Edit - since I mislabeled the thread, this edit is just to let you know that Sunday the 7th begins the week, just like the calendar says :slywink:. So don't think you've gotten a reprieve - you just have a bubble brained leader now and again
Okay, gang, we've all got specific goals to achieve this month, so we need to get cracking on them!
Stop and think how well you're doing on your plan. Are you seeing any results, even slight one? Do you need to adjust any part of your plan to get to goal?
If it's NOT working - change it. If it IS working, maybe this week you can kick it up just a tad ;).

Good morning all!
I hope I got the right thread! Last thread ended 3/6/2010 and this one starts 3/8/2010! So here I am!
Stretching and Dynamic Tension routine before breakfast. Hopefully today I'll get in that little walk, I didn't get to yesterday.
Have a great Sunday friends!

I noticed that, Bill. I can't believe that we've all been allowed today off for good behaviour :lol::lol:, and on that assumption, DH and I walked down to the shops and I carried a quite heavy bag back. I couldn't have done that last year.
It will be upper body twice this week and the (now slightly less than) killer squats just the once :D
In my pursuit of measurable progress I have tried marking my tube with a lurid yellow marker, but I haven't looked to see if it is visible once dried. If it isn't I will just have to keep the tape measure handy.

Hi all, I did my upper body workout today for 27 min. that does include a few moments before and after to warm up and afterward to stretch out. I got on the elliptical but only did that for 5 min before I was interuppted and never did get back to it. Dh wants to go for a horseback ride after while so that will be a bit more moving too.

Went hiking 3.5 miles today, it took exactly an hour, and I did it all by myself.:D I quite enjoyed being by my lonesome. Might have to do that more often.

Morning everyone,
Day four of vacation and I'm having a really nice visit with friends. I thought I'd report here instead of in the challenges as I have good news here, not so great in the food department.:lol:
So far we have worked out twice and will be attending a kick and box type class tonight and some other class tomorrow apparently. I just go where my friend takes me. There may be some moves I can't do yet with kick and box, but I'll find substitutions where neccessary. :)
I think the amount of walking while shopping, and trying on of clothes, should also count as some moving for me, there's been a lot of it. I almost set my wallet on fire yesterday when my credit card burst into flames!
I'll pop in again in a few days. Keep moving people!

It must be nice weather, Shadow, because the Challenge thread is echoing a bit also!

Last nights Kick and box class was great! Sweaty and exhausting, but great. :D I was able to do a lot more than I thought and kept up surprisingly well considering how long its been since I did something like that. I love punching.
I'm not sure what tonights class entails, hopefully not too much more leg work... :o
I'm glad I'm getting all this moving in, next week there won't be the same opportunities to workout. :(

I would say you will (1) have a very tired arm (2) the whip arm will become overly large (3) you will switch to the other arm to even up your arm muscles (4) You will come out of it with a beautiful set of arm muscles that everyone will envy and it is all thanks to us your devoted diciples !:cool::cool: Ahh,I can see it now..... you owe us ......
waking up from the dream now.....I just did my lower body workout-- did glutes, hams, quads, and calves. I warmed up first for 10 min. on the elliptical. I did those step things too for the first time.

Sounds like a good day to take a well deserved rest Bill!
Made it through another class with my friend at the local rec centre last night. I'm having a rest day myself. My legs are squawking a bit, especially going downstairs. Did I mention I'm staying in a three storey house?
I probably won't get any exercise tomorrow, I'll be traveling abit. I don't generally workout more than 3 times a week anyway. I prefer to go hard at it fewer times with more rest between. There is a gym at the hotel in Halifax though so I'll try to get in there on Fri. Once we get to Bermuda I don't think I'll have a gym available.

Sadly no exercise to report. I never got round to it on Monday, no reason really, I just didn't do it :o Then my leg did the swelling trick - no idea why, I hadn't done extra standing or anything - and although it goes nearly all the way down overnight it swells up again next day if I am on it very long and by evening it hurts quite a lot, especially around the ankle  So I am spending most of my time with my legs up.
Will get back to exercise as soon as I can. Just typical that it should happen now, as I want to get some vegetable seeds started off.

Sorry about your leg Needle. Best to pamper it a bit so it doesn't get any worse than it is right now. It is so aggravating to have that happen just when you have plans. Hope it get better really soon.
Carol I'm glad to hear your muscle doc is liking what you are doing , that is always good. You have really worked it hard and often so you deserve the results.

I just did my new Jillian Michaels dvd---let me reword that---I just did part of my new dvd! I did 26 min. counting warm up and cool down and will have to do the rest tommorrow. It is a real work out and in fact too much for me at my age so I just had to go a bit slower and with less weight. I'm afraid I will hurt something if I try to do it as fast as those gals do. Then I would not be able to do anything at all and who knows when I would make myself get into it again. Anyway, the jelly muscles I have right now let me know I did some work.
I do like a simple thunderstorm, Carol, but not when they keep talking about tornadoes along with them. Luckily we had just a nice thunderboomer and we did need the rain.

