View Full Version : I'm becoming a Crone Wooo HOOO!!!!!

Years ago low carbing reversed the beginning stages of early menopause (I was 30 at the time) that runs in my family (my maternal grandmother began at 36 and my mother at around 32). And I was grateful as 30 seemed quite young.
However it could only thwart my genes for so long and now at 38 it has begun once again. I am now in the early stages of menopause. It isn't so bad right now. Currently it's just my period coming every 8 weeks or so (if it wants to it appears) and lasting barely 3 - 4 days (used to last 7 +).
How do I feel about this? Being 38 instead of 30 is more acceptable and I'm actually embracing it. It's just the next stage of this life time here and I embrace the fact that soon I too will be a crone. (The funny silver hair growing out of my forehead, that gets really, really long if I forget to pluck it--now that I could do without. )
hugs,
Willow

Hi Willow: Your message made me laugh. I'm 59 and do not consider myself a crone, yet. I went through menopause in my early 50's. It really sent my weight sky high and also my emotions were a rollar coaster for a few years. You may be one of the lucky ones who glide through it easily.
May I ask a question or two about pp? I have just registered today and am having trouble finding my way through all this. First of all how do I post a message? Obviously I've figured out how to reply to one - yours.
I did pp about 4 years ago and in about a year and a half went from 172# to 130#. Size 16 to 4! I'm 5'2". I was on sabbatical from teaching and when I went back 3 years ago, I began to slowly gain. Now I've gained about 25 # and feel awful. I pulled my dogeared pp book out to get started. It's so hard to start, but I remember how good it feels once you get on track. I've retired from teaching. The high stress, long hours and eating temptations are unbelievable. So the promise that I made to myself was upon retirement I take care of me again. Today's the first day of the rest of my life. I just need to get off my ample deriaire and start. Thanks for letting me vent.

Welcome Pam. Willow's message made me laugh, too. I'm 45 and starting with all this "change" stuff.
To start a new thread, just go to the section you want to post it in, and click on the "new thread" button at the top left of the screen (you need to be logged in).
To get a quick view of recent discussions without having to check each forum individually, use either "new posts" (only available if you're logged in) or "today's posts," both found in the box running across the top of the page. "New posts" will show posts since the last time you logged in, and "today's posts" (listed under "quick links" at the top) shows posts in the last 24 hours.

lol....Willow "crone" made me laugh too! I'm just 40, and I'm doing EVERYTHING I can think of to make easing into "cronage" as smooth as possible! lol :D
YOU have one of those strange forehead hairs TOO!!!! I thought FOR SURE I was the ONLY ONE in the WORLD that had something ODD like that!!!!!!!!! It totally cracks me up how long it grows before I can see it! lol:eek: Mine is so fine...and I recall the FIRST time I ever saw it, I couldn't BELIEVE that a hair was growning out from THERE!!!! lol
I've had gray hairs for a long long time...but only within the last three years did it grow from the center of my forehead! strange. lol

I officially became a crone 3 months ago and am embracing it. I was always estrogen dominant, so I have found it easier to lose weight as my supplies dwindle. I do keep my fat intake high (65%) and carbs low (<10%) and feel like a "normal" person for the first time in 35 years.

Hey, crones RULE! I went up and down for a few years. :paranoid: :crybaby: DH noticed it, but I didn't know anything except that I wasn't content any more. That's gone now, and I'm just back to enjoying life again. More than I did before, even, because a lot of the old issues (children, pregnancy, etc.) are not issues any more.
