - 15 mins upper body (my new dvd Kathy Smiths Total Body Lift - upper body part with light weights is really challenging!)
Sun - Pick Your Spot Pilates: abs & thighs (20 mins)
Unfortunately, no time for pleasures - I'm working on an oral presentation on W. B. Yeats's poems. And I am really not that good at modernist poetry, so it is tough:o. See you tomorrow!

Another good trip to the gym and brunch with my sister this morning. :D It will be a few weeks yet before squats and lunges go back in the routine but I am doing pushups, pull-ups, quad. extensions etc.
I'll be gone for the first couple of weeks of March but will try to get some exercise in while I'm away. Once I get back the plan is to switch from a slow burn routine to larger compound movements that are more functionally aimed. It will be fun doing that with my sister, there's lots of great stuff you can do with medicine balls and bands with two people. :)
I'll be going up and down the stairs quite a bit this afternoon as I do more organizing and then some ping pong later.
Jilly
I changed it up today...jumped outta bed and went xx skiing! Only 3miles, but it was pretty icy which makes it a bit more work than normal.
I LOVED it. But it totally wears me out.
Wish I could do it every day.

Cross country skiing is hard work!! I haven't gone in years but last winter did some snow shoeing, that was lots of fun and hard work too. Did you do any skiing or snow shoeing on your camping trip?

And thinking of that----I have just completed my workout for the day. I did the elliptical for 8 min. to warm up using my arms as well as legs. Then I did chest, back, shoulder, biceps, and triceps followed by stretching. This took 30 min. Still using my borrowed book and dvd from the library.

Here I am typing this again ! Lost another one to the cyber fairy I guess.
Did 10 min on the elliptical then did glutes, hams, and abs for 25 min. I think my abs will be sore tomorrow as it was a really good work out. My arms are still really tired from yesterday, but not sore at least.
I am hoping that this resistance stuff will have a good effect on my bp-- I am down from taking 3 pills to only taking 1 since I lost my excess weight, but would love to lose this last one too. I am working towards that goal and who knows maybe one of these days !
I am keeping my fingers crossed--does that count as a teeny tiny resistance exercise Shadow????

Thought I would pop in early before I forget it. I am taking a break from resistance today and my friend and I are going to start back with our line dancing on Thursday evenings. It will be something different, since we haven't done it since Dec., and I need to get out of the house --- I'm getting cabin fever. Tho it is my own fault as it hasn't really been that bad here lately. But anyway, that's the plan for today.

I did my squats yesterday, but was too busy, and then too tired, to report them.
Today is rest day, but as my bit of lovin' myself I took a trip out for fun shopping. This involved getting a bus for the first time since probably early November, and I noticed a huge difference getting on and off. For the better, I might add, and I don't think I am going to have any knee issues for the next couple of days like I used to :)

Upper body workout done, and my arms feel as though they have done something :)
Shortening the tube is a bit hit and miss, so I am wondering about tying lengths of thread onto it for reference points. Any idea if this will work? I can't see any reason why they should interfere with the stretching of the rubber or whatever the tube is made from.
Just a very slight niggle from the bus yesterday - not enough to require ibuprofen :)

Mowed my lawn yesterday. Not with the push mower though, I didn't have the energy for that. :o Had a good workout with my sister in the afternoon. Other than not being able to attempt squats and lunges yet I'm feeling pretty good about where I'm at post surgery. I was concerned I would lose a lot of the strength had I built up but that doesn't appear to be the case. :D
The whole family is going away together this weekend for a night in Victoria, the largest city on Vancouver Island and capitol of the province. It should be a lot of fun, I really enjoy the company of my family. My sister was asking me about our usual Sunday workout, I think she thought she might get out of doing one, so I told her we'll just do it at the hotel of course! She sounded thrilled.... She did admit to me the other day that she no longer dreads going to the gym. :suspicious:

Anyway, I warmed up on the elliptical for 10 min. then did quads, hamstring and glutes, calves and finally abs. Also did a superset of ab work (3 sets, 15 reps each) of crunch, reverse crunch and twisting crunch. (I almost sound like I know what I'm talking about, don't I?):rolleyes:
It was work let me tell you I do know what I'm talking about there !
Then I did stretches for the muscles I worked. All done now and my day is free to do other things..... if I can summon up the energy !!

Then I did stretches for the muscles I worked. All done now and my day is free to do other things..... if I can summon up the energy !!
Fantastic end to a fantastic workout !

Update to tell you that this has definitely NOT been a rest day. :p I left the housecleaning chores until the very last minute, of course, and had I not been in such good physical shape, I'd be flat on my back right now.
 :p! Now THERE is an advantage to all the years of the gym ;)!
As it is, I'm looking forward to a music jam if anyone can get here on the terrible roads. Even if nobody shows up, I will be enjoying my house!
Be safe and have a great weekend, Carol!

Where is the Shadow? Is she going to be missing Sat and Sun (so we get to slack off) or what? I miss her.
No way, girlie !!! I'll be around - so don't get all excited !
Dh and I went for a walk in town today and lo and behold our dgd and her hubby and kids were there already walking. We had a good visit and got in about 40 min. of brisk walking so it was great.
Good job !

Well, if we are scraping the bottom of the barrel, I did walk down to the shops with DH, and we bought so much that I had to carry a bag back, which I don't usually do. I don't pretend to understand how it works, because it can only be due to the resistance work, but I do not feel that I am right back at square one fitness wise, despite being forced to stay indoors so much since before Christmas. I'm sure that your heart sank when you read my first couple of posts, so thank you for your patience in helping me to find something that I can do.

Hi, I just got back from shopping from 9 a.m. to 2:30 P.m. I am worn out and I know getting in and out of my car as many times as I did today has to be doing something wonderfully terrific to my quads if nothing else.
I am to tired to do any thing today so will wait til tomorrow and report in then.

Today was really a rest day, dear Shadow! I deserved it after yesterday! :) I did have some mental exercise between doing the checkbook and doing the income tax.

Activity is always good, NW :D!

Resistance is an amazing thing !