NW, do you wear compression hosiery? Would it help?
I don't wear compression hosiery.
I was thinking back after I saw your question, and I would put money on the swelling being largely down to the obesity on top of the disabilty. I did not have any problems like swelling or phlebitis when I was first disabled, and I was hardly even overweight then, and pretty active with 2 children under 5. I used to walk quite a bit, taking the eldest to school and then on shopping, a round trip of a mile and a half most days, and back in the afternoon for another half mile, all with the youngest in a pushchair. I've only ground to a halt as the weight crept up, regardless of what I ate, and then the phlebitis started and later the swelling. So hopefully once the weight comes off and I find moving easier (and that is happening already) the problems will recede.
I'm grateful to everyone for their concern. It will only last a few days and disappear as quickly as it came - no apparent rhyme or reason to it - then I can get moving again. The weather forecast today said the it is going to start to get warmer next week, so it should be possible to get out and about more, in addition to the resistance. I do enjoy walking around the local park watching squirrels and the dogs chasing them :D:D but not when it is cold or wet.

When I cautioned you to pace yourself this time around, you replied in a manner that brought to mind the whole grasshopper/master thing. And a nickname was born ;).
Not only that, but the grasshopper would be jealous!
But at least I should always be able to remember your nickname since I loved that series :p.
Resistance tonight. See you all later!
Awesome !

I was thinking back after I saw your question, and I would put money on the swelling being largely down to the obesity on top of the disabilty... So hopefully once the weight comes off and I find moving easier (and that is happening already) the problems will recede.
That would be a wonderful bonus to the weight loss, wouldn't it :D????
It will only last a few days and disappear as quickly as it came - no apparent rhyme or reason to it - then I can get moving again.
I'll bet it's a big relief to know that and not think this will be never ending :)! The weather forecast today said the it is going to start to get warmer next week, so it should be possible to get out and about more, in addition to the resistance.
That will be great ! Hopefully by the time the leg is better, the weather will be, too :D!

Hi! I did the resistance tonight with the heaviest weight I can do for ten reps each and topped it off with ten minutes of arc trainer. Tomorrow I have a conflict of interest, so I'll do something un-gymish over the weekend. :)

Hi there Bill, I just finished my morning workout too.
I did core and upper body workout per my new Jillian dvd and it was much slower paced and I could keep up with out feeling like I was going to pull something. I did have to modify a couple of the exercises tho to watch out for my back.
Anyway, did 19 min which includes the cool down and etc. I did it early today as when I got up this morning I was pretty darn sore from yesterdays bout . I am hoping that this will alleviate some of my suffering (did you hear that Shadow--suffering !):peeved:;)

That's awesome!!! Trust me, speed simply brings on momentum - it's always best to slow things down, not just for safety's sake, but to also ensure it's the muscle working and not the movement ;).

Way to go putting safety first !

Now aren't you glad it's done and over with instead of having it looming over you the rest of the morning ?

Hey - it works for me, so I'm sure it will work for you, too ;). If it helps, just last week I had to add on another lower body workout (lighter, though :p ) to break up some lactic acid. I was walking kinda funny - and hurting like all get out - so I figured I'd better. And it did the trick! Hopefully it will for you, too .

Yes, it did help a lot so I am really glad I did the work out early instead of putting it off til later tonight. Still have twinges but it isn't as bad as it was first thing this morning. But then at my age it takes a little longer for every thing to work a little better.:D
I really was proud that I was able to do all of the plank rows the dvd girls did. Not tooo long ago just a plank was unheard of.

Awesome :D! Something to keep in mind in the future - for both of us :)!

We all suffer from too many years of taking our bodies for granted ;). At least you're doing so much better! Think how cranky your body would be if you weren't giving it all the lovin' you are now !

I am so very proud of you, too, Karole :D :D :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of us still don't, and don't think we want to find out in a hurry :)
My leg felt altogether different when I woke up yesterday. I was able to be on it normally, although I did elevate it in the evening to be on the safe side, so hopefully all is OK again, at least until the next time. I'll probably walk down to the shops with DH at some point over the weekend (if he ever stops snoring, that is  ) to loosen it up a bit.

Good morning Movers & Shakers!
I did my stretching and Dynamic Tension before breakfast. No walking. The stretching I did yesterday before supper worked quite well. It really relaxed me for the evening. I'll be doing that again for today.
I started reading ISOMETRIC POWER REVOLUTION by John E Peterson. I'm sure, just from the little bit I've read, that this will be replacing my Dynamic Tension routine as my exercise of choice.
Thanks Monty for recommending it!
Have a great Saturday friends!

But they're ever so good for you ;). When you decide you want to know, there have been several posts on them (by yours truly  ) but if they don't turn up on a search, let me know and I'll do them again :).
